Super Bowl First Half Thread

Don’t get the running short on both 2nd and 3rd down. 2nd and short is perfect to open it up. -

Lot of early jitters. That said, KC and Buffalo have to be laughing at home at these two teams. Both are far better. -

haha— I am Not springing for the real deal for this party! i actually went on a short-lived vegan kick for a few weeks last year. During that period of misery, I discovered this trader’s joe fake chorizo, and it was the one of the few vegan things that I will continue to eat. -

Poor guy— going to be quite the struggle to be balancing a job while being married. Quite a lot to ask of anyone. -

We are going to a party, and my wife is making fruit salsa, and I am doing a queso with chorizo. The chorizo is actually a vegan product from Trader Joe’s that is an excellent replica. -

i love rubio‘s fish tacos! Too bad SD doesn’t have a team anymore, or that could be on a future super bowl menu! i am unsure if I can even watch this game tonight. I have avoided all super bowl media for the last two weeks. -

coming up with “LA foods” has to be a challenge. Unlike other cities in California, there doesn’t seem like there are a lot of interesting LA-specific foods. Sort of matches their team and “fans.” -
I actually think he was a solid signing for us. I was really skeptical at first, but he was huge for the first part of the season. I think his knee injury really derailed him.

Hate to always be griping about the refs, but 21 FT’s to 4? In these games where the opposing team plays super aggressive hand-checking man defense And the refs let them get away with it, we lose.

Bills Hire Kyle Shurmur, Son of Pat Shurmur
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
14% isn’t small, IMO— especially when you consider that NFL coaching is the absolute pinnacle of that profession. I mean, the NFL can do whatever it wants. But they shouldn’t be complaining about minority hiring issues when they don’t do anything to limit nepotism. -

Good article about nepotism in the NFL. Bottom line is that 14% of all coaches in the NFL have a biological or marriage relationship to current or former head coaches: https://defector.com/just-how-big-a-problem-is-nepotism-in-nfl-coaching/ -
you gotta get that pan pizza at little Caesar’s. If made properly, it is an excellent Detroit style pizza.

i will say that I know a lot of really good former college players who would jump at the chance of being a QC coach in the NFL, but instead they are grinding it out and watching film for big high school programs or D3 programs. Maybe Kyle Shurmur is really good, but his dad’s connections got him this job. -

A lot don’t. A lot of companies have very strict nepotism policies. -

the NFL has a serious nepotism problem. Kyle Shurmur will probably be a head coach some day— just like Kyle Shanahan, Nathaniel Hackett, steve Bellichick, etc. That is the bigger underlying issue that is a root cause of all the Rooney Rule issues. -
i agree with you. The number of failures in the playoffs is alarming, especially with no juggernaut teams in the way (like with the pats in the AFC). He is 1-4 in NFCCG’s.

with the fluke bounce off the backboard on the corner 3, which won the game for Butler, as I recall.

to think, we legit could have won the championship that year if he didn’t go down.

Welp, there goes the season. Edwards broke his wrist. https://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2022/02/jesse-edwards-fractures-wrist-will-be-out-for-the-rest-of-the-syracuse-basketball-season.html

haha— so true. I am sure Dougie now claims credit for Hackett being from “his coaching tree” too. -

i actually thought he did a nice job in Jax. He came in, stabbed the HC in the back, and then took full credit for the superb defense that that guy built en route to one good season. When he couldn’t take credit for other people’s work anymore, the team went into the toilet, and he got out of dodge with millions. So, mission accomplished. -
That Syracuse/BC game was frustrating to watch! The officiating just struck me as so one-sided. BC hand checking all game and no foul calls, and Edwards is breathing on guys and fouls out in 14 minutes of play? just glad they survived that one.
