  1. Only one vote counts....Dan Snyder.....the owner of the Redskins. And, Dan says he will not change....end of story. If the US Congressmen who recently ask him to change are offended, they need not patronize his events. Folks, the money talks. And, I do agree with Mr Snyder in this case.
  2. Such analytical tools will take time to implement and grow in therms of use and validation of the techniques. That is unless you can steal somebody from another franchise that is already in this game using these tehcniques. (see Moneyball the movie) I believe they will get to the development of this tool asap, they are still shaking down the new organization. And, the new scouts are going to have to be amenable to this approach.....and if Whaley doesn't believe, this won't happen either.
  3. No, just hand CJ the ball...don't make last years mistake.
  4. OK, now I will list my 4 seats on the NFL ticket exchange.
  5. In business, you can't be proud...a good idea whereever you get it!!!
  6. I like that Whatley made these changes day 1, he knows what he wants to do, and he went and got the guys it takes to run it. Also, despite the non political correctness of getting folks you used to work with, it immediately puts the lines of communication in place with understanding at both ends. And, to be a great GM, Whately doesn't need to know it all, he just has to have people who do, and use them well. Good start! No need to reinvent a process if you can copy one that works well. Good for him, a good idea whereever it comes from!
  7. Its Whatley's time, and I like he was in training for three years. Very corporate like, preparing the man, and he knows he is being prepared. Makes you pay attention if you know you have to carry the mail yourself in the near future.
  8. I like that Buddy will be around to advise....Whatley can make the calls, but grey head advice is always useful, even if you reject it in the end. Did a lot of that in my corporate career, and it never hurt me, and helped many many times. Good Luck Buddy. And, time for Whatley to "saddle up"...good for him as well.
  9. My guess...practice squad, activated after first injury to a WR. Would help his case if he could do something on special teams, but not likely, unless he can tackle. Never make him a TE...if anything, train him up and try to work on his speed.....teach him the moves and knowledge of a pro. But, I gotta tell ya, anybody who caught that many balls is already a pro in a certain sense. Anyhow, good to see a free agent drawing attention. As for DeRick Rogers, I wish him the best outcome, and am not betting against that man.
  10. Did Easley return a kick for a touchdown last year? That was at least one play.....maybe that was preseason....can the board help me remember?
  11. My experience in business (not football) is that when an individual gets a change of jobs, sometimes that individual blossoms into a swan (from an ugly duckling) Its just the circumstances. Hopefully both traded players find their stride in their new roles.
  12. ACtually, I could see rookie wide receivers on the roster opening day. that would include Rogers, and the two drafted. Risky, but what is there to keep over them. Stevie, Brad Smith and the Graham. Six is about right.....
  13. Manuel should start as soon as possible, but no sooner! Need the coaching staff to make that call, none of us here that smart. I remember the Bills staff of another decade ruining Todd Collins in Buffalo, but he lasted elsewhere in the league for 15 years. don't push the rook to fast in my view.
  14. Smith was not yet a pro in the eyes of the assessors. That was the bottom line in the article. Come on, if you want somebody to pick you in the first round, you don't go off with your electronic toys when in their presence. Lacking judgement and comprehension of the situation.
  15. The problem with the Peters situation was that he had 3 years left on a contract. Folks, when you sign, you are bound. Peters and Parker weaseled out.....I would not allow that in any circumstances. Its a manhood thing in my view. Byrd situation is different...no contract....but thye tag thing. He is trying to weasel that situation.....I wouldn't allow it myself......
  16. Yep, with Parker as the agent, let Byrd sit out the season, no more trades like the Peters deal. Don't let Parker drive a trade....let Byrd pay the price for having such tactics in play. by the way, if he sits out, he still has a contract in force, I think.....doesn't clear out the tag he has.....worse scenrio, he shows up 3 days before the first regular season game, then he has to be inactive since he can't play the D, which is new. But, you could put him on special teams.....heh heh.
  17. It will take a year for everybody to learn Pettine's system. I don't hopes for early success. I remember being 4-3, the 3-4, then 4-3, now 3-4 again. Nobody doing what they did last year. That spells mistakes and poor results. I hope I am surprised, but franchise stability is required to have top notch offensive and defensive systems. Rookie mistakes from everybody next year.
  18. Fitz had a 48, look what that got us.
  19. Actually, some could argue that they are baredly able to function at all. And, others would say they do not function even now!
  20. Easier to answer after the schedule comes out.
  21. Yes, my son was in Pittsburg for two years, and tried to go with his Bills jersey on....BIG mistake. Steelers fans are not tolerant of other fans, and my son never wore his again in Pittsburg. ON the other hand, went to Baltimore a couple of years ago, and things were fine in the Ravens stadium. As for the comments on the JETs, would NOT wear Bills gear to the JEts/Giants facility...crowd is mostly mentally ill, and an incident is likely. As for Buffalo, except for a few drunks, the fans are tolerant of other Jerseys. (I am a season ticket holder)
  22. Well, in our group, I have to drive, so I get one before we eat, and then I am on soda. That is our version of a DD. Sorry I can't be a big hitter like all the brave talk here.
  23. I agree with this in principle....but the price here in dollars is to much. I would say, on a reduced $ commitment, OK. Maybe a sharing deal with the Raiders. And, you never know, having Dareus might help him fly right.
  24. florence had a big heart and great instincts, but was slow, slow, slow and got torched mutiple times his last year in Buffalo. that is why he is gone! (Never to be seen here again, I hope)
  25. Choice may be a journeyman, but he is competant, and I don't worry when he goes into the game. He is a pro. So, we have three already, and, barring injurt, we are set. Still, there are a lot of backs out there, would not hurt to look at a FA or two.
