Deshaun Watson a Bargain in 1st for Bills - DP
bigK14094 replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, the reviews I have heard say that Trubisky has better accuracy than Watson based on looking at the combine and pro day workouts. Accuracy is what is needed. Of course, that is the arm consideration....maybe the intangibles that Watson brings are worth something including the winning know how....yes, winning takes a skill set....getting your head right to play in big games. And, Trubisky has only one season as a starter...so the body of work is inferior to to Watson. Trub is, however, a big body QB and looks like a pro, and if I were doing the picking, I would go that route I guess. Have seen to many guys without the accuracy come through here.....EJ only the most recent. Fitz, Losman had some of that problem too...... -
If the Bills take a QB #1, they won't take a second QB in the draft....unless they have given up on Cardale. Now, Cardale was not a mature pro last year, and has a lot a growing up to do.......but I am guessing he gets one season with the new administration before he would be let go as a bust. But, if the Bills do not sign a free agent QB and don't draft a QB high, then a late round QB makes a lot of sense...as they need one more body. It would be interesting if C Kelly were that alternative......of course, there will be a fourth arm for camp, but that one always goes away....or, sometimes, to the practice squad.

most mocks have bills taking williams
bigK14094 replied to buffuct's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My view was that Shaq was an easy call for the predraft mocks, as R Ryan was always advocating for him...and he made the selection for the Bills. Clemson was Rex second team as his son was on the team. He saw Shaq a lot.....I have no allusions that Rex picked the best candidate...he picked the candidate he had seen a dozen times. I am not sure Shaq is a pro....we will see...but there was a lot of emotion in his selection....and the Ryan judgement was clouded imho. -
I remember Joe Fergeson and Amhad Rashad beating the Raiders on MNF in the 70's. I had tickets in those days, and the guy next to me left before Fergy and Rashad hooked up on two fourth quarter TD's to win it. Next home game I got to ask him if he heard what happened after he left last game. He just shook his head. Not many moments like that recent years.

I keep hearing how deep this draft is at DB
bigK14094 replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see the Bills trade back, but there are not that many of those types of trades...circumstances outside of the Bills control would dictate such an opportunity. But, they should be ready in any event should they be approached. More picks better as needs are many this year. -
S. Gilmore or Nate Clements in their prime?
bigK14094 replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw them both as a long time season ticket holder. Clemens when he was playing hard was far better than Gilmore. Clemens, however, occasionally took a few games off and disappeared. Still, given the choice, I would take Nate in his prime over Gilmore......Nate was a better ball hawk......by far, Nate was a better tackler......cover capability was equivalent. Interesting thread...theoretical, but interesting. And, I actually had an opinion. -
Gilmore's lack of ability to stop the run is a negative not discussed here. He was a pansy not unlike Dion Sanders. the Bills should run his way often imho. Like to see Richie out there laying a shoulder on him so he knows he is not forgotten for playing touch football in Buffalo when he was supposed to tackle.

Kap's demonstrations during the national anthem were roundly booed in Buffalo. A PR nightmare to bring him to Buffalo. Ain;t gona happen says common business sense.

Breakout Season for Shaq Lawson in 2017?
bigK14094 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shaq didn't have much, if any, impact this past season. although "healthy" after he came back.....he missed camp and was really just getting a taste of the pro game. I have no idea how he will do next year, but by the draft position he should be a player in the NFL. More likely we will be disappointed if he is only average....we need the #1 picks to be big hits. Same for Raglund...who was also touted as a potential #1. allegedly a work-a-holic that is a success factor. -
Henderson's situation here is at play in this discussion. His 10 gaem suspension has 4 games to run......but, can he go to camp? And play in the preseason? Don't know........in other situations, that is allowed...don't know about inside of the 10 game sit down. would like the new staff to take a look and determine if Marrone and the more recent OL coaches were wrong.....or is Henderson an NFL player. He certainly had his ups and downs, but his physical issues (Chrone's) may be behind him. Anyhow, if he is any good....he might play in here more than discussed so far. Of course, he may be a bad risk on the basis of his love for the cannibis plant...and...is the next one a year or lifetime. He does seem to be headed down the Josh Gordon path. (maybe for medical reasons, but rules are rules)

Listenbee played a really simple offensive package at TCU . He ran only a few routes.....and got by with his speed against slower defenders. Now, with the pro's, that tactic won't work. He will need to learn moves and a complex offense. I look to him to be practice squad material really while he learns his trade. Same would have happened last year imho. the physical skills are good, but not great. I read on this message board that Listenbee was as fast as Goodwin. I don't think so, his 4.39 will not stay with Goodwin at 4.23 (I think it was ). Still, a low round draft choice healthy again, we can hope.

Great returner, but needs to give up the stat hunt for the good of the team. I love the signing just for that. But, he was also a great fill in receiver, and did some run after catch that was excellant. Good man to have...a pro if he has anything left in the tank. Let McD decide that......
-
If Tyrod gets hurt, we might not win a game after that.........so, record speculation is game you can't win. Jones has yet to show he is a pro...that is takes the necessary study seriously and practices with perfection. ( Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.) The prior coaching staff (I know, clowns among them) felt CJ was immature and not yet a pro.

Would Mccoy for Sherman make sense for both sides?
bigK14094 replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No based on hard skill sets. Also, no based on the intangibles...Sherman a loud mouthed bad actor, McCoy a professional in all ways, at least in his stay in Buffalo. NO NO and NO!!! -
Your 1A comment is correct. Because.....the Bills need to be prepared for Sammy's contract renewal......coming up one of these years. We don't need another Gilmore situation, where the heir apparent is not in the house. (although I could argue that Darby should be that guy in year 3)

Bills have made offer to FA RB Travaris Cadet
bigK14094 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
An offer sheet doesn't yet mean he will be a Bill. Shady, if he get his 1000 again, will be back into 2018. Guy is a beast. -

If Dareus fails another one, its a year out, at least. Would do a lot to solve the cap problem, anyhow, and this is not a zero probability.

Should the Bills cut Kyle Williams to clear cap space?
bigK14094 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a lot of cases of D linemen playing well into their 30's age wise. Kyle, if he has the desire, might go on for several years more. His salary might need to be restructured...giving him more money over ,say, 3 years......say......$15 mil for three years.........thus effectively paying him $3.5 for the last two years of the deal........Risky, but, not overly so.....but, again, does he want to do this...he has made a lot of money already....and, he did a painful rehab.....does he want to risk that again. Or, is football just in his blood.....only he knows.
