  1. Intellectual capability can be judged by interview to some degree. A college transcript might be another way. I know I would ask for such information...and that is legit by any employment laws I am aware of. I went through this kind of adjustment in tactics as laws changed in my 40 years in the corporate world where I made hiring decisions by the hundreds. Truly capable interviewers will find out a lot, but decisions will still be hard and somewhat a gamble. The loss of this specific test is not a significant loss IMHO. Some coaches preach the business like approach to the pro game, that should absolutely be part of the administrative side as well. And, I agree the leak issue was a big one for the NFL to deal with.
  2. Initial reports were Burrow hurt his ankle....I wonder if this comment is "disinformation". The knee was surgically repaired since last season, but, might not be the real reason for sitting. AND, Mayfield is not playing for the Brownies, so, we will see two unknown (to me) backups in the last game of the season. I feel sorry for the fans that paid for tickets to this game. Preseason in tone.
  3. Yes, Penney hurt a lot. I liked him out of San Diego State, and have watched him from afar. He is a player when healthy.
  4. Frazier was HC of the Vikes for (3?) years, and the Bears saw him twice a year. there might be a lingering impressions from that time and not sure he gets the Bears job because of that.
  5. Darnolds personal relationship w Josh makes me wonder about the calculus in that situation. Better to have a professional only relationship imho.
  6. So, take the Jets and the points.
  7. It did take OJ a couple of seasons before he was tearing up the league.
  8. Darnold has been hurt. More work helps the Panthers decide what to do about him for next year.
  9. Yeh, I signed up before the season just to have access to Joe B's comments. I enjoy the other coverage when I have time to look at it. the A is looking for a partner though, its tough out there to keep such an endeavor going.
  10. Its a fine line between ANGRY (emotional) and calculating aggressive coaching. I am hoping that its the later in McD's case. On this point, its my understanding that the analytics folks are saying that teams should go for it on 4th down more than they do these days in order to win more.....in that case, we are certainly practicing that with McD's calls these days. (analytic approach emphasized here) Worked out yesterday anyhow.
  11. I would feel even better if the Bills practiced outside in the cold a little bit before the game. Why do we have a dome team in Buffalo?
  12. Maybe they even practiced outside, immagine!
  13. Willis McGahee for one.....
  14. 17, when his foot is right, can make a move and outrun the D-line chasing him. He didn't have that move last week against Panthers. Lets hope his foot feels better and he can get back to what he had earlier in the season in terms of scrambling. (I can't be the only one who saw this last Sunday)
  15. This new NFL approach is something akin to the NHL system with guys somewhere having a voice with all the pics in from of them.
  16. I am thinking that the Bills mgmt will speak to Diggs about his view before doing anything. I know I would.
  17. We should run some "fake" passes and let guys like Kumerow clean house on the DB's. Who else do we have on the roster than could do that. Taiwan Jones? Knox? Sweeney. BTW, I did a little research, and the NFL banned "tear away " jerseys in 1979. Only us old timers remember that practice. (some players would finish game in taters if they ran out of jerseys for him)
  18. Before the Bills field house was built, the team practiced outside in the weather. That was when the Bills had a cold weather advantage. I doubt they are "out" very much at all except the kickers who go out to learn to play the winds. The coaches argument will be that they need the field house to teach all the intricacies of the modern game. So, the bills loose some of the former advantage of being hardened to the conditions. Maybe the Bills should turn off the heat in the field house......
  19. I wonder if Josh can block? (He can of course, but lets not do that)
  20. Bucs are a tough out.....we'll see how it goes.
  21. Yup Mitch will not handle Vita Vea well at all. VV will blow him up!
  22. I think McD interceeded between qte 3 & 4. Announcers said McD spent the entire minute talking to Milano. After that, Milano shot the gap tand the wide running stuff ceased being successful for the Pats. McD call that shot....as LF did not imho. LF may be a tad to conservative to make the calls all the time. But, it was to late, and the Bills O couldn't put up any more points.
  23. Congrats on putting together the analysis...but, I could see this team is up and down without the data here.
  24. Both teams are capable at the player level, even w/o Tre White. This game will be a match of the coach's ability to out smart the other team. going against cheaten Bill is a tough assignment. Daboll worked for him for 10 years, they know each other. Going to be interesting to see if student can handle his teacher. And, the Bills D has to handle the new young gun the Pats have at QB. Not many bad throws unless they mount some pressure. Maybe blitz the new guy some to see if he can handle it, who knows. This isn't Mahones........but Jones can chuck it accurately for sure if he has time.
