Don’t get me wrong. I agree with this. That’s why I said both are great and very opportunistic. Hamlin and Johnson are not as good, and they probably can’t get the 2-5 picks that Hyde and Poyer get on average each year. But it seems like these backups can play disciplined in our scheme.

This is a good point. It is becoming clearer to me that the scheme we run here may have contributed to the success of our safeties (and corners.). hyde and Poyer are great, and they are always around the ball And are very opportunistic. But you have to remember that both these guys were late draft picks and mostly backups until they got here.

This is why I think the NFL is approaching the Rooney Rule the wrong way. If you have a strong nepotism policy, you won’t have to worry about the Rooney Rule or the lack of minority candidates. I guarantee that if your dad was some sort of coach in the NFL, you would (with zero experience) be able to get some type of coaching job (at least an entry level one) in the NFL tomorrow. The NFL has a serious nepotism problem.

I bet the pats say that Mac didn’t look right with his ankle still, and that gives them the ability to go back to him next week if needed.

Zappe is making the right reads, throwing accurate balls, and getting the ball out. Yeah, guys are open— but he is still doing the right things. Fields is dropping the snaps, throwing ducks, and running around the backfield for 5 seconds because he can’t process any of his options.

how about a top-15 in the league QB? I can’t think of a single Ohio State QB who meets that criterion.

Fields is really bad. Has there ever been a good Ohio State QB in the NFL? You don’t have guys streaking wide open by 10 yards like in college. Zappe outplaying the Alabama and Ohio State guys out there.

I am really juiced for this game. As I recall, Aaron Rodgers embarrassed us pretty well the last few times we played the packers. We got one win, through a bunch of weird flukes, where the GB receivers dropped a bunch of balls. I really hope we blow these guys out.

Its the same people that liked to throw EJ Manuel into their trade scenarios.

can you imagine if Watkins had won MVP? Would have been so classic Watkins— terrible for 99% of his NFL career and show up for the one big game.

My buddy who is a Steelers fan said he thought Johnson was supposed to come back for that ball. Maybe? Johnson makes a million mental errors, so that pick could have been on him.

I have no idea what the Steelers have in Pickett. He makes that clutch friermuth pass, and then that trash one. Maybe he will figure it out?

yeah, I am feeling that too. He has a few more dump-offs in him, and then he will be forced to take his shots. sort of surprised with pickett’s arm strength— he is not putting a lot on the ball.

I am a little worried about Sammy next week. He is usually good for one decent game each year, and he hasn’t had one for this year.

Man, these are some good ones! My problem is that I am too loyal. I spent like 5 years between HS and into college working at Wendy’s. In addition to getting chewed out all of the time by managers and customers, I got like one raise that entire time (from $4.25 to $4.50).
