Beyond the fact that your average salary here is higher than most places, it starts with living in the boonies. You may work in LA, but you live in Riverside or Corona, which means you spend half your life on a train or in a car because the toll roads are pretty expensive to take all the time. Then it becomes an issue of living within your means, which usually means having roommates if you're single, or both husband/wife having jobs and keeping your kids in the public school system, which in and of itself is a horrible option no matter where you live. But don't let anyone kid you. There's a reason there are miles and miles of homeless people in this state.

The reason the Democrats continue to lose is not because they're too chicken to espouse their true ideology. It's because their true ideology is hypocritical, disingenuous and otherwise laughable. It's because Americans aren't as stupid, lazy and dependent as liberals want them to be. It's because Americans need to feel their life has meaning beyond nutbags like Alexandria and Bernie telling them that the reason their lives suck is because of wealthy, rich, white men. Perhaps if left would stop with the histrionics, stop with the blatant hypocrisy, stopping telling everyone they're a victim, and stop mocking successful individuals, and treat their fellow Americans with respect, they might get more than coastal elites, teachers and teenagers to believe their garbage.

We're getting ready to put our CA house on the market, and give Northern Idaho a try. The property I can get for a fraction of the cost of my CA is ridiculous (and I'm talking about 4-5 acres), with MUCH lower state and property taxes. So in the next year I will be uprooting my company and basing it there, and to be honest, I can not wait to stop getting crushed by the cost to run a company in CA.

How about renaming it "RobertByrdsville, TX" and see how that settles with everyone. Joking aside, I believe Austin is where all the CA liberals are moving to in order to escape high CA taxes, just before they elect local far-left people to run the city and increase their taxes.
