Ben Roethlisberger officially retires
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think it was an act. I have some close friends who are friends with him and his wife, and it seems like it was a pretty genuine change, at least from their accounts. -

Ben Roethlisberger officially retires
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
Congrats on a great HOF career! A mixed legacy, for sure, but from all accounts, he also found faith and family and turned around his life after his early career off-field issues. -
haha— love the Texans quip.

Phenomenal hire. I think he is one of the best assistant coaches in the entire league.
-
We just invested a 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks in the DE position. I think the team should put faith in the development of the current players. They have all flashed.

Haack Likely 1 and Done in Buffalo
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, I don’t think Haack is as bad of a signing as everyone says (and I have been a big Haack critic). he is an elite holder—I guess Sanders had a career year last year and Bass had one this year. And outside of the Jets game in tough wind conditions and the Steelers block, he was average as a punter. I am all for upgrading, but would tolerate bringing him back if we can’t find someone who is significantly better. -
i can’t believe Hazlett was still coaching!

Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
well, all I am going off is that Beane presser, and there is nothing in it that suggested to me that they want to move on from Daboll. It is clear they love him. Probably a moot point, because it seems like he is gone anyway. yeah, I am not necessarily disagreeing. It’s just that the QB play in that game on both sides was so phenomenal that no one was stopping those guys. As to the upgrades at end, I would put money on Groot becoming a pro bowler next year. We have our Star pass rusher on our roster already. He will take that same step up that TJ Watt took between his rookie and second seasons. -
Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27

you could be like the chiefs and pay like a $100M for Chris Jones, Frank Clark, Melvin Ingram, and others— and yet have Josh Allen completely and totally Shred them. With Allen and Mahomes, it doesn’t really matter much who you have out there playing D line. -

these are not good hot takes. I listened to the same PC, and they would love to keep Daboll, and if not him, then Dorsey.- 267 replies

i think there is a wrong perception that a head coach is a “promotion.” It’s just a different job. I would argue being an OC and calling your own plays is a better job. But I obviously get why people angle for HC spots. It’s just that— sometimes, it is better to be content in a job than you love than go for a “higher” Job that you could possibly hate. But I guess to each his own.

Daboll has probably the best job in the NFL. Offensive coordinator with total control over the offense. Stud QB. Coaches for and lives in home town. Job security and great ownership. i know he probably wants to give being a head coach a shot, but why not make the decision harder for him? Give him a raise and make him assistant head coach. That would also allow him to bide his time for a better HC job down the line. We would be saving him from the Giants, who are going nowhere.

Jags Finalizing deal with Byron Leftwich [Edit: Or Not]
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for him! My one story about Leftwich. I was walking out of a building about 15 years ago, and wasn’t looking where I was going, and literally bumped right into Leftwich. I was so shocked, that i didn’t even say anything. Thankfully, he seemed nice about it! -
I can’t believe I just watched that Pitt/Syracuse game. Two middling teams shooting 25%, and the refs didn’t bother showing up also.
-
This is the most improbable thing I have ever heard.
-
oh, okay. Gotcha! Thanks.
-
huh? Good luck? Barty beat Pegula in straight sets. That sounds like terrible luck— Bills lose and then their owner’s daughter loses.
-
i believe we have him in Greg Rousseau. People Forget he was a rookie. TJ Watt was drafted around the same spot as him, and really came on in year 2. I can see Groot making that same leap.

Beat KC? Beat Hill and Kelce, 41 Catches, 536 YDS, 4 TD's
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
i just think it is really hard to extrapolate anything bigger here because this game was so weird. In the span of 7 minutes, there was almost 300 total yards of offense. That was just unprecedented. Are Hill and Kelce excellent players? Yes. That combo is better than our combo of best players. And I agree with the concept that we need those sorts of playmakers. The Bills get almost nothing in YAC, and that is the chiefs entire offense. It helps when you have Hill And Kelce. But, how the Bills defended the chiefs last night? I would argue that the plan was to take Hill And Kelce away; and it worked for like 80% Of the game, but Mahomes scrambled/broke tackles like a thousand times to crack the code early on, and then hill And Kelce got us in the end.
