If Fitz could throw a ton of high floaters up in the air and have the receiver come down with them (think SJ13 vs Pittsburgh, Donald Jones 2 recent drops, etc) then he'd have another 10-15 touchdowns. Look at Andy Dalton he gets to throw to AJ Green & Jermaine Gresham, 2 guys who are hands down superior to our top WR & TE. Get Fitz, or whoever will be our QB more weapons.

Did you see CJ, FJ & TC rushing stats on the left vs right? Clearly our right side is far below our left. I say we should sign Levitre & Byrd & Urbik & build our LBs via the draft like New England & Pittsburgh do. Our money situation is plentiful if we cut Pears, Kelsay & not extend Merriman, & McGee. If we really want to make a bold move we should cut Fitzpatrick draft a rookie QB & develop Tavaris Jackson this offseason in case the rookie needs time.

LMAO! Best fing song!

Like Ed Reed teams have to account for the Byrd Man on every play. In 2009 Byrd was ball hawking on a historic rookie pace. My assumption is like the Ravens put more QBs under pressure & watch the INTs rain.

You can never have enough invested in your OLine. Figuring the Bills extend Levitre & Byrd the Bills will likely cut Kelsay, Barnett, Pears to free up money in '13. McGee & Merriman's money will also be freed up. We can argue what T spot will maximize Long's longevity but the main question is what is his value assuming he hits the FA market? Long will be 28 and likely looking for a 5-6 year deal that will be his last big pay day. Long can't get top level LT money & we will know this once Miami makes their offer. Most teams will not pay Long top money for 5-6 years given his age & injury history. My estimate is Long will be offered a 5 year deal at 12 million (tops) per year for 60 million total. Locking up a guy who will be 32 the final year of his contract seems reasonable given our needs.

Jake Long is in the final year of his contract and it would cost the Dolphins in the 15 million range to franchise him. http://www.thephinsider.com/2012/12/3/3720632/miami-dolphins-jake-long-injury-last-game-in-miami Quote: "Long is not the Long of the past four seasons. He's routinely struggled in pass protection, although he's been strong in run blocking. But, you don't pay a left tackle to run block. He has to be there to protect a quarterback's blind side. And, when you have a rookie "franchise" quarterback, you really need to be able to protect him." So my question to you Bills fans is if the Phins decide to move away from Jake Long, would you take him in as your Right Tackle? The Bills offensive line would "on paper" be graded as one of the top lines in the NFL from LT to RT. The running game in particular would be extremely strong. Considering the Bills do most of their damage running from the center to the left side, adding Long would significantly upgrade our right side. Suddenly if teams decide to stack the box and put 8 men in the box, Gailey may want to try and run. Flame.

I don't line QBR, it is developed by statistical gurus in this pass happy non bump coverage era we live in. Wes Welker wouldn't have made it in the 70s, or 80s. That said the QB rating system seemed to work for Steve Young who is the all-time leader. I've read about the QBR & like a Wall Street derivative it overstates the value of one player ideally the QB. If you want a real stat why we suck we've been a bottom 8 defense since Gailey took over in 2010.

Aaron Williams Out, Defense Improves

Searcy looks to be a player. I'm all for moving Williams to safety because both Wilson & Scott are 31 & aging. -
When was the last time we beat a "good" team?
Dean Cain replied to uticaclub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand the OPs point, however I will contend that a win is a win especially on the road. Last year Buffalo went 1-7 on the road the lone win being week 1 in Kansas City. This year we are 2-5 on the road & have a good shot at earning a 3rd road win in Miami. A playoff contender needs to beat lesser teams on the road, and win a majority of their home games. Taking a further look at 2012 we blew a home game vs Tennessee, & lost a winnable game in Foxboro, Indy. Even playoff teams play a few bad road games a year. Next season we will need to win 6 home games, & 4 road games to have a shot at the playoffs. -
Eric Wood should follow the ranks of Brad Butler & take an early retirement. I remember watching Monday Night Football when Dennis Miller was the commentator, and he said something to the effect of "Schlereth has been scoped more times than a redneck abducted by aliens". This is the path that Eric Wood is on. Props to Wood if he is willing to continue doing major rehabs every off-season.

2014 year of the quarterback?
Dean Cain replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't the class of 2000 pretty bad after Pennington who wasn't even a top 10 guy? At pick 199 6th round 7th QB taken comes Tommy Brady. -
Ugh. I blew it. My bad. I'm optimistic again.
Dean Cain replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I ran some scenarios after you posted last night. There's a lot of football left 5 games a lot can happen. Look at Pittsburgh, 3 weeks ago they were 6-3 with a possibility of catching Baltimore, now they are the #6 seed & dropping. Count me as an optimist. Our only hope is to win out & Indy goes 1-4 down the stretch, and Pittsburgh & Cincy go 3-2 down the stretch. Also we need San Siego to beat Cincy & Pitts. Our probability is something like 4% which isn't good odds, but assuming we get hot, continue playing good defense and ride CJ and win out our chances improve dramatically. The Jags game is step 1 of 5. -
If the bills had drafted AJ green and andy dalton
Dean Cain replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AJ Green is the best overall player in the 2011 draft, a complete choke job by Buddy not to draft Green. What happened to best player available? Buddy passed on a sure-fire HOFer and got a good player who may or may not make a couple of Pro Bowls. -
How the F did Reggie Wayne get so open

Barnett is a liability and should be shown the door in 2013 for blown coverages like this and poor tackling. -

Well as bad as we've been have we been this bad?

This is what a few bad years does to Jets fans, imagine what 13 straight seasons of sucking would do. -
Good despite Wannstedt's attempts to make him suck.

Very good assessment of the situation from TBN
Dean Cain replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. We need to pull an Indianapolis Colts and go 1-15. Heck at this point we should bottom out for the next 2 seasons and go 0-32. Bet we'd still miss and draft a cornerback instead of a franchise quarterback. -
Capital Gains vs. Estate Tax - Ralph Should Sell Now
Dean Cain replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fergy, the top marginal tax rates will be going upward. We've known this for sometime. I'd wager Ralph has had a plan in place for some time now. From what I've read, Ralph has indicated his family will not be, nor wants, to own & operate the Bills. As the NFL allows up to 30 owners own shares of a franchise & requires one majority shareholder to control 30%, known as the owners equity rule, I would be surprised that Ralph hasn't already sold a fractional interest in the Bills to help pay this tax. In fact, in our highly private world it is likely Ralph has already transferred a portion of our team. Because the Bills are a private corporation they are not required to disclose any private transactions. -

Why aren't we at least trying to force the issue downfield? Either run the damn ball 40 times or throw some deep passes. We have nothing to lose at 4-7.
