I remember talking to a Jets fan after Week 1. "I can't believe how good we looked. Think about it; we play Miami and then Cleveland. We can be 3-0 going into week 4." I do love me optimism, though.

You could argue this happens, to a large extent, because the players believe in what the coaches are doing in spite of the bad losses. Yesterday was a perfect example of one team showing up to play hard for their coaches, and another team laying down. I'm still not sure why Bowles hasn't been fired yet. There are a lot of reasons to dump a coach, but one of the most glaring is when the players give up on them. This team, for the most part, seems to genuinely believe in the path being taken, especially when you realize that they value people who want to play over people who simply stopped caring (i.e. Benjamin). But, y'know, lay an egg against the Jags and the pitchforks will be out again demanding a complete gutting of OBD.

Political jabber aside, I think it's widely understood CA has done a horrible job of properly handling the thinning of the forests. They simply cut resources and never brought them back. Blame aside, lack of staff and resources, coupled with the last drought we had, makes many parts ofr CA a tinderbox...even beef you throw in the Santa Anas. I've got 3 firefighters in my Bible study group, and whenever we have warnings for winds, they know what's coming and how fast it moves. They're quick to point out how the forests have been neglected, and the role that plays in concerns for fighting those fires. Again, blame aside, this state burns hot, fast, and out of control, and there's more to this than making sure your property is cleared.

A question for the leftists here: Do you support Gillum and Nelson's push to count votes of non-US citizens? It's a yes or no question. Go.

I suspect the state might consider that given the number of homes of the uber-wealthy that are being destroyed at the snap of a finger right now. Burn a few houses in the central valley and CA doesn't really care. But burn down Malibu...
