that pick ended up being Harrison Phillips— makes it even better! amazingly, except for our 7th rounder in that 2018 draft, every one of our draft picks are in the NFL and get serious PT (though Wyatt teller and Ray Ray for other teams).

same here. Always root for wins!! Plus, when your Team is bad, odds are they are going to mess up the draft anyway.

I think our team (and others) smartly use anything they can for motivation and to amp themselves up. if you asked how any of them genuinely feel, I doubt they would feel disrespected, or view it as some act of disrespect. i guess my problem is the NFL is facing a crisis re attracting you’re Gen Z fans, and the one fun guy in the league that is a magnet for those fans is being told to keep quiet. beyond that, I also hate how a genuinely good guy is being viewed as a bad actor. I just read an article today about both him and Dwayne Haskins (nightclub incident), and basically saying they are both immature. Seems unfair to equate the two.

I actually think he is being unfairly targeted/blamed for the Steelers’ woes, and this is blown way out of proportion. He’s a pretty fun-loving, nice guy— gives back to the community, always out and about, etc. I sort of like that there are some Gen Zer and millennial types in the NFL like him who don’t take things too seriously and help resonate with younger fans.

college basketball schedule is too tight between games. At least with the weekly schedule in the NFL, there is time to do tracing and all that stuff. This whole season is going to be a mess.

i sort of remember that, but maybe have blocked out the negative plays--I can't remember him doing anything super bad.

If I had to guess, there are two main things that go against Poyer: 1) The way we use our safeties. He's not your classic free safety, and Hyde and him often change up and play up closer to the line. So, when folks are looking at the pro bowl, he's tough to compare to your normal rangy free safeties, like a Fitzpatrick. 2) Relatedly, it seems like at the safety position, all that seems to matter is interceptions. All the guys who made it in the AFC have like 4-6 picks, and some have TD's. Poyer's tackle stats are probably not given enough wait. Also, you wonder if people aren't looking closely enough at the tackles-- e.g., as we all know, he's not like Donte Whitner, who would pile onto the top of a pile 15 yards down field. These are some legit tackles up in the box.

i am with you. Or if Hyde is back there on punts, he needs to be told to fair catch every time. I don’t know why they don’t try McKenzie back there, at least on punts. The other guy that seems like he could be decent is Kumerow. Not sure how fast he is— but something about him makes me think he is fast enough and strong to at least have some decent kick returns.
