  1. i liked hearing the other day how kingsbury refused to pump Ertz for information on the colts (re his time with reich and wentz). Said something like, “blood is thicker than water.” if I am Barkley, why am I telling the falcons anything? They are just using you and will cut you next week. Why actually even bother showing up honestly, or just tell them, “ if you want me to play or be part of the team, great; if you want me to just give you some insider knowledge, sorry.” It’s insulting, especially to a long-time vet.
  2. I am a little surprised at the idea of Dane Jackson struggling against the pats. Giving up a few catches in zone coverage doesn’t seem like “struggling”— but I can’t read this and really haven’t gone back and watched the game again.
  3. i did the same. Did one of those cleansing 14-day vegan diets too at the same time. It was like death for 3 days. My whole body, head, joints ached. after the 14 days, I considered giving up caffeine for fear of another bout of withdrawal down the road. But i went back to it. just drink about a 20-ounce cup of coffee with cream and a few Splendas every morning.
  4. we went camping in the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania about 10 years ago. It rained the first night, so we headed into the nearby town of Wellsboro. I was just struck at how nice it was. Old Victorian homes; wide streets and sidewalks; gas lamps down the streets; quaint shops and restaurants. I am not sure how a neat little affluent quaint town is out there (maybe old timber money and tourism?), but it was such a gem. You can probably live right in the town, or in a number of woodsy areas outside of there. Then, in the area, you have these beautiful mountains, gorge, and like 100 miles of rail trails. you are also less than an hour to Watkins Glenn And that area of southern NY. I think the only downside is that it is remote— I am not sure what the nearest airport is. Probably a regional one?
  5. my opponent (not a Bills fan) has Josh Allen going too. That said, I am not conflicted. I want Allen and the Bills to do really well, and to obviously win. But if it so happens that Patterson has a good game and— say— Devin vultures in to steal some of Josh’s TD’s, then I will resign myself to accepting that result.
  6. Or how about Tioga County? Wellsboro, PA is one of the nicest towns I have been to. Quaint town, and you are right in the “Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.”
  7. agreed. Tom Brady proves this point. He just spent 20 years throwing 5-yard passes to Kevin Faulk (and various clones), and no one could stop him.
  8. my fantasy team this year agrees. Just need one more great game out of CP for my first title in 20 years (yes, 20 years— that’s sad, I know).
  9. This is a great thought. We have the room on the PS since Fromm has gone on to be the star starting QB for the Giants.
  10. Never thought I would say this, but we need Ford to come off that list soon, given the lack of depth at guard and JF not having played a lot and coming off being sick.
  11. Agreed I don’t know how many snaps Ankou has been getting, but every time I see him out there, he looks very good— stout at the point of attack.
  12. The popular theory I have heard is that both guys are so great yet so interchangeable that it makes it hard to distinguish between the two. And that makes it hard to give any particular one guy an award of any kind.
  13. If this is the standard, then everyone except the super serious/hospitalized type guys will play. Won’t everyone else just load up on Tylenol and play?
  14. what is amazing about the Steelers is that they actually have a plausible path to the playoffs and a path to host a playoff game as a 4 seed still! They need to beat both cleveland and Baltimore (which they have already done this year). And cincy has to lose to KC and cleveland (cincy was blown out by cleveland earlier this year, so, again, plausible). If that plays out, there is a good chance New England goes to Pittsburgh. Assuming Watt is healthy, I would not like that matchup if I were you.
  15. what an entertaining game! Amazing that Deion was on the kickoff team! edit: and talk about inept coverage on that last drive by the Bills (specifically Odomes and Kelso)!
  16. Like I said, we were there for part of a day, so I don’t have a great sample size. Stopped there between Sedona and Grand Canyon. I was just struck by the area— mountainous, wooded, and temperate— and yet close to the dessert. And the city itself felt very young and hip— sensed the restaurant scene was great (we ate at an awesome place). one of our friends told my wife and me recently that Flagstaff was basically her favorite city, and a place she would move to if she could. Definitely seems like it has retirement potential.
  17. Weather update. Wind is looking about 10-12 MPH, with gusts around 20-25 MPH. Not ideal conditions, but not terrible. If your wind can stay below 20, it won’t have a major impact. What’s funny is that the wind gusts will be the highest at game time than at any point of time all week!
  18. we need to vacation together— three of my favorite places! i will say that the next time i go to Sedona, I am thinking of splitting it up and spending more time in Flagstaff. We just spent a quick day over there when we visited the area, and I thought it was a super cool town.
  19. i remember a friend of my brother in law in the Ohio snow belt bolted for St. Petersburg. Said it was super affordable— like decent houses close to the beach for $200’s. It’s been a few years, so I am not sure if much has changed.
  20. I may be the only one saying this, but I think Ford has looked much better (maybe even “good”) over the last several games he has played. With Ike out too, we are going to need him down the stretch.
  21. Since we are talking about horrible Bills/Falcons memories, anyone remember this dandy? 2013 Toronto game, where more “fans” were wearing Falcons jerseys than Bills ones: https://www.espn.com/nfl/recap?gameId=331201002
  22. Colts are going to have to figure out a way for someone to generate Wentz’s 50 yards of passing and 6 near interceptions per game production…. and fast.
  23. So, Cole Beasley was right all along. He was out last week solely because of the rules.
