  1. I can’t even watch this with the local game going over!
  2. awesome game. My boy Copeland came to play! Loved seeing Hima get some great minutes too. BTW, how awful were those Homer Georgetown announcers?! I haven’t heard anything like that!
  3. you are right about the mental issues. Appreciate the support!! I will report back!!
  4. McKinnon scares me more that the Spaz Pacheco.
  5. I have taken a bunch of lessons, watched a lot of YouTube videos, listen regularly to multiple golf podcasts, and practice very regularly. Yet I can’t seem to ever break 90. I actually remain puzzled by it, because I feel like my short game is now decent and my putting very much improved. My irons are pretty good, though not long. And I drive it long. I basically tend to have one bad shot per hole, and then you add that up, and it’s basically bogey golf or where I am— 90s. i did play a 9 holes once this summer where I shot a 40. I realized during that round that my chipping was almost perfect. I chipped to within 4 feet or less a bunch of times, leaving 1-putts. I am guessing if I can up my short game to that level consistently, I can shave a lot of strokes off. But that is hard!
  6. yeah, that double bogey rule is a good rule. I will have to use it. I actually hit my irons pure— just not as much distance as I would like. I am going to try to start taking more of a divot next season— I tend to pick the ball clean and I suspect that I lose yardage that way.
  7. I have long arms and so I think in my driver swing, I am really able to whip through it. Doesn’t help me as much in irons, where I don’t hit it nearly as far. I basically shoot low 90s out there. It’s frustrating because I feel like my game is solid all the way around, but I can never put it together in a round. A few blow-up holes and it’s over.
  8. I am not holding my breadth on this one. Pittsburgh will have some defensive scores, and Zappe will come down to earth.
  9. for a high handicapper like me, it’s not so simple. I can drive the ball like 250-275, but my iron play is up and down, and so in the fairways is where I really need the distance.
  10. I am starting my kids on golf and tennis young. As I think you know, I was more of a tennis player as a kid, but mostly self-taught. That meant my ceiling was as a decent high school doubles player. Hoping my kids can get that early formal training and be better at ground strokes than me. same with golf. My youngest ones are in elementary school And we have been to the range a bunch. Going to have them do some clinics now. I came to golf pretty late (mid 30s), and wish I had done it as a kid. By the way, you should play more golf! My buddy’s dad has this saying: “beware of the injured golfer.” That rotator cuff won’t slow you down— probably will make you swing better and smoother.
  11. I agree— one of the fun things about golf is figuring out ground contact! but I don’t know about taking a divot— if she doesn’t have good club head speed, I would just say pick it clean?
  12. If the OP in the “burned out” thread wasn’t already burned out, this might have put him over the top!
  13. I hear you. In a weird way, following the drought teams was easier. They would often punch above their weight. It’s more disheartening when the team is really good and falls well below expectations.
  14. I am infuriated by this. How out of touch can they be? If they want to change it for the pros, fine. But amateurs? I play a ton of golf and it is hard. I can’t be losing 10 yards on my shots. By the way, I really can’t believe that there are so many amateurs out there that are too long on their courses. I have rarely played with a scratch golfer who even plays off the back tees, let alone that one who plays off the backs and out hits the course?
  15. This. Lenny needs to sit. Ty needs a lot more touches.
  16. Nice win against Cornell. but what is the deal with Benny Williams this time? I just can’t believe he can’t get out of the doghouse.
  17. Why don’t they just bring back NFL Europe? That was nice as a developmental league (a few guys transitioned to the NFL; I am recalling Orande Gadson and maybe even the great Brian Moorman). And I think the fans in Europe enjoyed it.
  18. In a game with two backup QBs, don’t you defer in OT and let the other team have the ball first? Everybody knew a FG was going to win the game.
  19. Jags may not even make the playoffs now.
  20. they are doing whatever they want on offense tonight with a backup QB on a pretty strong defense.
  21. Zac Taylor’s scheme is so simple and yet effective. They seem to get 5-8 yards on every dump down and screen. Very simple stuff.
  22. Still irks me that we lost to this Jax team…. And honestly this bengals team. The D was fine— the O was still in its horrible rut.
  23. Agree. This is such a unique situation. He has been an absolute team player and they have thrown him under the bus and stunted his development at every turn. I can’t believe they would really think they could go back to him too. Saleh must be in a total tailspin now.
  24. Great timing! Waits until the eagles get crushed and his price can go up!!
