  1. Tim Anderson = RJ or Tim Anderson = sucks on ICE
  2. After the 2005 season and the departure of Teflon Tom, think the Bills went 5 - 11 after five years of the TD regime, I think a solid team going 9 - 7 this season could be a real step towards getting this team back to stiking distance of the playoffs for the 2008 season. Hopefully the O-line we be at least average. Hopefully the D-line will be at least average. Special teams hold their own. Depending on what happens in two weeks, the Bills may be in position to have a stable roster and draft for those couple players that can put you over the top. This team will probably me among the youngest in the NFL again this year.
  3. Well, he have a number of them, however I don't really know that we are upgraded over last year. Larry Tripplett was not an upgrade.
  4. Hey, "The Dean", NFL scouts and personnel departments use different techniques for evaluating AND valuating talent and ability. Many teams assign a "point" value to each player, and I doubt any team had Whitner valued that high. But, apparently nobody other than Marv is qualified to define value. BTW, it's not a great secret that one of the final straws that broke the back of "The Tom", was Ralph feeling he reached one too many times: see Roscoe Parrish.
  5. Basically, each of those players except Ko were considered reaches. There is NO way Whitner is a # 8 overall pick, no way. McCargo was considered by most exports to be an extreme reach also, plus Marv traded up to get him.
  6. ??? You said the thing in another thread: DT is considered one the easiest positions to start as a rookie and make an impact, running back probably being the other. There's just not that much to know, what the heck are you talking about? DE, middle linebacker, safety and CB ALL are more difficalt to learn, at that is just on the defensive side of the ball. In addition, as a D tackle, you are generally going against the least skilled players on an NFL team, being interior linemen.
  7. Well, they could be, except for one problem: Denver wins, Buffalo doesn't.
  8. I woud not be surprised, if this guy has a 1400 yard season. You give him the ball 20 x's a again. Pick up a "third down" type back in the draft?
  9. Yes, that's kind of the general idea. Really. I looked it up.
  10. Not good enough to be a starter on one of the weakest D-lines in the league.
  11. If you're going to spend additional picks, you better get something more than a "serviceable starting DT". See Ryan Denney, and possibly John McCargo. IMO: I think you improve your odds of getting a good player more, by having additional picks, than trading up to get a player you like/want.
  12. Buffalo traded up to get McCargo, and basically got zero production from it. I'm not big fan of trading away picks unless you're already a solid playoff team. Bills haven't had a sniff in 7 years? Bills Have Options With Eight Draft Picks by Chris Brown, Lead Journalist Last Updated: 3/9/2007 12:23 PM ET http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4660 "Armed with an extra third round pick last year, Buffalo traded their second-round pick (43rd) and one third-round selection (75th) to Chicago to move back into the first round to select defensive tackle John McCargo."
  13. Excellent post. I read last year that the Bills had the 1st or 2nd youngest team in the league. Don't recall the average age. If they do keep 8 or even 9 rookies this year, could this team be even younger?
  14. We are assuming Walker starts a RG?
  15. You may consider refraining from additional clicking of this link.
  16. OK, that makes sense then. Thanks for the explanation, let's hope they don't have to exercise this option.
  17. Why would you try and keep the weakest link in the weakest chain you have? "Surprisingly, the Bills offered a one-year, $850,000 contract to below-average tackle Tim Anderson on Monday, meaning they currently have a foursome of DTs. However, the stable of Larry Tripplett, Kyle Williams, John McCargo and Anderson isn't exactly striking fear into opposing offenses, nor has it proven itself as an effective group." http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/article...ions280207.html
  18. http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/article...argo080207.html Not particularly interesting, however got me thinking if Marv does indeed feel the same way about drafting another DT on first day. Can the Bills defense really afford to pin their hopes on what they currently have in-house? I don't think so. If via the draft or FA they can come up with one or even two guys that would essentially make this defense playoff caliber, wouldn't you HAVE to do it?
  19. Stanford talent: yes. NFL talent: no. If we think promoting a backup into a starting role for one of the worst run defenses in the league is a good move, we're in trouble. Give it up Coy's dad!
  20. Forget it: the (much more quiet now) TD lovers around here won't let you say these things. Believe me, I tried. Forget about day 2 starters, his day 1 starters led this team to one of the worst combined records in the league during his tenure.
  21. I don't recall him being a good head coach, I recall him looking confused a lot on the sidelines.
  22. Agree 100 % with both this and previous post. I am a big Marv Levy fan, read his book, think he's great: However, what IF Marv does not address the obvious O-line and D-line positions and goes "TD" on us? Will he get the same treatment as Donahoe?
  23. Stats can be extremely misleading, however they can also tell a story. You are sounding like TD. If you only replace or upgrade one position on the O-line, for example RG, say hello to another non-playoff season.
  24. Sure you can. See WM drafted in first round. How much has he helped the running game?
