  1. the defensive gameplan was just all wrong. I suspect they would have done things much differently in hindsight.
  2. The guys we replaced them with out-performed those guys. Addison--who had a bit of a down here-- still had more sacks than Shaq. And if you combine his production with AJ Epenesa's--who came on well as the season progressed--the move to let Shaq go made a lot of sense. Phillips was banged up a lot this year in Arizona.
  3. Wait a sec. I read on here that the Bills are like 15 players away from being competitive. Don't they need a new defensive line, new LB core, three new interior o-linemen, a big bruising RB, and a very speedy RB to be competitive? We are still 3, maybe 4, years away!
  4. Three pages in and i Am the first to post this meme— you guys are slipping!
  5. that’s on the coaches more than anything else. The gameplan was there and obvious. As many of us said in the game day thread, run, screens, dump offs. The chiefs were giving us those. Our offense refused to take them. What did the Bucs do on offense yesterday? Dump-downs, screens, 2-TE sets, play action, and some decent running. we have the talent to compete and beat any of these teams. the gameplan needed to be better. They got out-coached; it happens. But It’s like people here forgot about the entire season because they are only focusing on the last game.
  6. the Bucs D looked much better because they were going against JV olinemen. That defense is good— but you make it sound like they are the 1986 bears. We were one of the best 4 teams in the league. They weren’t going to do that to our o-line.
  7. I really believe each week is about matchups. You can say that because the chiefs generated a ton of interior pressure, the Bucs would. Why? We were able to figure out a way to stop the Steelers’ interior pressure, and I would argue that the Steelers have a much better interior defensive front than both the chiefs and Bucs. We were also able to handle the Rams, who also create much better interior pressure. it’s about week to week matchups and gameplans. I bet if we played the chiefs tomorrow, the Bills would double team Jones every time and add a TE in line, and suddenly that unstoppable chiefs D-line looks a lot less fierce. I am not saying we would have beaten the Bucs. But I guarantee you we would have protected and blocked that D-line much much better than the chiefs, who had 3 guys out there on their oline in the super bowl who probably wouldn’t even make our roster.
  8. i don’t think the Bucs would be generating the sort of pressure they did last night against the bills. Our tackles would hold up much better. Plus, while TB’s LB’s are solid, our game really exploits secondaries, and I think their secondary is more vulnerable.
  9. We had an elite pass rush this past year. 5th best— better than Tampa. Sure, it can improve. But I suspect it would have looked fierce yesterday going against that KC line. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2020-pass-rush-rankings
  10. On a related note, Barrett is sort of an amazing and interesting story. He was an UDFA out of Colorado state for Denver. Played as a backup and PS player. Just spent his time grinding and learning everything he could from Von Miller and Demarcus Ware. Denver liked him but let him walk because they had Chubb and Miller. Then he is ready to sign a somewhat long-term deal with Cincy, and Cincy pulls the plug on it. he scrambles to sign a 1-year deal with Tampa in 2019, and get 19.5 sacks!! He is going to be signing a monster deal this off-season, and deservedly so.
  11. never rarely had to blitz tonight— it was a total Jailbreak on most of those dropbacks just bringing 4.
  12. agreed. If he couldn’t adjust to that, then I am not sure what they are doing on the sideline as coaches. Bowles always plays that zone. Mixing it up on 3rd down doesn’t seem to be something that can’t be solved through some better playcalling and execution. just a terrible Job by the chiefs coaches.
  13. weird. You would think they could adjust to what the Bucs were doing. I am not sure there was anything confusing about it.
  14. the chiefs offensive coaches got totally Schooled. They didn’t adjust at all to the Bucs 2-high coverage. When we did the same thing, the chiefs either ran the ball really well, or got the ball to Hill in space about 7-8 years out and he got a ton of RAC.
  15. Who knows? These games are so much about match-ups. I actually think our O Would have done better than the chiefs did, but the Bucs balanced attack On offense would have given our D some problems.
  16. Can you imagine the text chains josh had with diggs and others during this game? I am sure they wished they had a mulligan.
  17. mahomes invented the 30-yard sack. I was shocked when josh had two of them. He hasn’t taken sacks that bad ever.
  18. We are both so sick. I suspect we are both simultaneously seething over the same football slights.
  19. what makes it great is that it was a non-bills player and so you don’t have to worry about any blowback. reminds me of when the Patriots got a joke of a penalty call against the ravens back in the day, and Bart Scott picked up the flag and threw it into the stands. Loved it. And didn’t have to worry about a bills player getting fined or ejected.
  20. I changed my mind. I am with you. also, that was not roughing. Three guys smooshed him very legally.
  21. Reid is a seriously meh head coach. Not really blaming him for this loss, but not seeing his “genius.” A buddy of mine thinks he won’t relinquish playcalling duties because he is worried people will realize he’s not that smart of an offensive coach.
