  1. A rookie QB, if there is one, may not even be playing if the Bills are still in the hunt. A rookie QB might be playing, however, if the bills are out of it, or if both the Jets and Bills are out of it. (Mahones got one game last year in that circumstance) So, it might be Peterman or AJ McCarron under center. And, the Jets new guy...who knows.....
  2. And when he quit on the starter, he was wrong.......
  3. Many teams could use an all Pro rb......thats what is causing it.
  4. Got to sign a lot of live bodies if you are going to dump all your draft picks on a trade up stragedy. (not necessarily quality fb players unfortunately) I am not a fan of the trade up stragedy.
  5. I am not a fan of this stragedy. The Bills have way to may holes to fill. Lots of sub par journeymen being signed, so, the trade up play is set. Unless McCarron is a genius we are going to have a bad year or three. Not enough lb's,wrs, defensive line guys etc etc. This is watkins version 2.0. And, odds are it will come out the same way. I don't have an opinion on the top 5, but, even at best, quoting the stats elsewhere on this board, chances of a franchise qb in the top 5 are 1 in 3. Not my kind of bet. Color me disengaged and taking two years off as a fan if they do the trade up.
  6. Isn't Macklin a free agent again?
  7. Welcome I had a taste of being a Bills fan in Asia for one year. (Japan) Not easy, as games are on in the middle of the night if you want to watch live. NFL.com allows purchase of games on line if the web address is outside the USA if I recall correctly. But, mostly I watched recorded a day late in an American club while eating dinner, so it was a good experience. You make interesting point about Rosen.....but, I didn't even know he was Jewish until you mentioned it. That fact remains of no interest to me however, as I don't think that kind of marketing thinking (land in NY, Miami or LA) goes into the draft process anyhow. They do check character, but not what church the guy goes to. Same w the racism angle....the NFL is majority black these days, and nobody cares if a QB candidate is black or white....just can he play.
  8. My view is that Allen is the most Cam Newton like.....and likely what Bean and McD like........if he is gone...might not take an early QB........another wildshot thought anyhow.
  9. If the next Luke Keuchly is out there, I won't complain if they take a QB in Rnd 2.
  10. You may be correct that he is a system QB, but, that does not preclude him being an NFL starter and a good one. Maybe not first year, but, given a little time, can't say that isn't possible.
  11. Lets see, these first round guys are all slotted from a pay point of view....so, #1 in the first round is the highest paid rookie. I think I understand the objective as stated. Darnold is a businessman it appears. Good for him. Playing in Cleveland won't be fun for a while however. 9 wins last year.
  12. Not the primary objective, but making the Jets overpay is ok from a secondary objective point of view.
  13. Jackson is TT v2.0, bills won't draft him.
  14. Flutie like, he could play, but, teams caught on how to stop a shorter QB. (arms up) Yes, Mayfield is not as short as DF.
  15. He might not pass a drug test, however. Stay tuned. And, the morals clause in the players contract allow discipline by the team and the league for behavior unbecoming the NFL and its representatives may yet come to haunt young Zay.
  16. Revisit Archie Mannings career in New Orleans.........that is the problem. Great QB, never was able to muster any sort of winning team.
  17. Color me contrarian.......I don't want to give up all those high early picks for the #2 to get a QB that maybe, maybe might be a top 10 NFL QB. Bills have to many old and slow guys on the roster and need to get new talent now, or, a QB won't matter at all.
  18. We wish Zay well. But, I question if the Bills will allocate a roster spot to somebody who is unstable in this manner. At least, that is my thought
  19. Watch to see who comes to Buffalo on visits........I am guessing they will try to get all of the top 4 to visit. Some might not be totally willing or interested...and that will reflect in the view the Bills have of that candidate. E Manning did not want to play in San Diego post draft....hence the famous Phillip Rivers trade. Players preference will influence what happens here.........didn't Rosen say he didn't want to go to the Browns? One final comment.....even if we draft at 12....Lamar Jackson looks to be another TT type QB....if they didn't like TT, why would they even consider Jackson. So, if its #12 where they pick....it will be either Rudolph or Allen if he is still there...my choice would be Rudolph in any event at #12.
  20. Zay Jones/ Carlos ...never mind.
  21. Didn't bother the Bills management in prior years!
  22. McCarron is likely starter imho. guys like Watson/Trubinski are few and far between. Even if we do the much discussed tradeup.......its less than 50/50 the rookie starts immediately. And, if McCarron does well, he never sits down. More likely, some sort of injury to just front office impatience would push the rook onto the field. Then the rook will get a chance to beat Peterman's record 5 ints in one half.
  23. Well, the press certainly wants buffalo to move up....especially the NYC based press who are shameless homers for the Giants and Jets. If we give all the picks required to get to #2 this year, we will be 5 years recovering from the lack of new talent on the roster. I say take what we find with all the picks we have.....I hear 70 starters in this years draft....that puts Bills in a position to draft what? 5 starters......that is what the Bills need. And, I am ok not going for one of the top 4 puppies coming out of the NCAA this year. #5-8 are also the same likelyhood to succeed imho. I can tell you this.....Bean/McD better get this right.....their survival at One bills drive depends on how they handle this draft. I fear these guys are trying to replicate what Cam Newton did for Carolina. Not sure there is one of those in this years draft. And, I do recall Brett Farve sat a couple of years before starting, Aaron Rogers sat 3 years behind Farve before starting.......I, for one, believe watching for a while helps QB talent succeed. I predict McCarron will surprise many in a favorable manner because of his 4 years in the league.
