  1. so dumb. You have Mahomes waiting to go up 14-0. Why try to block a punt?
  2. well, it could happen. You know he is going to end this game 9/24 for 155 yards and a TD. So, this could be his one good drive!
  3. who do you cut or Bench? We have a boatload of DE’s.
  4. thanks, Kelce. Gives me a nothing burger in my fantasy championship last week, and walks in for a TD today.
  5. They even drafted our version of EJ Manual (Lock), and signed our version of Tyrod (Bridgewater).
  6. This Fangio D is so frustrating to play against. He invented this 2-high shell that everyone now loves to play. Has turned offensive football into dink and dunk. Chiefs will score a TD here but will take 20 plays to do it.
  7. you look at the broncos team and they have a ton of talent on the offensive side especially. Sutton, Jeudy, and Patrick at WR. Fant at TE. Williams and Gordon at RB. That total group of skill players is arguably like a top-5 group. But with no QB, it doesn’t matter.
  8. That seems about right. I really like Fangio, and his guys always seem to Play hard for him. If they had better QB play this year, they could have made the playoffs.
  9. Strange time for a release, unless they want to Give him a chance to sign with a contender.
  10. There is a difference between knowledge and how to communicate that knowledge. Most of these color guys have very bland talking points and stick to them. They very rarely impart anything knowledgeable that an average fan wouldn’t know. I think some of that is due to lack preparation, but most of it is lack of ability in understanding how to communicate insightful comments in real time. Did you know that the Falcons threw a bunch of exotic coverages at Josh and the Bills last sunday? They would show cover 3, but do like a cover 2 robber, which apparently would confuse Josh. Isn’t that something a good color commentator (especially a former QB) would identify and communicate in order to Explain what was occurring on the field? Instead, the viewer is left wondering what is going on, and Sanchez vapid comments like, “he shouldn’t have thrown that ball there.”
  11. Not only effort, but consistency. He has played here for 10 years and missed 1 game (last year). i actually think the Bills May sign him to another 1-year deal.
  12. was that the last cuse game against Miami? Whoever was announcing was horrendous. I think they may have both been doing it remotely too.
  13. i guess my point is that the interview pool universe needs to be expanded. There are some content creators that may not be dynamic speakers, but I know for sure there are others that are— because I listen to them. And there are lots and lots of former players that don’t provide any insight and/or are terrible speakers. it would be nice if the networks at least opened up the pool to some of these film guys. It might be a nice of change if each network had a guy like this on their roster of otherwise former player types.
  14. It is true that they can take you “inside the huddle,” but they don’t. They have 3-5 basic talking points usually. Go back and listen to Sanchez from last Sunday. He added literally nothing to the broadcast by way of content. For example, did he ever once explain the coverages that were being run by either team?
  15. Interesting take. Not saying I disagree with you, but I wonder if football ratings are through the roof in spite of the low quality of the analysis. I think it is rare when I have heard anyone think highly of a color commentator (Romo? Anyone else?).
  16. The other idea I had floated for a while is that for every game, the booth adds a local beat writer of the home team as the third person on the broadcast. That would Add somebody who actually had some substantive knowledge of the home team.
  17. Happened a few weeks ago, and it was a great pickup. He is good insurance. And he is almost identical in every way to Haack statistically.
  18. I think we can all agree that there are a lot of terrible football (and really sports) color commentators out there. I believe the NFL needs to change its hiring model. i think there was this belief that hiring former players and coaches as commentators would cause fans to like them or watch them more because of their popularity. I don’t think that assumption is right. I don’t know anyone who likes a commentator or his work just because he was liked or known as a player. There are now so many really brilliant content creators out there (media, podcasts, YouTube) who dissect film endlessly and would provide so much better and more astute analysis than the likes of Tiki Barber or Adam Archuletta Or Troy Ailman, or Brian Griese, or Mark Sanchez, etc. I would like to see the NFL shift away from the hiring of recently retired players and instead look at some of these “film nerds” as possible hires. As average football fans are getting smarter and more into the X’s and O’s, the current model of having former players trot out a bunch of vapid talking points is not working. Any thoughts?
  19. That was exactly JA’s mindset. There were a lot more of those plays where Knox was just floating out there for an easy 5 yards and Josh ignored him. It was noticeable in real time all day. While I think the Falcons did some things to try to limit knox, I don’t think that was why he had a quiet game. Josh just didn’t feel like throwing it short a lot. I also think the combination of the Falcons doing some tricky things in coverage and the oline protecting Josh well caused him to basically avoid the checkdowns. He looked all around downfield for a while and if he couldn’t find someone, then he would run.
  20. Pretty amazing to see him mature. When he first got here, he would commit like at least 2-3 super dumb penalties per game. Was a bit of a hot head. Seems like he really matured and became a true process guy. BTW, i saw Kelvin Sheppard the other day on TV— he is an assistant coach for the Lions.
  21. How about these moves? One of my favorite Hughes moments. Broncos/Bills 2020 TD return: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gBnCP1r7Y04
  22. Given that he loses in the NFCCG every year, doesn’t he always boycott the super bowl?
  23. Their D line is good. Quinnen Williams is better than any DT we have on our team. I think Saleh even has said it is the best D-line he has ever coached— high praise, considering who he had in San Fran. i don’t know all the jets problems, but given the talent they have in their front 7 really on D, seems weird they get gashed on the ground. I will be curious to see how we do against them running the ball.
  24. jets are a weird team to figure out. They are elite on the D-line, yet still seem to get gashed in the run game.
