out of curiosity, what makes you think he would be a good color commentator? -

Agreed. I thought he was done with the bullying scandal. Then I thought he was definitely done with that bizarre gym incident. Yet, here he still is. I am sure a team signs him— but I am also sure it won’t be us. -

Pretty nuts to think incognito is still even kicking around. Been in the NFL now 15 years. -
Ben takes pay cut in new deal with Steelers
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly have no idea what his value is. In my mind, he’s worth more than wentz, but I don’t know how teams are valuing him at this point. -

pretty intriguing. Bojo had a nice year— but let’s be serious, no one is completely sold on Bojo, probably including Bojo himself. this could be an upgrade. -

Would the jets take a late 1st rounder for Darnold? I suspect that is all that the Steelers could offer. -

Ben takes pay cut in new deal with Steelers

You all are too hard on Ben. Their OC was horrible— just a bad internal hire who has now been let go. And their line was old and terrible. Ben doesn’t have the huge arm and mobility anymore— but he has a big enough arm to make all the throws he needs to. The Steelers-Colts game late last year was clear evidence of that. When he started calling his own plays in that game, the offense looked a lot better. I think this was the smart move to sign him back. Gives them time to find a successor, and I would expect them to be in the fight for a playoff spot with Ben, a better oline, a better OC, and a top-5 defense. -
What About Watson for Jag's No. 1 Pick?

I would do that trade in a heartbeat if I were either team. -
Bills prospect WR Dazz Newsome
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First we are talking about "Tommy Tremble" and now some guy named "Dazz Newsome." Come on-- these names have to be made up! -
One of their best defensive efforts. Offense was a bit stagnant at times, but then the “good” streaky Griffen showed up. I actually thought JG3 played pretty well on both sides of the floor.

Cook as a replacement for Kroft or Smith would be good. I still think Knox is going to be our best option as TE1, and I fully expect him to take his game to the next level. He is, by far, the most athletic TE compared to any other guy that will be floating out on the market. Can he finally put it together? -

You wonder though if those teams will really get much of a competitive advantage. On a whole, with all the cuts and all the teams limited by cap space, my basic knowledge of economics suggests that contract prices will be low (high supply; low demand = low prices). So, other than maybe a few premium FA's, you wonder if the market will be so depressed that there won't be much of a competitive disadvantage. It will be interesting to see the flood of players on the market-- makes me hopeful that we will re-sign Milano. -

Kyle Van Noy cut by MIA, should Bills target him?

If getting stiff armed by Josh Allen is disqualifying, then we can also Kiss Aaron Donald good bye. -
yeah, you could be right. we will see. I do think though most personal injury lawyers with a slam dunk case know how to get these things done. It’s in their interest not to pursue it in court, which will just slow down how they get paid. And the math here isn’t going to be disputed Much— I think you get someone to put together basically a life care plan and estimate of lost earning capacity. If I had to guess, this is going to be like a $10M+. the one issue might be whether Britt Reid doesn’t have the money and his dad or the chiefs won’t contribute to a settlement.
-
I actually expect Reid is going to settle this thing before a lawsuit is even filed. The family will likely be able to get a really great personal injury lawyer given the publicity and the deep pockets; and most of the really good lawyers, can easily settle something like this right away. Makes no sense for anyone to fight this in the courts.

Totally forgot to DVR the UNC game. Just caught the last 2 minutes. Anyone have any thoughts on the game?

that is a solid book. I remember reading it when it came out (1999 or 2000?), when Bourdain wasn’t nearly as famous. There are some other pretty good chef/insider biographies. I remember really liking the book Heat, about a writer who goes and works for Mario Batalli at Babbo. I actually liked that one better than Kitchen Confidential.
