  1. an “elite run defender” is exactly the same type of nonsense that is applied to Sammy— who was considered elite at “drawing coverage away from other receivers.” Those are just ways to make excuses for lack of actual production. Clowney was the number 1 overall pick in the draft, and the numbers don’t lie. His production as a defensive end is putrid. Elite ends are expected to stop the run— that is just par for the course. But they are paid to sack the QB. Clowney is just a plain bad. And he apparently also has a bad attitude. There is a reason that no one wants to pay him money and no one ever wants to re-sign the guy. The one time a team Re-signed him (Browns), they clearly now have regretted it.
  2. Nah. Clowney is basically the defense version of Sammy Watkins.
  3. The Super Bowl is always played at a perfect weather location or indoor spot. Why not the same for the AFCCG?
  4. i agree. I don’t understand how anyone can speculate as to cause, including the NFL docs. Let’s all hope it is something rare like commotio cordis, as the NFL docs have speculated. But it is driving me a little crazy that people are speculating on various causes and calling things “misinformation” already. I am just hoping it isn’t some undiagnosed heart defect or something that could be recurring.
  5. I don’t know why, but I always have had a soft spot for NP and will root for him this week.
  6. Obviously lost in the shuffle is how much we are going to also miss Damar on the field. The guy was doing an admirable job holding down the fort, for a young guy with very little experience before this year. And he saved us from Jaquan Johnson, who turned out to be pretty awful in coverage. At this point, the options aren’t great. Johnson is a liability in coverage. Marlowe knows the system but has been inactive, so not sure the staff views him as an upgrade over Johnson. I don’t know if they would ever consider moving a corner (like Benford) over to safety at this late juncture in the season, but I hope they are having those discussions.
  7. haha— I am going to have to try this. I bet my kids will love it too.
  8. “Whatever happened to that wot a guy?” ”beats me.” (long pause) ”anyway, so, should we fire Frazier or what?”
  9. Seems like a thinner version of Buffalo chicken dip?
  10. you are preaching to the choir about why these kids shouldn’t transfer. But that seems to be the way of college bball now. I really love Copeland’s potential— but he is good as gone. Also, guys like Carey, Brown, Taylor, and Bell all seem like transfer risks.
  11. I hate to be such a Debbie Downer, but I sometimes question why I am even watching this team. They aren’t good. And I can’t even watch anymore for future player development because all these young guys will probably transfer. 😢
  12. just wait— you aren’t going to see those mysterious calls going for the chiefs this weekend!
  13. ugh. You are right. What is sort of pointless though is to play that game at that point, because the Bills will have locked up homefield and so would rest their starters. You sort of wonder if the bills would forfeit the game, if that is allowed. Sort of would stink for the ravens.
  14. I have a feeling the NFL will wait and see what happens this week. I think if the bills, raiders, and ravens win this weekend, the bills-bengals game is meaningless for every purpose, and they can declare it a forfeit.
  15. I am going to remember what you all said and quote it back to you in the game day threads! 😁
  16. I would be curious more about how the players and coaches feel. This is their family, but also their job. I have no idea what they must be thinking or feeling, especially with how focused they have been all year on the ultimate goal.
  17. Thank you for summarizing this. I couldn’t bare to go onto that horrendous Chiefs World or whatever geocities MySpace website that those chiefs fans use.
  18. Nice article about Damar from Pittsburgh papers: “He’s the role model,” said Kim Spriggs, a family development specialist and preschool teacher for Focus On Renewal. “I’ve worked with a lot of kids from preschool to high school. He’s everyone’s role model. The kids around here adore him.” So much so that Spriggs spent part of Tuesday’s classes having her students make get-well-soon cards for Hamlin, who remained in critical condition after spending the night in the ICU at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Spriggs joked that her kids were updating her on Hamlin’s condition, then recalled how someone last year dressed up as Hamlin for Halloween. Her phone background is a youth football photo of Hamlin. Roberts keeps another from his Little Vikings days, too. “He’s just a genuinely good person,” Spriggs said. “He’s nice to all the kids. He hangs out with them. We’re just used to it at this point.”
  19. Ryan Clark. I think he has sickle cell and playing at high altitude in Denver was super dangerous. Tomlin wouldn’t let him play. It was a pretty huge game too.
  20. 36 pages of the same 3 ideas recycled!! 😃 I am thinking we are going to just have to wait and see!
  21. Doesn’t our game also impact other teams Re them making the playoffs, tie breakers, and seedings? this is going to be pretty tricky.
  22. I just don’t think the NFL would create a new rule and tie-break method to resolve this. I wonder if there is any precedent here.
  23. They can’t do this. I don’t think there is a fair way to figure it out (other than to give the 1 seed to KC, who will have 1 more win).
  24. I felt that he looked out of sorts on that long reception to Hurst on the first drive. a weird mistake we usually don’t see him make— was just sort of lost out there. I don’t know though— maybe unrelated.
