  1. Three reasons why Toronto won't work as a Bills relocation...1. the fan base won't go to the non tailgate environment of downtown toronto 2.. Many US fans do not have passports 3. the toronto fans of the bills that have been touted by Jerry Jones don't exist....witness the lack of attendance at the bills toronto series.
  2. I am guessing that Marrone got a read on this guy from Kiko....who would know him. If the Bills passed, its for good reason.
  3. Bill Polian......retired, doing broadcasting for a lark.....out of the league by choice, I think. (his choice) Now, about Gronk...really has been hurt a lot . Great TE, but can't stay on the field last two years. Reminds me of POZ when he was here, brittle is word. I don't know how POZ has done on the injury front in Jax. The critiques I have heard about this draft are all vanilla about the situation in buffalo.....they don't acknowledge that a new owner is going to arrive, and if the team isn't a playoff team, new coaching and management will happen..might happen anyhow. But, Whaley and Marrone have no problem "burning the furniture" for the 2015 draft......if they don't win this year, they are most likely gone anyhow...won't be their problem. Yes, a big price, but they are spending what they can to try to keep their jobs...by winning now. Getting rid of S Johnson was OK, he was a lot of trouble...talented with limitations. Fitz made him...and EJ couldn't adapt to SJ's adaptive route running. Hackett complaining laslt year about SJ not running the routes exactly. Of course not, he ran where they weren't. But, EJ is not yet sophisticated enough to recognize that situation.....so SJ had to go, bring in guys who run the route, even if its not open. At least EJ will know where they are. All this turnover......its natural in football...they new management always gets rid of the guys they didn't select.
  4. Big mistake to put a new stadium there, traffic in and out would be a nightmare...as a season ticket holder, I can't see going down by the lake where there are no roads headed out to the west.........lack of a 360Degree transportation network makes the waterfront undesireable. Other roads then overloaded and traffic would be a nightmare. I, for one, won't be doing that.
  5. Well, I don't think this was all bad.......Stevie performed well with Fitz at QB, with his Harvard brain.....Stevie was given great flexibility to run his routes as determined by what the defenders left uncovered in the coverage. Fitz and Stevie read this together, and it worked. I remember Revis complaining that Stevie had the most freedom of any receiver in the league after Stevie torched him one game. Now, in comes Manuel.....and he doesn't have the head to operate this way. Manuel can't adapt to an alternate route based on the coverage given by the D...he can barely keep the playbook straight. Mid season Hackett is complaining that Stevie doesn't run his routes exactly as drawn up....Manuel can't adapt......so, my view, we have an incompatibility of Stevie's skill set and the organizational desire for cookie cutter route runners. Hence, Marrone and Hackett get rid of Stevie.......not their kind of guy. To bad, he was skilled. However, he did not fit the speed theme they are trying to build. I wish him well in SF, and hope Kappernick can get on the same page with him. (And that was why Stevie didn't like it when Fitz was dumped)
  6. Yes, they paid to much.....but why. My view....Marrone and Whaley are in a "one and done" situation with respect to a new owner. If they aren't in the playoffs, they will be gone...the new guy will put his stamp on the team right away. (might even if they make the playoffs) So, ";burning the furniture" for the 2015 draft might not make any difference to the current leadership at OBD, as they won't be there anyhow if they don't make the playoffs. So, for them, this was a" why not?" situation. I would have been happy with the guy from LSU at #9, but I am not running the show. Go Bills! I wish them good fortune with this pick!
  7. Well, yes the announcers did like the pick, but, when the price the Bills paid was announced, I saw Gruden shaking his head....he thought it was to much for sure. Now, the question is, why did Whaley/Marrone do this. I think that crew is one and done if they don't make the playoffs......so burning the furniture in the 2015 season is OK with them....neither of those guys will be working for the new owner if they don't produce this year. Unfortunately, I thought the Bills were a QB away from a playoff team this year, not a wr off.
  8. That LSU receiver
  9. Donald is talented, but weighs 50 lbs less than Darius. A healthy Darius outplays Donald every time. (the good big man beats the good little man every time)
  10. Dareus can't wait for the away game in Denver....stoner city/state. Marrone will have to handcuff and locklup his crew before the game out there!!!
  11. Nix is now (as was last draft) functioning as advisor and counselor to Whaley. It is good business practice to keep the old guys around to mine their knowledge, but not be held to their judgements. (Nix is the GM coach now) Later, he is a consultant....not delivering the goods anymore, just coaching up Whaley, if Whaley wants to listen.
  12. Actually, if Manzel is there at #9, he is going fall a lot further............
  13. I say no trade like that......take BPA at 9........and keep our #2...another good player will be available there....we got Cordy glenn there, woods.....yeh...we need two, not a better #1.
  14. Well said! NBA should have acknowledged the reality you describe. Having said that, with 70% of the players being black, I am thinking that the NBA is afraid of a "job action" by the players, and thus void the NBA responsibilities on lucrative TV contracts. So, this NBA action, perhaps illegal in some respects, might have many objectives. but, the main one is to keep the money flowing. And, the league does have its mechanisms to force new ownership if the other owners want to act....and they will!
  15. A lot of trading up and down talk. All such decisions are made on a final basis during the draft....the tactical component can't be game planned with any certainty....that is we don't know who will go in the first 8. But, if someone makes it to 9 that the bills don't want, and somebody else does,.....(like the Rams wanting Tavon Austin last year), then you get to move down if they make an acceptable offer. I loved the trade down last year...helped the bills for sure. But, I can't expect that from Whaley every year, because circumstances cannot be forecast with any degree of certainty. Whaley and the Bills will have to think quickly, though, if they are approached at 9, because it all happens then. That is what the preparation is for...to be ready to make that relatively quick decision on draft day.
  16. As a season ticket holder, I think this is a good lineup. Only one Dec game.....(yeh, 30 Nov is like Dec) Anyhow, its level wrt to the weather. 2 Sep, 2 Oct, 2 Nov and 2 cold weather. So, not stacked into the backend like they have done many years. I don't like thursday night games, even away. I think each team has poor preperation...and that makes for a bad game. Hence, the money flows but the fans are screwed out of a quality product. Oh well. At least they didn't give us any home night games...those are killer, especially in the cold months.
  17. Yeh, I was at the game...Elway was the QB, and he had a swivel on his head when he realized that Bruce Smith and Bennett were both in there. Looking back a forth at those two guys....talk about intimidation.....it was Bennett's first game, and he had immediate impact.
  18. My sentiments exactly, I am a season ticket holder, and don't need this window dressing at the games. I go for the football!!! Bills will settle, and, I hope, take this advice.
  19. Irrespective of his physical tools, Incognito is a problem....stay away from him. Would you transplant cancer into your body ? (locker room, I mean)
  20. Flex scheduling trashes the plans of the stadium fan. Travel plans, arrangements etc.....and night games in the north during the winter months are a killer. People has to work the next day....and its a bummer for sure. All this for the TV dollar......I guess nothing to be done though.....I am a season ticket holder, and I sell my seats on the NFL ticket exchange for the night games......I don't like the cold without some sun. I do have to admit, the crowd at a night game is a zoo, and fun to watch though.
  21. CJ needs an agent....and he knows it. Of course....and he has his objectives. Money, winning, etc. Who knows how that plays out. I don't think a trade is in the works, but, for the right deal, anybody is available.
  22. Yes, Kiko surprised a lot of folks....great pick by the Bills. Of course, Kiko is great because of his abililties, not because the Bills picked him......that is the real credit due. Good management decision by Bills, but Kiko did it!!!
  23. Kaufman caught a lot more than 5, at least that many called back due to penality.....I was at the games, saw the action. Preseason not on TV nationally, so many on the board had no opportunity to see him. I had regrets when he didn't make the PS initially, but the Bills did call him back, they also saw something. People who can catch almost anything thrown their way have a potential role on this team. Kaufman did not have a drop in the preseason. He is the anti-Stevie.
  24. All of this discussion is interesting, but, the decision will be made only after the first 8 picks are made, either execute their draft board....or trade down if a willing partner is available. Bills did real well last year getting Kiko as an additional player, but, it might not work out that well another time. Never know.......getting another 2, however , is extremely attractive......thinking who we got in the past...Woods, glenn both excellent rnd 2 guys as well.
