Been quite some time since I went down the Willie Nile rabbit hole .. Also for the cover song thread. He did an entire album of Dylan covers a few years ago.

Great call. Willie emerged in the early 80s to much critical acclaim complete with Dylan comparisons and a support act for The Who. Then he mostly disappeared for the better part of twenty years. His 1999 return album Beautiful Wreck Of The World is great. Since then he's been very prolific, still putting out new music as recently as 2021 in his 70s. One of Rush's (Neil's) most powerful lyrical compositions, it certainly resonates more with me as the years pile up. For me a great cover pays homage to the original while putting your own stamp on it. Tricky.
