I think this is a very good perspective: realistic and unbiased as far as I see. The one thing I keep wondering is, was Jauron doing this to try and play the percentages with sub-par talent his first year, and then injuries his next. This year should be very telling, and hopefully DJ has at least a couple new wrinkles in the game planning or approach. There's that word HOPE again.

Edwards threw a 70 yard TD to Hardy

Throwing the ball 45 yards is showing arm strength? Any high school QB can do that. -
Our second Defensive series- Perfect example

It's funny how Marv said and wrote in his book that he only wanted players that were "intrinsically motivated", and then Marv trades up to get a guy like McCargo. He is starting to seem a lot like Mike Williams, just the other side of the ball. I hate trading up, especially when Buffalo does it with sub-par teams. -
LOL. am I a mOron now, for having read this?

I bet the kool aid drinkers and Losman haters...

I bet the kool aid drinkers and Losman haters...

I'm sorry, I'm confused now: I thought the Losman apologists were the "Kool Aid" drinkers? Actually, there'll be plenty of time for that later when the season starts. We are probably all kool aid drinkers to some extent, as the sad truth is probably 75 % of this board think Bills will make the playoffs this year. Probably the same 75 percent that thought they should have made the playoffs last year. The only think you can say after 1 pre-season game, is that the Bills usually look bad in preaseason, but then confirm those opinions by also looking bad in the regular season. Then there's the "hope" thing: I "hope" they're actually better than this. Then the truth starts to slowly sink in. How many teams have a longer playoff drought than the Bills? Much, much TOO predictable for anyone who has been watching. -
Can one go with under OR over on those bets. I never gambled before. I would take Buffalo going OVER 7.5. That would mean if they win 8, you win? How does Vegas win with the 7.5 line? Could the Peters holdout having anything to do with the line?

Brett Farve, Aaron Rodgers, Doug Flutie, Rob Johnson

Yeah, I remember just being in stunned disbelief. Also saw the Chargers win their only game of the 1 - 15 2000 season there. -

I was at that game. What a disaster. -
The problem is your constant "hindsight" issue. He was the highest rated DT in the draft going in, Marv skipped over him and Bunkley, took a DT NOONE had going anywhere near that high: Ngata did go first as projected, and has turned out to te a stud, again as projected. Quit calling Marv's failure to draft the best DT when available a hindsight issue for everyone else: maybe your's and his, but not too many elses.
-
Yeah, they were the two top prospects. Buffalo moved back into the first round, gave a an additional pick to get McCargo, and there wasn't another DT taken until the beginning of the 3rd round. If Marv was apparently so desperate to get DT in round one, he could have gotten either one, and passed on both.
-
Yeah, I don't think Bills will make playoffs again either, maybe 9-7. For Jets to get better than that, they would need to improve like 5 or 6 games this year? Seems like a lot to improve.
-
Those are good points. I don't think Faulk knows what he's talking about anyway, but why then do the Jets get a pass without proving they are any better than 4-12, but the Bills are going to be worse than them? Same arguement holds: show it on the field. Buffalo was 3 games better than the Jets last year. It is going to be hard for any team to jump up 3 or 4 games in the standings, especially in the AFC.

I still recall all the B.S. explanations and spin he came up with when addressing the press after that game. All the crap statements he kept coming up with made it even more ridiculous: Is it my imagination, or did he actually say something like they "discussed" that strategy before the 2nd half? What a jackass.
-
I've seen him say some pretty stupid things in TV. I don't really think he knows what he's talking about, and doesn't seem particularly bright IMO.

KrazyKat comes to mind immediately.

I know you're joking, but.... I don't really think you can call it a conspiracy, as much as a business decision: o Make the team profitable. o Cut costs: no GM, promote from within, low price coaches. o Make the team more regional, already moved a game to Canada. $$$ o Make the team moderately competitive (not since 2000). o Keep the team young. All this will make the team very appealing, for potential sale. Ralph said it himself, he's not concerned about the fans concern over the team being moved. The only surprise to me, is he named the stadium after himself instead of milking a few extra million selling naming rights again. (Is there another team in ANY U.S. pro sport that has a facility named after the current owner?)

That draft is looking more and more suspect, even more so than last year. This was Marv's rookier draft, had everyone scratching their heads. McCargo looking like a 1st round bust. Youboty might not even make the team this year. Simpson seems to have problems staying on the field. 1 8 Donte Whitner SS Ohio State 1 26 John McCargo DT North Carolina State 3 70 Ashton Youboty CB Ohio State 4 105 Ko Simpson FS South Carolina
-
Nah. The Bills will most likely improve to 9-7, being improved on both sides of the ball. The AFC may take a 10-6 or 11-5 record to make the playoffs. Too much to ask for this year, with first time starting QB, new OC, and DJ in charge, IMO.

Anybody know how much cap room we have?
San-O replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Kelsay contract was horrible. That was the Levy era, and I don't think the 'hydra' GM will be throwing money around like that. I hope not anyways. -
Right. I think sometimes the best D adjustments made, are the ones made before the season starts.

Looks like the D-line is going to accommodate Stroud very nicely. I like it, starting to make more sense. Below from "The Buffalo News". http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/billsnfl/story/402331.html
