Was it Drews Fault? Was it Henrys???
MattyT replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Willis is playing great and the Bills (including Drew) are playing much better. However, I still can't shake the feeling that Bledsoe is merely a placeholder for a much more successful QB to come. -
"The answer my friend is blowing in the wind..." Not to be a dick, but the answers to your questions (or at least "a Bills fan's attempt" at answering your questions) can be found by clicking just about any post that actually has to do with football. See you Sunday.

I heard that the Pats were holding a raffle this Sunday to determine who's gonna play cornerback for them. If you're sitting in Section 7, Row C, Seat 5....come on down! That lucky fan gets to cover Lee Evans!

"and maybe get, like, a second-rounder for him."??????? Has Lenny turned into a teenage, like, valley girl all of a sudden?
-
I think you may be confused. They already got rid of Rush Limbaugh!
-
Yeah, "Chief" and "Boss" are my personal pet peeves. How much more condescending can you get?
-
You're probably right. Remember how they did that big Bills video montage for the Sunday night game against the Dolphins last year and then we got blown out of the stadium? I'm not liking this.

In addition..... This is small, but I don't like the implication of the link title on ESPNs football page. Bills, McGahee blow past bruised Jets in Buffalo This makes it sound like we played a beat up bunch of old injured men. The only injury I noticed was to Pennington (towards the end of the game) and as soon as he left, Carter came in and threw a TD in only a couple of plays! So anyone who didn't watch the game probably assumes that half the good Jets players didn't play and we beat a bunch of scabs. NOT TRUE!!! Thanks for the credit guys.

I think you may be underestimating the skillset of today's offensive linemen. From what I know, Bannan is a two trick pony at this point....straight ahead and pulling to the right. If there was little difference between pass protection and run blocking then teams wouldn't have specialized linemen for various blocking packages and situations. Pass protection and understanding the "choreography" to participate in more complex running plays and read defenses from an offensive lineman's point of view are not likely part of his skillset to this point. Maybe sometime soon.

Sorry, but I agreed with Theisman (which is a miracle in itself) on that one. Lewis DID NOT hold Shea's arm. He had one hand on his side, which left Shea's arms completely free. Yes, the replay showed that it was an "according to Hoyle" penalty, but not so severe that Shea shouldn't have made the catch. Should the penalty have been called? Absolutely. Ray Lewis gets off scott-free once again.

The big reason Willis is so successful
MattyT replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that the only point missing from this observation is that the success in the running game created by McGahee's play is not allowing our opponents to blitz with the same frequency as they were doing pre-McGahee. This in itself has enhanced the perception of better OLine play and blitz pick-up. When neither our running game or passing game was working, our opponents had little to lose and everything to gain by sending everybody directly at Drew. Very few teams could fend off the number of blitzes that were thrown at them pre-McGahee. Now that WM has shown a propensity for breaking off big plays, teams need to stay home and can't leave the big holes created by blitzing LBs because they will likely pay for it. The play of WM has done the same for the passing game, which decreases the likelihood of blitzing safeties and CBs as well. I think McGahee is doing a better job chipping and re-directing blitzers than TH did, which is a combination of his technique and size. Don't get me wrong, the offensive line IS playing better....but they are no longer being asked to do extraordinary things. -
The big reason Willis is so successful
MattyT replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. It's a tale of two backs right now...one organic and one deterministic. A comfortable back is a patient back and McGahee's patience is the key right now. The situation that TH has been thrown into is causing him to feel determined to ram it down everybody's throat as fast as he can and show that he's as good or better than WM. Henry's first running play was a perfect example...he ran into the blocker standing right in front of him and was dropped for a loss. He's done this countless times this year. Willis, on the other hand, is pausing to see what opens up and, if no opportunity arises, he has the speed and awareness to bounce it to the outside. In my heart, I think that Travis has about 90% of the talent and ability that McGahee is playing with right now, but we will probably not see it again while he is in a Bills uni. -
I'm pretty sure they will be double-teaming Abraham. If they're not...well then they should. Most healthy OLs have more than their hands full w/that guy.

With her guns, I'm not sure you would have much choice!

Thanks. I kinda figured, but wasn't sure. -
John Edwards wife has breast cancer
MattyT replied to Thailog80's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This from the guy who used this thread as an opportunity to promote the idea that liberals will do anything for a sympathy vote. At this point, despite some good initial sentiment, this whole thread is a disgrace and should probably be removed. That is, unless some of the...well let's just say "less sensitive contributers" really want this conversation to remain on the record. -

Me? I think you have me confused with yourself. I haven't seen you offer any better explanation. -

So if "Karma can be a biotch" what specifically is this cancer retribution for? Being a liberal? Please tell me that this isn't your thought process. -

WOW. Care to elaborate? ...or is this as sad and misguided as I think it is? -
And then there are those who are so entrenched in being azzholes that they probably shouldn't leave their block let alone the country.....case in point.

This is the nut of it right here. I think that the notable incidents are few and far between. I don't think most Europeans care enough about your politics to take the time and energy to spit on you or beat the stevestojan out of you. I spent a week in Munich last October, discussed politics with a few people openly and honestly, and it was a non-issue. Of course, if you go in there with the "How much ya bench?" attitude that you displayed in your post then maybe it would be a better idea to stay home.

What do you all think about T.O.?
MattyT replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to like TO but just cant. He's a great player but clearly the whiniest baby in the league. He is the poster boy for the Jim Rome "smack-talking" crowd that eats this stuff up. He's the lead character in a testosterone influenced soap opera (see professional wrestling). His self-fulfilling look-at-me, tortured icon prophacy schtick is old and crusty. I have zero interest or sympathy at his continuous attempts to promote himself...right down to his backwards hat advertising his g'damned Web site. This latest quote is perfect because there is no difference between Ray Lewis and TO except for the side of the ball that they play on. At least, in this case, they are eating their own instead of slandering other players in the league who have respect for themselves and aren't showing up for the casting call (see Jeff Garcia). -
Willie Randolph will be Mets Manager
MattyT replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good luck Willie. One of the classiest players in the league. I'd love to see him turn the Mets around. -
