That funny.

Warning: The words "value" and "reach" are mentioned in this post. Proceed with caution. It's an mid round third pick. Does seem a little light per the value chart, but if the Bills get get the guy they really want, seems like a good value instead of having to reach.
-
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. The article was about going back and re-evaluating the draft three years later. By consensus, the combined draft grade per the mentioned contributors was rather weak. Going back after three years, it looks worse. I'm not saying it was a strong draft, I'm not even being critical of about TD trading UP to get Losman the previous year leaving no # 1 pick. Saying Roscoe may have been the best player available there is ludicrous IMO, and so what. In hindsight, he wasn't. TD gets credit for reaching for a player that three years later didn't warrent the pick? There is no starter from that draft. R.P. couldn't crack the starting lineup of one the worst offenses in the league.
-
Well, between the 2005 draftees, they had a combined 5 starts per NFL.com. Some of the guys are not in football anymore. The immediate grades are of less value obviously, however looks like a lot of the grades looking back three years were pretty good on average. Buffalo's looked sketchy back then, even worse now. That draft by TD probably weas the icing on the cake as far as Ralph was concerned.

It's not an exact science, however it seems that the "grade" assigned a player should correspond to where in the draft he is taken, along what the need for the team is at that prospective position. i.e. Drafting Roscoe Parrish with Buffalo's first pick (round two) , probably wasn't a great pick. When you consider the other glaring needs on the team at that point, it was probably a bad pick. Nothing against Roscoe. http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDr...2008/About2.htm http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...yers/56967.html http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...grading_system/

Looks like another review of the 2005 draft has Buffalo graded as a 'D'. Was originally a C +. I can't help but wonder how much not having a 1st plays into that, apparently not at all. Didn't Ole' Whitey trade away the first to move up or back into the 1st to get Losman? See ESPN per below. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/news/story?id=3333998

Best option now that no WR is worth #11
San-O replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry Doc. Well, for one, Kelsay and Schobel are entrenched as starters mostly because Marv greatly overpaid for both of them. Those seem to me to be horrible contracts. What was the reason that was done? Someone was going to snag Kelsay? LOL. RE: Denney starting, you're delusional. He is a career backup, period. He can't start on THIS roster. Schobel is getting up there, and rarely makes an impact against better O lines. He is overrated and overpaid, and probably the best player on a bad defense last year. -

Thank out lucky stars Marv locked Kelsay and Schobel up long term, and paid them a lot $ up front. Brilliant. -
It's kind of funny. There were a lot of people around here think ing Teflon Tom was some kind of genius until the bitter end. Will be very interesting what grade the 2006 draft gets after three years in.

Malcolm Kelly a 2nd rounder now.............

Malcolm Kelly a 2nd rounder now.............

Buffalo simply CAN'T take a risk on THIS receiver at that spot ( # 11 ) with slow 40 times and coming off an injury. Basically by definition he is not a 1st rounder. Slow and hurt, maybe round 2 or high 3. We'll see. Trade down. -
I'm talking glory here. Buffalo will get their Bills paid

I smell something, but I don't think it's a load of Pyrite. -

Interesting. Is there any place to purchase NFL game films after the season is over? -
May the scorched soul of Teflon Tom never again be mentioned on this board. I wonder how many of Ole' Whitey's Buffalo draft selections are still in the league?

San-O replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they can get a stud like Harvey, then get him, period. The problem is if they do that, that's basically admitting Marv scr**ed the pooch on the Kelsay||Schobel contracts IMHO. How could the possibly spin that. I'm not saying I have a problem with, I just think the Bills "hydra" GM may. Draft a receiver in 2nd, unless someone drops to the Bills. -

I agree. I think they're still bad. How do you account for 3rd and short conversions? -

Thanks for asking. 1. I think the pass rush was horrible, very little preasure. QBs had all day to throw. Beginning of the problem. 2. The CBs gave up too many yards and too many completions. 3. Greer wouldn't have even been out there had not Webster gone down 4. Youboty has been a zero. No excuses, sorry. I can't imagine an NFL team counting on him at this point. 5. I've never seen a team give up more '3rd and long' plays than last year. Maybe it's just me. They got burned short, they got burned long, they got burned on 3rd, they got burned all day. I know the D-line was bad, but I don't recall them getting many coverage sacks either. -

You would be in the small minority who feel that way. The secondary was bad last year, and probably the weakest unit on the team right now, other than receivers. They gave up more 20 + yard receptions than any other team in the league! http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?arc...amp;Submit=Find -
So what do you get for your money (or draft pick).
San-O replied to Brandon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure. Just curious. -

Interesting. Have you seen the draft sight that gives players an actual value? A certain value player would be considered a franchise player, the next a pro-bowl candidate player an so on? -
Reach = Roscoe Parrish Reach = Ryan Denney

Does trent have small hands?
San-O replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like carni' small? -
Well, I'm very high on the off season moves re: the defense. I you willing to spend on L.E. now, or wait until the regular season and see if he shows up? The offense DID suck this past year for several reasons, they were about the worst in the NFL.
-
I realize some posters are very high on Lee Evans, however he absolutely disappeared during more than 1 game last year, really several games. I have become less convinced that he is a # 1 receiver. Maybe the Bils "hydra" G.M. are thinking the same? There are always contributing factors, but he really did just disappear: maybe an effort issue, maybe the Bills don't like him voicing his opinions about the QB situation.

3 or 4 years? This isn't Tom Donahoe, this is Bill Parcells. The hated Fins will be competing with us sooner than later unfortunately.
