Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

Not sure this stuff will ever get old. -
I also recall some Bills players watching the Oiler players on the sideline laughing, joking, and basically goofing off since they believed they had the game in the bag. It was cited quite a bit for motivating the team to push harder. After the Bills recovered the onside kick, Levy huddled everyone together and told them about the time he and General Patton led the 7th Army in WWII, and turned to Marv specifically and said "A good plan violently executed right now is better than a perfect plan executed next week." True story.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
IDBillzFan replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's funny. My wife mentioned we get it with Verizon and since my son is 15, I really didn't pay it any mind. Then she added the app to the TV and damn if there isn't a crapload of great content. I have a lot of friends who are kind of Disney freaks...you know, the ones who can watch Aladdin for the millionth time and still enjoy it...and they are happy as can be with that channel. -
He doesn't go out of his way to be offensive, but he does go out of his way to say the most embarrassingly stupid stuff that I have to put him on ignore just to stop believing someone can purposely be that ignorant.

I'm not so sure about that. Someone just needs to ask "What percentage of Americans own three homes?" and suddenly Bernie may be a 5 percenter. Imagine a man railing against millionaires and billionaires from one of his three homes. It's a really bad look, and I would not be surprised to hear more hammering about this tonight. Granted, I don't find it to be a big deal at all EXCEPT for the fact that the guy with three homes is trying to tell people with no homes and a quarter million in college debt that he understands them.

The initial point you missed was not specifically the crowds and the lines and the traffic. Read it again. It was about the affect those lines and crowds and traffic have on people I saw every day at the bank, the grocery store, the post office, in my neighborhood, etc. It never dawned on me that moving to an area with barely a sliver of the CA population would lead me to a place where virtually everyone I meet is joyful, kind and helpful in their day. That's all I was pointing out. I went from a state with 40M to a state with 1.5M; from a county with 3.5M to a county with 180,000 people. Fewer people, fewer lines, lighter traffic means less stress and more joyful dispositions, far and away, from anything I thought might exist. I like being around a majority of people who are joyful. (And one small correction: I didn't say all lines were long. Read it again. I said the Costco lines were long. In Yorba Linda on any given day at virtually any given time there are 50-60 cars in line for gas and the registers are 10 carts deep.)

Everything Joe Biden--Gaffes, Miscues, Touching, Songs
IDBillzFan replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Someone on the left needs to pull the plug on his campaign. After the "I'm running for Senate and if you don't like me vote for the other Biden" comment, I genuinely don't understand why his people aren't pulling him off the road and throwing in the towel. He's clearly having some mental issues, and while I'm no Joe Biden fan, it is really heartbreaking to watch him lose his mind in real time. -
You completely missed my point, but it wasn't meant for you, anyway, because I know it's difficult, if not impossible, for you to empathize with what I'm talking about. Truth is, CA can be perfect for someone like yourself because (a) you're really good with your money and (b) you will never have kids, which makes (a) that much better and easier, not to mention allowing you to completely ignore the CA school system and everything required for a parent to successfully raise a child in CA. But CA can be both things. My joy in leaving doesn't mean you can't have joy in staying. Everything is relative, and I apologize if I give the impression I'm living a better life than anyone else because I left the state. I'm not living a better life than you or anyone else. I'm living a better life than me. That's all.

Forgive the tangent, but every week here is another "this is freaking amazing" moment. Everything we need or want is less than 15-30 minutes away; lakes, mountains, grocery chains, Costco, Cabelas (Bass Pro), WalMarts, Petcos, boating, skiing, amazing restaurants, and an abundance of fresh produce and meat, most of which is grown and raised locally, and sold in the local markets, or at farmer's markets, or even online by the farms. What we DON'T have, at any given time, is an unexplained wait for anything. We go to Costco on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for groceries and gas, and walk up to an empty register or open gas pump every time. We take an on-ramp to the lone interstate highway, and people move to the left lane to let us merge EVERY FREAKING TIME? We go to the movies on a Saturday and have half the theater to ourselves. I went to the grocery store the night before Thanksgiving because I forgot something, and the place was basically empty. It's like that all day, every day, and the "aha moment" is that when people are NOT stuck in lines or traffic, they're less stressed or hurried. They're friendly. They talk to you. They help you. YOU help them. It's the best life has ever been for my family.

I suspect the left realizes this, too, because today is apparently "beat the snotschitt out of Bernie Sanders day" on social media. The ma$sturbation article. The Castro love. His explanation to Anderson Cooper that while he has no effin' clue how much his programs are going to cost, he knows how he's going to pay for it. Throw in a little Bloomberg announcing he's going to spend a billion in lost sofa change to attack Bernie going into Super Tuesday. Bernie needs to go independent. Maybe he can join the Green Party. Surely those batschitt nutbags will take Bernie over an ecosocialist who hysterically promises peace through green jobs. -
Actually, 50% ground beef, 25% ground pork and 25% ground veal is the meatball way. In lieu of breadcrumbs, I dice up bread and soak it in milk for bitm then squeeze the milk out of them before adding them in to the meat. Then some seasonings and a couple of eggs. And in fairness, even after they're cooked they're not done because they need to simmer in my sauce for a while.

I have to admit that one of the nice side effects of the Trump presidency has been the number of true characters that have been revealed. People like Ruben and Kristol and Boot have completely lost their minds, and it's almost like they argued themselves into a corner for which the only escape is through the far-left gateway. At this rate they're a rat's asswhisker away from being stupid enough to bring support an ecosocialist who thinks you build peace through green jobs. -
If Biden is ever going to become a top challenger, he needs to stop talking. He has made a number of embarrassingly incorrect comments on the trail (his dead son having been an AG, as an example, and the latest "I was arrested in Africa" fumble). Watching him talk is like watching Hillary trying to navigate a flight of stairs on her own. For every Dem who moves to Bernie there are probably a dozen Never Trumpers who will do whatever they can to keep a socialist from becoming president, including voting for Trump. I agree with this, but you used the wrong example. Trump's wall is currently being built.

May I mommy dog face to the banana patch! Peace through green jobs! Ecosocialist to the rescue! -
Fun listening to the leftist media talking heads hyperventilate about Bernie as the frontrunner. Carville is right; the MSM has never really vetted Bernie. I know a lot of people are comparing this to Trump in 2016, but it reminds me, personally, of watching John McCain win the nod against Obama. It was like watching Billy Joe Hobert come off the bench. Same feeling to it.

I used to think that, but the reality is that there are 40M people there, and many of them simply accept this as the cost to live in CA, and others (like myself) have been there so long they don't know the difference. They joke and gripe about the high-speed rail fiasco and the water issues and fire issues. They ignore the homeless issue because most people don't leave near those tent cities, and if the tent cities start to get unruly, like the one at Angels stadium, they just sweep the area, hose it down, and the homeless find some other place to set up camp. Leaving was huge for my family, and we didn't even realize how incredible it would be until after we got out. It's impossible for me to explain it. Suffice it to say, it's incredibly enjoyable to spend time with people in space. There are no real lines to stand in, no real traffic to sit in, no people crowding us on our property, or at work, or anywhere.
-
First, because there simply is not enough money in fixing the water issue, relative to the bullet train or the housing they're building for the homeless. Those projects trickle down to friends, families and unions getting their work and kickbacks, which get laundered back to the Dem state campaigns. You start doling out money to 'companies' that will clear the land and build the rail...and there are countless 'contractors and subcontractors' who get that cash...and they toss much of that cash back to the elected (Newsome, Garcetti, Sanchez, etc.) Same with the homeless housing; the real estate, the contractors, the builders, the electricians, plumbers, and every other union trade gets its kickbacks from the Dems, who collect campaign contributions from that same money, until they've blown through $20M and have two studio apartments to show for it. The difference is that building high-speed rail and housing for homeless does not turn off another money spigot. Addressing the water issue means cutting off the green money, and that green money comes in in a way that solving the water issue and preparing for another drought will never fund through laundering. In the end, the leftists running don't care about rails, or homeless or droughts. They care about the money and power. Residents be damned.
