  1. That is the model. Draft a franchise QB, and draft/develop young talent around them for the long haul, and be in the hunt for a SB every year. The Steelers had 3 SB appearances, 2 SB wins, and haven’t had a losing season in 19 years. The NFL has really become a matchup league. I think you are better off trying to have a sustained successful model to make the playoffs every year, and then try to get a path of favorable matchups to win the SB. The Rams model is just risky, and it is no guarantee that it will work. They should have lost last week, when their heavily Leveraged defense choked. And, as constructed, there is no chance they could beat the Bills or Chiefs. They are lucky they won’t have to play them.
  2. Rams’ model is high risk, and high and short-lived reward. Seems like you have a lot of other teams that have a proven track record of success of drafting and developing your own talent (eg, patriots, Steelers).
  3. This game came down to execution. The bengals bracketed Hill and Kelce. They rushed 3 or 4. But unlike our game, the Bengals wrapped up Mahomes and he set the edge well on their rushes. Mahomes had 3 Carries for 19 yards. That was the difference.
  4. mahomes said the bengals didn’t adjust at halftime. They did the exact same thing.
  5. Those players are great. But our team defense is better. I mean, everyone wants to point to the Chiefs game last week as an indictment on the quality of the defense overall. They got beat by the chiefs. But they also beat the chiefs earlier in the year. They are a great team defense, and the stats bear it out, as do the comments of all the opposing coaches who play us. The Rams gave up 27 points and 350 yards to Tom Brady and one healthy receiver last week, and choked away the game basically, until Stafford bailed them out. i just think people are judging the bills D pretty harshly based on last game, and really the last 13 seconds of that game.
  6. You can’t compare the rams D going against this San Fran offense with the bills defense against the chiefs offense. The Niners have like 3 passing routes.
  7. So it seems like the bengals didn’t really adjust a lot. They played the chiefs pretty straight, but with a spy, all game. Per PM: “They just had a spy on me, for the most part, and I’ve usually done a good job getting around that guy, but they had a good game plan,” Mahomes said, via TheAthletic.com. “They were doing a lot of similar stuff in the first half, we were just executing at a higher level. They stayed with it. But I mean, I gotta be better. I mean when you’re up 21-3 at one point in the game, you can’t lose it, and I put that on myself.” https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/01/30/patrick-mahomes-you-cant-go-up-21-3-and-lose-thats-on-me/
  8. On that screen, the rams oline were like 10 yards down field before the ball was thrown!
  9. Josh and the Bills offense was peaking at the perfect time. We would have scored like 40 points today. I also think our D matches up with everyone else left. Just tough.
  10. I can’t believe one of these teams will be in the SB, and we won’t be there.
  11. Did he ever? What a colossal waste of an NFL career.
  12. These rams “fans” don’t deserve a SB. Just saw some guy in a chargers jersey in the stands— give me a break.
  13. What’s funny is that that was what I fully expected out of Sammy Watkins in Buffalo.
  14. Agreed. additionally, without a chiefs SB victory, the whole “13 seconds” will fade from NFL history.
  15. i am referring to the bulk of the game. I agree that both the scheme and execution was not right in the 13 seconds. But the overall defensive scheme that the Bills ran was the same as the bengals did today. Bengals just executed better and Mahomes executed at a much poorer level.
  16. Haha— did someone just merge my thread into Beebe‘s? That’s just rude!
  17. The reality is Mahomes in OT, threw two uncatchable balls and forced the third into double coverage. So much of this game is execution, not coaching. Bengals executed; Mahomes didn’t. Last week, it was the opposite.
  18. I bet it was neat for the fans to watch PM run around in circles and watch the brilliant Reid and/or EB meltdown in the biggest game of the year. wonder what Collinsworth thought of Mahomes’s 20-yard sack on the most important play of the game?
  19. For anyone at the game today, how was the atmosphere at Arrowhead, especially around 6 PM? Just curious.
