  1. I am still wondering if he is worth starting as a straight QB. He obviously has a good matchup this week. I can sort of seeing him exploding-- like 150 yards rushing plus whatever he can get passing. I have Ben R as my other QB, so I'm not sure what to do.
  2. I can’t watch this game. Can’t bear the sight of the cardinals—it’s still too raw.
  3. I think when we go empty 5 WR's, and the defenders are like 7 guys about ready to Blitz JA in the face, they need to think about motioning the back into the backfield more often, to chip and flare out in the flat. I am also surprised they don't run more quick WR screens out of that. We should be absolutely punishing defenses for rushing 7, when we are 5 wide.
  4. i agree. To me, this is priority no. 1. Easy fixes to get teams to stop blitzing 7 guys right at Josh’s face. The counter move has been that WR screen, which Arizona did a good job of stopping the second and third times we tried it against them. So we need to develop some new, additional counter-moves.
  5. I don’t believe this is the intent of the mask mandate. Michigan’s rule expressly carved out pro and college sports teams. I am guessing similar clarification will be coming from the PA governor.
  6. I suspect what happened on the shank is what happens when I line up at the 18th hole with my driver and decide to try to hit the ball 350 yards.
  7. Oh boy. Not a great sign for Nagy’s long-term future there.
  8. These offenses are so predictable. I can’t believe people complain about Daboll. I know every play in this game before it is called.
  9. 1) Blistex 2) Topo Chico sparkling water (in the glass bottle only).
  10. he didn’t pick them because they are so forgettable that they didn’t even make this thread.
  11. yeah, you can never predict these things. but you look at all the AFC playoff teams, almost all of them have much easier schedules left. The browns will Likely end up with 10 Wins simply because they play the NFC East and AFC South this year.
  12. Wouldn’t it have been great if the Bills could have drawn the NFC Central or East this year? These teams are meh.
  13. I have no ill will toward that fan base, or team. Seems like they have a group of classy guys, and guys like Murray and Hopkins are fun to watch.
  14. I think this is what everyone is complaining about. The result of inconsistent officiating, however, is that it can have the effect of disparately impacting one team over the other, given how inconsistent and random the calls/no-calls are.
  15. I agree. I can take the ticky tack stuff if it is called evenly on both sides. But they call a Knox block in the back penalty when the play is over. But they don’t call like 5 of those on the Cards throughout the game. For example, go Back and look at the long Kirk punt return, there were two obvious blocks in the black (like guys flying through the air) right near the point of attack and right in front of the officials’ faces. No calls. The officiating needs to at least be internally consistent through a game or else the players can’t adjust and play, and otherwise it leads to gross disparities. These guys had no clue. They were calling ticky tacks, then not calling ticky tacks. Not calling major penalties. Calling unnecessary roughness, not calling it. (I mean, on one play, Andre was just standing out of bounds for a full second after a KO return and was tackled— no late hit?? Josh— no late hit? But Singletary gets an after the play unnecessary roughness call for a questionable blindside block).
  16. what was brutal too about the end of the game, as I recall, is the Wilford catch was a force out. That was back when the rule was if the DB pushed the receiver out of bounds before he could get his feet in, it's a catch. I think we shoved him out of bounds. That was a sickening ending. I still remember the TV call and announcers' shock about how Elam was able to race out there and make the kick. BTW, note the Bills' historical bad luck on opening games. That Broncos game was the opener. The Jags Wilford game in 2004 was an opener. The Jets OT loss with two 100-year KO returns by Morton was an opener. There are some other horrendous openers I am forgetting.
  17. I was telling my 16-year old nephew about this game, and how I screamed so loud at the TV after that Wilford TD catch that I startled him (he was a newborn baby), and he started crying. I got a lot of mean looks from his parents for that.
  18. i am not going to even watch it because I already like the guy and don’t want this to leave a bad taste in his mouth. His personal story is compelling, and he is a superb player.
  19. This is a good take. Re his defense of the DB's, I have been thinking about it more and tend to agree. I know I have been in the position in basketball a lot where I am boxing out a guy for a rebound, have perfect position, and jump up, and the much more athletic and taller guy gets the ball (with ease)-- and there is nothing I can do. You can't tip a ball that is coming straight down and where you are 6-12 inches below the highest guy. It is impossible.
