  1. I disapprove, only in that I would have told him sign a long-term deal or get franchised. Reason being Byrd would have been 29 in the 2015 season. Most teams don't want to pay a slower speed S who's nearly 30 a 5-6 year deal. I get the Bills rationale - that they didn't want a locker room distraction or another 6 games missed due to plantar fasciitis. I respect the Bills for holding out hope, but wish they deployed a bit more gamesmanship in bringing Byrd to sign a multi year contract.
  2. Byrd got hooked watching True Detective. That sold him on the bayou. Unfortunately my being the only former Bills player to strike it rich on the small screen has lesser pull than an Oscar winner.
  3. Agreed. Might I add I'd also like to see a true run stuffing NT, short yardage specialist, run down extraordinaire. I don't blame Byrd for his desire to play for titles. My concern is New Orleans, home of Carcosa & the Yellow King, the city literally sinking into the Mississippi River delta is not the place to do it. Drew Brees has 1-2 good years left.
  4. Yeah, our offer was even more guaranteed. $30M vs $27M. Obviously the guy "wanted to get away".
  5. OP, I feel the same way after popping a Viagra. But like all things in life, the best things cums to those that wait. ; )
  6. I think Byrd is fine player but at that contract the money is better spent building our roster. We need to improve our trench warfare units.
  7. I'm a big fan of retaining your best players. The early 90s Bills had 4 Hall of Famers. The 2014 Bills likely have 0.
  8. I would have liked the Bills to tag Byrd 1 more year. His market value would be lower given he turns 29 next season. If we told him he was going to get tagged or sign a long-term deal maybe he would have taken our offer. Logically this makes sense given his age next year working against him on the open market.
  9. Give me upgrades at NT, OLB, FS, LG, OT, TE via FA & the draft and I'll be good.
  10. And going to a state where there's no state income tax could be a factor. I expect Byrd to land in Texas or Florida. That additional 10% ding is huge over 5 years.
  11. "you know Carcosa?"
  12. 6 years, $66 million, $33 million guaranteed, Philadelphia Eagles.
  13. "It's hard to resign great players in the NFL."
  14. 6 wins doesn't mean much. No team is built from a safety down. You need a QB, and a hell of a coach.
  15. I strongly believe that the Eagles will go hard for Byrd.
  16. Another injury prone inaccurate QB? Sounds like a typical Bills FO move. Terrell Owens comes to mind.
  17. You had me at "Old, slow, & injured."
  18. Tick, tock, tick, tock....reminds me of the movie Tombstone.
  19. Reading between the lines it appears Byrd wants a better offer from the Bills. What is top safety money? Byrd wants to be the highest paid safety.
  20. Greg Robinson. He's like a mortal version of Dean Cain.
  21. Russell Wilson is pretty good he hasn't yet been asked to carry his team like Rodgers, Manning & Brees
  22. In my home planet we were destroyed not by a foreign invader, yet from within.
