Tomlin kicking FG down 17 in the 4th qtr— the exact same call McDermott made today. -

Watching this game, why don’t we run any of these crossing routes that both of these teams run? -

this is a great take, and really hits home how this game on offense really came down to execution errors. -

i have seen this take a lot today. Maybe i am missing something, but the protection seemed to be totally fine today by the oline, and Ford wasn’t noticeably bad. In fact, the line looked good on some of those outside zone runs. Again, I could be off on this, but I am chalking up the bad passing game to execution errors (drops, errant passes), weather, and poor decision making by JA. -
Agreed. it is total bush league, especially with a freshman. Give the kid a break, and coach him up; don’t publicly reprimand him after the second game of the season.

Blame the playcall. Just run a dump off or draw, and it was 8-10 yards. -
its not really that. It’s more that you want to play your best ball late in the year, at the right time. In other words, there is time to right the ship for when we really need to be at our best.

i put the forced throws today more on Josh than the line. Protection seemed fine. It wasn’t rocket science. They ran cover 2 like all day. Throw it to your RB’s, throw it to Beasley in the short area, Knox in the seam, and don’t force it to your receivers. Josh was desperately trying to force it down field to Diggs.

Doesn’t every team in the league have pretty regular D-line rotations? Maybe you don’t take a TJ Watt off the field— but otherwise, I am pretty sure this is standard practice outside of the superstar players.

I think we will see lots Of doomsday takes here until we beat NO on Thursday, as I am sure we will. The reality is that we haven’t really hit our stride yet this year, and that actually gives me hope— you sort or want to peak at the right time. So I am hoping it all sort of comes together down the stretch.

Thinking about this game more, I believe it came down to third downs more than anything. Coming in, I knew we had to get off the field on defense on 3rd down. We didn’t. They were 8/12 on 3rd down conversions. -
Bills want stadium deal done by the end of the year

If not the Minny stadium, then at least Lucas Oil with the retractable roof. open air stadiums in cold weather cities are a thing of the past. -
i don’t mind one of those Allen runs occasionally. But to your point, we could have run that exact same play with the ball in Breida’s hands. No need to put Allen in harm’s way.

The Good News and The Bad News

i don’t disagree with the personnel analysis generally, but the oline seemed to actually play well today. Not the sort of horrible performance against Jax, and they did well on outsize zone runs and sweeps. -
Agreed. I think he has finally figured out the kind of runs that make sense for this team. The sweeps and pulling stuff really Seems to be working now. Just got to call them more.
-
Breida shouldn’t have taken himself out when he was tired. He did so on the drive when he had two really good runs. If I am fighting for PT, I am not leaving that field unless I am yanked off.

Offense did well, and the scheme was sound. Just some bad execution mistakes at really bad times (3rd down drops, penalties, fumble). If there is a complaint, it’s that Josh could and should take more what the defense is giving him. He could have had Beasley for 6-yard passes any time he wanted. -

1) we don’t match-up well with the colts, but even moreso without Star and Edmunds. 2) the weather hurt us and helped them. 3) Josh continues to fight what the defense gives him. He could have cut them up with a million passes to Beasley, but tried to force too much down field. -
