Hey Buddy- Nix these Uniforms!
buffaloaggie replied to Robert Paulson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They weren't talking about the Sabres were they? I wish we'd go to the throwbacks. -
So Cowher is not good enough for you, but an assistant HC and OL coach under Cowher will be a great choice. And, that makes sense??? I'd love to have Grimm as OL Coach, beyond that, haven't we had enough of unproven coordinators as HC? Time to bring in someone that has actually won something.

Baltimore was never an expansion team. Cleveland is an expansion team since 1999. Don't forget the Oilers/Titans were in their division too, until 2001. There is no denying LeBeau is a great DC, but Cowher missing the playoffs 4 out of 7 years without LeBeau had also something to do with erratic play at QB (Kordell Stewart). I doubt, as others pointed out, that at 72, he'd be making a move to another team. Cowher is not a horrid coach and I'd love to see him in Buffalo. Obviously, a coach is only as good as the players and coaches that work for him, but I'd take Cowher over our other possibilities.

Who's likely to take a QB ahead of us?
buffaloaggie replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our franchise QB wouldn't last long without a Left OT to protect him. Didn't our top two QB's get hurt this year? Without a line to protect him, our QB will just be fodder for a D line. When it comes down to it, we need a lot. I really like McClain, but an OT would be OK too. -
Jets???? The Bills beat them! Chargers v. Eagles with the Chargers getting the ring.

Kelly's group would have to petition the NFL to get approval to buy the team. Somehow, I think that has already happened.

Funny, Tech players that were there at practice had this to say: "I have no complaints about this decision. [Leach] put Adam [James] in a shed like an animal. Like an animal in a cage. That was bull," defensive lineman Chris Perry. "You call other players. I think it was a good decision. We have our pep back now. We practice hard this week. We had less stress this week. You know why? Because he's gone." Said cornerback Taylor Charbonnet: "The players make this team, not one coach. As Adam's friend, I didn't like it at all what [Leach] did. He was my brother and I didn't agree with it. I don't know why [Leach] did that. But I know we our fully behind [interim] coach Ruffin [McNeil]. We love him and support him." I guess this is a little bit of the testimony that Tech based their firing of Leach on.

You don't address my main point, why would Texas Tech and Gerald Myers cave to Craig James and open themselves up to a termination without cause lawsuit based on hearsay? Could you be insinuating that ESPN is behind a Leach witch hunt since it seems that ESPN is the only player in this scenario that carries that much weight? This whole thing honestly doesn't make sense if it is only the James clan against Leach and TTU if they are taking Craig and Adam James' word only. There has to be corroborating evidence that TTU is not revealing that is pretty solid. Absolutely, it will eventually play out in court. IMO, it just shows that Leach was sick of dealing with a spoiled brat. Rather than have him sent to a trainer or doctor to see how to best handle this, he had to try to embarrass the kid. It is not a question of a spoiled kid's actions, it is a question of a stupid move on Leach's part without involving his medical staff. Personally if I had been Leach, I would have told James to go home if Leach thought he was faking or overstating his condition. The question that will be asked to Leach in court will be did you consult a medical staffer before doing this? The correct answer is no, and he was trying to embarrass James. Will he say that? Obviously, no. This could have probably been handled with an apology, but Leach's ego prevented him from taking the high road, and it cost him his job.
-
Has anyone on this board considered that Tech would not open themselves up to a lawsuit unless they had solid facts? Leach's lawyer seems to be scrambling to spin this in the media. I can hardly believe that Craig James wields such clout that just because he is behind this, he has the power to oust Leach based on hearsay. If Myers and Leach were so tight, do you honestly think he would dismiss Leach without good cause? Would the TT President cave to Craig James? Get real. No one on this board has any reliable information other than what is written and discussed on various websites. It is pretty much second hand information, possibly unreliable information that can be spun whichever way. I for one will let it play out, but it does not bode well for Leach.

The Compelling Case for Mike Leach as Head Coach
buffaloaggie replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In retrospect, starting this thread looks real good. -
I hope when Leach put him in the closet, Leach made sure he had plenty of water in his bowl too.

Name Three Owners Worse Than Old Ralph
buffaloaggie replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And that's why the Bills are in their current state. You have the best GM/talent evaluator in the league, yet Ralph listens to his late daughter who wanted to draft Big Ten players because she went to Ohio State. Ralph Wilson hired Bill Polian to do a job, and when a family that does not know how to evaluate NFL talent meddles in that task, you wind up with this sorry Bills organization. Ralph has a responsibility to the organization, and that includes making sure his daughter didn't overstep her bounds. An NFL team should be run as a business and not a family affair. As I remember, it was a choice between Ryan Leaf and Manning. Polian made a good choice, right? Polian has drafted Edgerrin James over Ricky Williams, drafted Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Bob Sanders, pulled Jeff Saturday and Gary Brackett out of undrafted free agency and almost forgot, drafted a guy named Dwight Freeney in the same draft that our braintrust took Mike Williams (even over Bryant McKinnie). Gotta love nepotism!!! -
To be clear, Dungy and Cowher are acceptable
buffaloaggie replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meyer will be in Gainesville. He has cysts on his brain, and needs the time off. He will return to UF when he's ready. Dungy will not coach in the NFL next year. Whenver he decides and wherever he goes, Vick will follow. Cowher and Gruden do not want the Buffalo job. Shanahan used us to get better offers. Buffalo will be a popular bargaining chip in the coaching realm this offseason. Weis, Fassel, Haslett, Martz, Green, Crennell, Grimm...there's your short list. I'm more interested in who's on the list for GM. -
Sorry, I'm used to the posts about Leach from the Senator. I haven't seen any posts from the Sen, so I figure he had to fly out to Lubbock to console his idol. Give him a hug for us, Senator.
-
They tried to have an inexperienced Alex Smith run it. Smith just wasn't ready. It'd be a good coaching staff on paper, but we need some guys in the front office that can evaluate talent. Until we get a talent guru, we'll keep putting a QB behind a terrible line and drafting Chris Ellis types late and Aaron Maybin instead of Michael Oher.
-
A 3rd would be too high, IMO. I don't think there'd be a huge market for Smith. I'd throw a fifth at the Ravens. It is a high 5th round pick after all.
-
Exactly. John Murphy, Mark Kelso and Chris Brown (buffalobills.com guy) were just here in Atlanta for a Q&A session, and they were adamant that Vick is not the QB that he was years ago, and he never was a good passer. They said the Bills would not be pursuing him. Next year's free agent QB list: Kyle Orton Chad Pennington Jason Campbell Tarvaris Jackson Kellen Clemens Charlie Batch Kyle Boller David Carr Brodie Croyle Daunte Culpepper Rex Grossman Joey Harrington Jon Kitna Matt Moore – Restricted FA Chris Redman Brett Ratliff – Exclusive Rights FA Troy Smith – Restricted FA
-
Ummm, that would be Matt Schaub. David Carr failed in Houston and is now Eli's backup.

From various posts this year: A) Ryan Fitzpatrick is the answer B) Gibran Hamdan is the answer C) Brian Brohm is the answer D) Mike Leach and Graham Harrell are the answer E) None of the above I go with E The spread offense is a timing offense, typically shut down by a quick defense (See the 2006 Cotton Bowl). The Wildcat is not the spread. The spread will not work against the quicker, faster, bigger players in the NFL. Why do you folks think that Leach's gimmick offense would work in the NFL? How many Texas Tech QB's are in the NFL?
-
Bruce Campbell Left OT from Maryland should be the pick. We'd be making a huge mistake if we don't strengthen our OL.

Mike Leach suspended from Alamo Bowl
buffaloaggie replied to buffaloaggie's topic in College Football
For Tech to suspend him indefinitely, it must be something pretty serious. On the Independence Bowl broadcast, the announcers eluded to him not being back next year. Now they're saying that Leach confined the player to a dark room and an electrical closet after a concussion diagnosis. It's Craig James' son, so ESPN will be all over it. If true, it just confirms what I've thought all along, Mike Leach has no class. What a douche. -
Any fellow Irish fans out there?
buffaloaggie replied to Jay4481's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Weis would be a great choice as O.C., but obviously, the jury's still out as a Head Coach. The ND gig was a failure, for whatever reason. He seemed to get good recruiting classes, but just couldn't put anything together. He wouldn't have Tom Brady here in Buffalo, so things may not be as easy for him here as ot was with the Patsies. Unless he could teach Trent Edwards when and when not to check down, I think he'd struggle here. Is Weis considered a good talent evaluator? We need a front office before any coach can have success.
