  1. I saw Williams last year....he is no McCoy...by any stretch anyhow. He looked plodding to me, a power back but not quick. Don't see a backup to Shady on the roster myself. I don't want to ever see J Byrd on the field here again....he is slow, slow, slow............he would be the second coming of Drayton Florence
  2. Not so fast there sport.........talent is judged "on the hoof" ultimately. And NO fancy algorithym can replace human judgement. Sorry your world view is so techie..... My view on the mass firing.....makes little sense......imho. Building an organization takes time.....and I would think the new GM ought to have the right to retain those who he would like to retain. New from the ground up is a management failing. Fielding the team...THE SCOUTING TEAM can be as challenging as fielding the team of football players. This would be considered poor management in the corporate world in which I spent my career.
  3. Yes, the Bills are the farm team for the rest of the NFL
  4. A lot of folks here (and at the BN) have missed a critical point. The Bills hired a new media chief because things were going sideways....when Whaley spoke and in other circumstances as well. The new guy, imho, is saying, get a reset and use the new coach to do that as the face of the franchise. But the media guys seem to be putting an awful lot of cred on the fact that McD has been doing the talking. I , for one, don't read Whaley's departure into that scenrio. I see a new media chief doing his job well. And, I am getting awfullly tired of the drumbeat from the BN on the Whaley issue. Time will tell, but, I am not a all sure the big moves advertised in BN and in some of the national media are going to take place. I think this video does show that DW is doing his job.
  5. the most important player on the D in the phins game was the CB who was on the bench when Alai got the big run at the end of the game....yeh, the play where there were only 10 defenders on the field, and they ran at the unoccupied corner. That was why Pegs had to can the Ryans immediately. Reportedly, that was the third time last season they only had 10 guys out there.
  6. A lot of brave talk here. Wait 'till Shady gets hurt. Wait'til shady can't hold up to 25 carries/game. JWilliams not yet a proven pro. It takes TWO good rb's to succeed, and we will have one proven...and another....oh well. I am glad I didn't reup the season tickets.
  7. Fair would be two games each month, but havn't had many fair years....always backloaded into cold weather. (see last year) This is theNFL encouraging the Pegs to get a domed stadium imho.
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/e74f92ae-6267-3137-b09d-cf7ff377767d/ss_sammy-watkins-to-carolina..%3F.html Some interest out there...saw this tonight on Yahoo.
  9. Cardale's maturity is an issue the prior staff implied. Not yet mature enough to be a true pro. Let the new staff decide.....I have had it with projects.......give him another look, and , if McD doesn't like what he sees, lets move on. Although he had t hat famous run at Ohio state when they won the national championship...it was three games....and he didn't have the starting job the next year....beat out by a guy who will never play an NFL down. Urban Myers saw something lacking.....so did Ryan''s staff. Kid is on his third strike imho.
  10. Yes, it will be a tactical decision by a trading partner, whoever that might be. And, Whaley can't anticipate who will call. He just needs to know how much he can get. There is a chart I saw one time that gives points on future draft picks....and is allegedly used to even up trades. For the Bills current situation.....another first plus and additional 2 or 3 would do it for me depending on what team called.
  11. If wish to root for somebody at playoff time, it is mandatory to have another team to follow.
  12. Yes, the reviews I have heard say that Trubisky has better accuracy than Watson based on looking at the combine and pro day workouts. Accuracy is what is needed. Of course, that is the arm consideration....maybe the intangibles that Watson brings are worth something including the winning know how....yes, winning takes a skill set....getting your head right to play in big games. And, Trubisky has only one season as a starter...so the body of work is inferior to to Watson. Trub is, however, a big body QB and looks like a pro, and if I were doing the picking, I would go that route I guess. Have seen to many guys without the accuracy come through here.....EJ only the most recent. Fitz, Losman had some of that problem too......
  13. If the Bills take a QB #1, they won't take a second QB in the draft....unless they have given up on Cardale. Now, Cardale was not a mature pro last year, and has a lot a growing up to do.......but I am guessing he gets one season with the new administration before he would be let go as a bust. But, if the Bills do not sign a free agent QB and don't draft a QB high, then a late round QB makes a lot of sense...as they need one more body. It would be interesting if C Kelly were that alternative......of course, there will be a fourth arm for camp, but that one always goes away....or, sometimes, to the practice squad.
  14. My view was that Shaq was an easy call for the predraft mocks, as R Ryan was always advocating for him...and he made the selection for the Bills. Clemson was Rex second team as his son was on the team. He saw Shaq a lot.....I have no allusions that Rex picked the best candidate...he picked the candidate he had seen a dozen times. I am not sure Shaq is a pro....we will see...but there was a lot of emotion in his selection....and the Ryan judgement was clouded imho.
  15. I remember Joe Fergeson and Amhad Rashad beating the Raiders on MNF in the 70's. I had tickets in those days, and the guy next to me left before Fergy and Rashad hooked up on two fourth quarter TD's to win it. Next home game I got to ask him if he heard what happened after he left last game. He just shook his head. Not many moments like that recent years.
  16. I would like to see the Bills trade back, but there are not that many of those types of trades...circumstances outside of the Bills control would dictate such an opportunity. But, they should be ready in any event should they be approached. More picks better as needs are many this year.
  17. I saw them both as a long time season ticket holder. Clemens when he was playing hard was far better than Gilmore. Clemens, however, occasionally took a few games off and disappeared. Still, given the choice, I would take Nate in his prime over Gilmore......Nate was a better ball hawk......by far, Nate was a better tackler......cover capability was equivalent. Interesting thread...theoretical, but interesting. And, I actually had an opinion.
  18. Gilmore's lack of ability to stop the run is a negative not discussed here. He was a pansy not unlike Dion Sanders. the Bills should run his way often imho. Like to see Richie out there laying a shoulder on him so he knows he is not forgotten for playing touch football in Buffalo when he was supposed to tackle.
  19. Kap's demonstrations during the national anthem were roundly booed in Buffalo. A PR nightmare to bring him to Buffalo. Ain;t gona happen says common business sense.
