Okay, is it time to fire the ST Coach?
Dean Cain replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's always a few weak links of a bad football team. Mark my words at 2-4, we are a bad football by virtue of our record. Football games are partially won by good schematics design by the coaches. Obviously our special teams is woefully deficient in defending punts. We need to get better at it. -
Any idea how long Gilmore has to have the cast??

It's hard to play in the NFL with a cast. -

Stevie = Kaleta as far as refs are concerned

Remember when Nate Clements absolutely leveled Brady in a Dec 2001 game at the Ralph? question - Why wasn't Brady hurt? Answer - Center of gravity. The difference here was while Brady was sliding Manuel got caught with his right leg extended and took an entire hit by a safety direct on his right leg. All Manuel needs to learn is that you slide feet first not head first. Manuel has to get his legs in front of his body & get low. -
Thad Lewis Is A Better Option Than EJ Manuel Right Now

Expect a couple of bombs. -
I agree, but to a certain extent let's simply not throw football under the bus. Concussions happen in a majority of sport; boxing, mma, basketball, lacrosse, hockey, soccer, etc. While football players endure vicious hits, a hockey player endures collisions at speeds greater than football players and professional hockey players play 5 times more games per season.

Listening to WGR this afternoon Schopp & The Bulldog were at Batavia Downs and interviewed Thurman Thomas. In their interview they asked Thurman if he saw this and what followed was pretty amazing stuff: Thurman said that his first concussion was on the sideline from punter Chris Mohr head butting him, Jim Kelly went back into the 1995 Pittsburgh playoff game after being knocked out, and most troubling that Thurman's 12 year old son has had 2 concussions.

The Buffalo Bills Inc. are the toughest businessmen in the NFL. They negotiate the hell out of every player contract, every stadium lease, why would their handling of the blackout policy be any less lenient? Their desire is to profit as much as they possibly can, and that's perfectly acceptable. An idea they should consider would be to "lease" the stadium naming rights for games when a local business picks up the tab and helps sell out the last few thousand seats.

Trade Steve Johnson to Atlanta if the offer is right?
Dean Cain replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would rather see him sit this game out than further expose himself to a more severe injury and decrease his trade value. Given that Atlanta has this week off Steve Johnson could rest up for 17 days before his next game. As for all of those that favor keeping him, at what point is 2013 a lost season? 4, 5, 6 losses? Doesn't it make sense to get some value for our veteran players that obviously aren't going to be in their prime when we finally can make a serious challenge for a playoff spot? -

Trade Steve Johnson to Atlanta if the offer is right?
Dean Cain replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The idea that a WR at age 27 in his 6th season isn't in his prime is a little off base. Assuming Johnson performs at his last 3 years level, is debatable due to injuries at QB, and the youth at the other WR positions. Additionally Steve Johnson has been banged up and doubled throughout the season and that is impacting his performance. What I'm saying is Steve Johnson is likely not the long-term solution at the WR position. The Bills have a #2 WR in Robert Woods. Steve Johnson is a good WR, but he isn't the stud WR that is going to take us to the promised land. As for the poll topic, if you answer NO, don't answer the second question as you didn't answer yes, or depends on what pick is offered. -
Let me preface the following by saying I think Steve Johnson is a good #2 slot receiver option and will be for the next 3-5 years. Steve Johnson appears to be near the height of his athletic and professional ability. At 27 it appears we have seen the ceiling of Johnson's statistical ability, and that is around 70 catches for 1,000 yards and 6 touchdowns per season. While these numbers don't jump off the stat sheet they are good starting WR in the NFL numbers. Atlanta has been devastated at the WR position with injuries to Julio Jones & Roddy White. Atlanta coerced Tony Gonzalez out of retirement for one last swan song. With the hope that they could do for him what Pittsburgh did for Jerome Bettis in 2005, culminating in a Super Bowl victory. Now the question must be asked. If you were Doug Whaley would you at least entertain trading your star WR to Atlanta? The argument can be made that 2013 was always about setting up the Bills for years to come. While Steve Johnson will only be 28 in 2014, it appears that there is depth at the WR position for Buffalo. I understand this would be an unpopular choice among the fan base, as #13 jerseys proliferate any Sunday Bills gathering. This decision would be likened to "tanking" the season a la Cleveland trading their best player Trent Richardson to Indianapolis for a 1st round pick in 2014. One could argue the merits of tanking a season given the results of recent #1 overall draft picks. Additionally I understand that Jairus Byrd is the player most Bills fans want to trade. Steve Johnson chose to stay in Buffalo for a fair value. Johnson has embraced Buffalo, and in turn we have been willing to forgive him for his occasional drops, and antics. What say you?

Tuel's deep ball is good enough, but the pattern was double covered.

Where is The Fan Confidence Level in This Staff ?
Dean Cain replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are a 2-3 team. Of course there is a lot to criticize. For starters it appears there is a certain amount of confusions in making what you the OP would consider routine decisions. As for Tuel, I think they thought Tuel could play. As for the replacement QB they determined Dixon & White were no better than Lewis. As for Hopkins Marrone said his kickoffs had no power. So the decision was made. As for Byrd, it seems there's interest in obtaining value for him if given an acceptable offer. Considering our defense is playing well without him, and given the return of Gilmore this is a logical time to make the trade. Last given all our injuries it's difficult to judge where we'd be. 2013 was always going to be a building year. Assess Manuel, and the young players on the roster and than make a serious push in 2014. -
Geno Smith MNF - Falcons/Jets
Dean Cain replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not surprised to see this outcome. It seems the Falcons are going first to worst. Meanwhile Geno is proving to be a great pick for the Jets. Clutch game winning drive. -

Alot of room out on the limb - We beat Bengals

Go with Jeff Tuel, the kid deserves the opportunity to get his ass kicked around for one afternoon. If he plays well than you give him another start, if he sucks put in the veteran. -
Pat White not signed at this time
Dean Cain replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, the Vikings who had better QB depth get deeper while we get Pat White. -
This guy knows how to punt in miserable conditions on top of being really intelligent. You'd never see that sorry excuse for a punt that gave the Browns the ball on our 31.

Great

8-8 would be a good finish minus EJ, and assuming Dennis Dixon or Pat White is our QB for 4-6 weeks. It's hard to win in the NFL. I still think there's much more this season will reveal.
