  1. It's more than that. We have a FEW workable pieces, but there is a long way to go, as the season has shown. Others have addressed our needs: 1) Pass rusher (DE/OLB) 2) LB 3) OL starting talent 4) We can't pass up on a possible franchise QB...the thread will soon come where we start naming possible franchise QBs in the upcoming draft...I vote RG3 When we pick up these pieces in the draft, I don't know, but our front office is not too good at getting help from the free agent pool, so we build through the draft and find a hidden gem among the UDFAs, as usual
  2. Because that's the Bills M.O.. Remember the timing of the Dick Jauron extension?
  3. The Bills seem to have players that can play multiple positions. Why stick with a 3-4 or 4-3? I like the flexibility of switching between them, but without a NT, the 4-3 is the way to mostly go (and our lack of LBs). We need help with the pass rush obviously, but I like our interior. I agree that Wannstadt should be D.C.
  4. RG3 is not only a great athlete, he's also a smart kid. Don't underestimate this guy. He graduated early from Baylor and is enrolled in graduate school. I have watched him play a lot, and he is the real deal. He is mobile, and can make do with a suspect O-line. I would take this guy with our first round pick and hope there's a decent pass rusher to be drafted in the second round. The Bills are headed for 5-11, so they may be flirting with a top 5 pick. Here is a feature on Griffin. Meet RG3
  5. If it gets players and fans fired up, it's all good. Anything for the crowd to drown out the effect of Rex Ryan's big mouth.
  6. Surprised you didn't kill yourself after the Sabres started 3-9-2 last year. Damn dude, lighten up. The Bills barely lost their two games, two three point losses.
  7. 1st pick - Courtney Upshaw OLB Alabama
  8. Bills at Jets would be the most likely flex game on 11/27, but they'd replace Pitt at KC. To appease Steelers fans, they should move Pitt and Cincy to replace the Colts and Patriots on 12/4. Manning's injury did kill prime time this season. Have to say, Polian has had what, 13 or so years to find a suitable backup. Kinda dropped the ball there Bill. Your lustre as a top GM has taken a beating this year.
  9. The play calling is fine to me also. Chan was not conservative at the end of the game, and the Bills paid with the INT. Fitz is under-throwing a few more of passes lately. That worries me more than the play calling.
  10. Keeping guys who are hungry and want to prove themselves. Buddy Nix was dead-on with his veteran purge plan in his interview with WGR. Bills fans only complaint now is we may have been able to get higher picks for the vets that were jettisoned and we're happy in being wrong. Otherwise, Nix is well on his way to earning Executive of the Year, and Chan Gailey will have to battle it out with Jim Schwartz for coach of the year. Getting rid of Edwards and starting Fitz was the biggest move, but hiring Nix was the catalyst.
  11. If the Packers had a body of water loaded with algae on the helmet, it would represent "Green Bay".
  12. Doubtful you'll see a repeat of the orange mass exodus. This ain't Stony Brook that UB is playing. Sad to see UB football returning to its pre Turner Gill state. Still, UB should cover the 28 1/2 point spread.
  13. I heard the radio ads about it when I was up there this past weekend with Nelson talking about his dad.
  14. You knew she'd portray herself as a victim, and "passionate" Bills fans can be counted on the give her the ammo. She is a hack with an axe to grind and anyone with half a brain can tell that. All we can think about when writing any response is "You stay classy San Diego, er...Bills fans"
  15. I doubt Brad Smith would get close to 1580 with the current three sections. I think being a Harvard grad in itself without knowing his Wonderlic and SAT scores tells you our QB is a smart mofo. They need to have a week of NFL Jeopardy.
  16. The Colts situation reminds of the San Antonio Spurs years ago, when David Robinson missed an entire season and the Spurs were able to draft Tim Duncan. Granted, the Spurs lucked out by winning the NBA draft lottery, but the Spurs definitely benefited from a poor season thanks to an injury to their star. Luck would be more than happy to come out after his junior season for a chance to be Peyton Manning's understudy for a year or two.
  17. Our secondary was awesome. Top four tacklers, and an average of 2.9 yards per pass attempt. The jury may still be out on our run defense. 6 yards per carry. The top two are a result of a team needing to pass to catch up. Offense was efficient. Understatement of the year! Fred Jackson is a warrior. I remember one first down he got totally on his own, carrying a couple of defenders with him. It's nice to have a reliable Tight End. Really opens up our red zone offense. A funny side note...Rian Lindell out tackled Kyle Williams. Still, Lindell wasn't occupying multiple blockers.
  18. It wasn't even Stevie Johnson's hit that put Berry out. Berry came back in after that hit and was then rolled by Levitre at the end of a play (not dirty) and that was the hit that put him out. It was on a Spiller run.
  19. I watched a Bills game Packy's when I was in SFla for a HS reunion. It just North of the Ft Lauderdale airport. Good group of Bills fans there. Packy's South Fla Billsbackers
  20. St. Louis went from last place to SB Champs in 1999. The NFC South was known for the last place team finishing first quite a few years in a row. It SHOULD NOT take that long. Good coaching is needed also. Bills don't seem to have that. I would call the Falcons o-line coach a miracle worker. He took two UDFAs and made them stars (Clabo and Dahl). Still, they have Blaylock (a #2) and Baker (a #2) as anchors. Every O-line has an anchor or multiple anchors, and you can plug in a Jonathan Scott and still keep rolling as a unit. When you have five Jonathan Scott's on the o-line, you're in trouble. He wasn't even a UDFA. He has bounced around though. No doubt having a good QB makes a huge difference. Big Ben had the advantage of being on an established team, behind an established line, as did Marino. When Matt Ryan was drafted, the Falcons also made sure to get his left tackle in that draft also with their next pick.
  21. Absolutely. I loved that we addressed our defense in this year's draft. I would have dreaded getting Cam Newton and watching another year of our defense getting shredded by the run. In our "whatever"-year plan, this draft was a big step. I know we need to address our O-line and Young can't hurt. I'm just not delusional in thinking, nor do I have expectations that he's going to be another Jason Peters. If I were an NFL GM, I would be always restocking my offensive and defensive lines as much as possible in the draft and build around that, addressing positional needs now and then through free agency and a draft pick. A good defensive line getting pressure on a QB makes a DBs life easier, and a good O-line opening holes and providing good pass protection makes a RB and QBs life easier. Seems simple enough.
  22. It is pretty obvious that the Bills are looking for a diamond in the rough. Do they honestly believe that a Jason Peters will show up in every other UDFA group? Once the Bills start spending high draft picks on O-linemen instead of running backs, which are much easier to find in UDFAs (Arian Foster, LaGarrette Blount as of late, Fred Jackson way before them), they will start building a team. Drafting scat backs and defensive backs with 1st round picks will never build a good foundation. Spiller was a mistake, Dareus was an excellent pick. We will get a QB this year, whether it's Luck, Barkley or Landry Jones. After that, the Bills should draft nothing but OL, maybe a TE, and quit depending on finding a diamond in the rough. It should not take 4 years to build a team, it takes a good front office.
  23. The Bills FO sat on their a$$e$ while Gaither, McKinnie and Gurode signed. I'm thinking you're a little late with your question. Marc Colombo sat out there a while too after being released by the Cowboys. Right now, I'd say there aren't any. That is why people bash, and rightfully so. By the way, Hangartner was snapped up pretty quickly.
  24. He was rated equal to or below Kyle Callaway in last year's draft. Not expecting much.
