In his MOCK 2.0, Kiper still has the Bills taking Upshaw Coples to Jax at #7, Ingram and Martin go #12 and #13 respectively. He has only RG3 and Luck going in the first round at QB. Top ten is the same except for Brockers DT LSU replacing Dre Kirkpatrick. Not surprisingly, he has the Bengals at 17 taking the drug busted Kirkpatrick.

Buffalo Bills: Defensive end The flirtation with the 3-4 defense for Buffalo lasted barely a year, just long enough to get defensive coordinator George Edwards fired, and now the team will turn to new hire Dave Wannstadt to undo the experiment and bring back a base 4-3. The move makes perfect sense, as it allows the Bills to line up their two best players, Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus, side-by-side. That should give them the freedom to penetrate and make plays rather than requiring them to hold their ground and soak up blockers as they would in a 3-4. It's a move that should help stiffen up the interior run defense, which gave up 4.52 yards per carry on runs between the guards last year. It probably won't do much to generate more pass rush, however, as it's unreasonable to ask for Dareus to improve much upon his rookie total of 5.5 sacks. An elite pass-rushing defensive end would be a key addition for Buffalo. The Bills have youngsters like Alex Carrington and veterans such as Chris Kelsay and Dwan Edwards, but none of them can be expected to suddenly morph into a double-digit sack threat. There is little doubt that the team will make every effort to address the position, but it is unlikely to land a premiere talent like Mario Williams in free agency, so improvement may have to come from the draft. The other major priority is to re-sign Steve Johnson, who established himself as a legitimate No. 1 receiver in his first year as a starter. The team will want to add another receiver regardless, as neither David Nelson nor Donald Jones showed much playmaking ability, but receiver would turn into a gaping hole should Johnson decide to skip town.

Flynn won a national championship with the loaded LSU team that #1 flop Jamarcus Russell could not win the big game with. I can see the RJ comparison, one game wonder and all, but I think Flynn has the leadership skills that RJ did not. Sherman is nothing. A good guy, a class guy, but hardly an offensive genius. And he has problems staying awake Sherman at the NFL combine

Check your math against the box scores. Your assessments of A&M crack me up and show you really have no clue about A&M's season. Cyrus Gray got hurt against Kansas, the 2nd to last regular season game. Fuller was healthy the last two games when only one running back was available, not just Ryan Swope as a WR. Fuller was the main target in both of the final games and the leading WR, including a clutch grab to run out the clock on A&M's last FG drive in the bowl game. Ben Molina served as the only running back in the final two games. Tannehill forced terrible passes against Texas, and against Northwestern, with the game well in hand at the beginning of the 4th, Tannehill threw an ill-advised pass for an interception that gave Northwestern life. Tannehill turnovers single-handedly blew the Oklahoma State and Missouri games earlier in the year, as well as the Texas game. A&M had big leads against Arkansas, OK State, Mizzou and Texas, and Tannehill disappeared in the 4th quarter against Kansas State after playing well. Yes, the defensive play did not help AFTER the turnovers, but without them, A&M's opponents would never have been in many or any of those games. Tannehill effectively turned a 12-1 season into a 7-6 season. Hardly the resume of a top ten pick. He does have Blaine Gabbert written all over him. Oh, BTW, Tannehill now has a broken foot. He should be a 2nd rounder at best. Can we end this thread once and for all? Jerrod Johnson was more prone to turnovers than Tannehill. Johnson's passes would wobble worse than many of Tebow's passes. To put it plain and simple though, Johnson played 2 1/2 to 3 years, while Tannehill played a year and a half. That would explain the better numbers.

Fitz Has Possibly Had A Broken Rib Since Toronto?
buffaloaggie replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any time it involves possible public knowledge, it's a big deal. NO doctor would reveal patient information, even to a friend...unless he wants to incur a heavy fine, possible suspension, etc... This whole thread is based on B.S. HIPAA is a pretty big deal in the medical community -
Almost all the scouting reports say Moore has a weak arm. He'd get eaten up by the winds. If Foles is all that, get him. I do like what I've read about Coleman though, and he may be a later draft pick to speculate on.

Pats fans not buying SB tickets
buffaloaggie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember a great playoff comeback that many Bills fans couldn't watch on TV due to no sellout. I think we were playing with a backup QB and had just gotten whipped the week before in their house. Could it be the fear of losing that keeps the Pats fans away? -
True, he would be a step up from Brad Smith. But not worth a first rounder. Tannehill led the team in receptions, but he was not their #1 receiver. That was Jeff Fuller, who had injury issues at A&M. If not for those injuries, he'd be talked about as a first round pick. He might be someone to look at in round 2 or 3.
-
No running game? They had one, and should have had two 1000 yard runners (Gray and Michael), if it hadn't been for injuries. Tannehill benefitted from a very balanced attack. In A&M's game against Texas and the bowl game against Northwestern, they had to go with their 3rd string RB exclusively, because another RB dropped from the team. Tannehill actually regressed from the previous season. He played almost flawlessly in 2010, up until he faced LSU in the Cotton Bowl, when he threw 3 or 4 INTs. This year he had three games with three INTs. and the Bills would only compound that mistake by using their #1 on Tannehill, who would mirror Fitz's play.

Tannehill is a smart kid, but he is prone to making terrible decisions on the field. He threw a lot of key and dumb interceptions this year. Yes, he put up big numbers in the Big 12, but honestly, all QBs put up big numbers in the Big 12. This guy is not a top 10 prospect, let alone a first round prospect. Let another team reach for Tannehill, one that doesn't have as many holes to fill. There are plenty of project QBs in this draft. Let's not waste our first pick speculating on a guy that finished 7-6 on a greatly underachieving team, much of its failure falling on Tannehill's shoulders. Believe me, no one (maybe one other A&M grad) on this board watched more of his games than I did.

Top 10 QB's In 2012 Draft - Not in Order !!
buffaloaggie replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keenum would be a great pick in rounds 4 or 5. I think he's better than Kevin Kolb, when he was coming out of U of H. We definitely should not waste a pick in Rounds 1-3 speculating on a QBs potential. As far as sleepers go in late rounds, Austin Davis from Southern Miss could have some potential. 4 year starter. He had some great games early, but seemed to fade as his senior season went on. Still, decent stats this season. 6'2" 221 COMP PCT 60.2 Pass Yards 3496 Career 10898 Rush Yards 352 TD-INT 30/11 Career 83/27 Considering Nix was a coach at UT-Chattanooga, he'd be someone the Bills might want. -
Top 10 QB's In 2012 Draft - Not in Order !!

Who? The debate was about Von Miller being a top ten pick last year, and he did pretty well this year as the #2 pick. Upshaw accomplished a great deal in college. He has proven himself against the best competition. Yes, we can go OT if one is there and come back to get a DE in the 2nd round. You can debate that. The Bills have many holes to fill, but Upshaw will be a huge asset on D for the team that gets him.
-
You're describing Hightower more so than Upshaw. Upshaw is the playmaker of the Alabama LB corps. Hightower, especially against Georgia Southern, took off plays and was a step slower than an FCS option team. Obviously, pros will be bigger and faster than a college option team. Upshaw has been more consistent in each Bama game that I watched this year. As far as his pass defending, that is an unknown because he did not drop into pass coverage much. I do remember him having an INT return for a TD against Florida this year. As far as questioning his ability to get sacks and hurry the QB, you're way off base. Led the team in sacks, led the team in tackles for loss, BCS Championship Defensive MVP. That says a lot. Alabama plays a similar style "hybrid" defense that the Bills are going for. As others have said, Upshaw is versatile enough to fill the Bills OLB role effectively.

Thinking Ingram from South Carolina would be the choice then

^^This says it all You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't see Weeden as a polished passer. You have to factor the threat of Newton running and that's what has helped his NFL development. Weeden played in a spread offense and had the best WR in the country hands down, but he can't run. To mention Weeden, along with Luck only, as NFL ready boggles the mind. He's Chris Weinke all over, a 28 or 29 year old NFL rookie. Griffin has the tools. He does not have the classic delivery, but you probably also would have dismissed Philip Rivers on his delivery too. It is not elongated, which is what doomed Leftwich. The guy I am most anxious to see how he does in the NFL is Kellen Moore. Could be decent, could be Danny Wuerffel II, though that comparison is harsh. Wuerffel's arm was way weak.
-
RGII was the "source" that said RG3 was going pro. I'd bet he's going, but it is not official...yet RGIII is a better passer than Newton. Two different athletes. Newton is bigger and stronger, Griffin is faster. Arm strength is debateable, probably Newton's is stronger. Newton's confidence allowed him to adjust to the NFL quicker than many thought. Griffin is a smart kid, but the transition to the NFL is obviously not always a smooth one for top rated college QBs.

This is right on the money with both points. FA CBs have been one of the most expensive positions as of late. Greer got about $22mil over 4 years. Asomugha, Clements, Winfield, Revis have all received huge contracts. Do you pay for a bunch of expensive corners, when your defensive line can't get pressure? I think I'd rather have the better pass rushers, and that will in turn make your secondary look better because the QB will not have as much time to get rid of the ball. Let a CB walk, get your DL in order and build from there. Still, this year, the Bills need to address a pass rushing LB (that also has decent size). I hope I hear when the Bills first pick is announced, "Courtney Upshaw, Linebacker, University of Alabama."
-
Upshaw would be a great choice in the 1st. Another guy to watch is Keenan Robinson from Texas. Not a big pass rusher, but playing weakside or middle, he would make a huge impact. He was in the backfield making big plays against my Aggies all of last night. Hated him last night, but he'll be a good pro IMO. He really stood out to me. Projected round 3-4. Emmanual Acho was getting run over by a 5-8 RB...not a good prospect.
