Get Travis Henry--today!
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The same kind of logic that I saw a few years ago as people jumped on to the McGahee bandwagon and said we didn't need Henry. And the same kind of logic that was the basis for the arrogance shown by Donaho himself. The Titans were his second team --and the Bills--DONAHO--was the other guy to dump him. Get real--he has played for a long time in this league and has only been on two teams. -
DonaHo made a mistake. We all know that. He kept an unproven player and got rid of maybe our best player at the time, our most productive player, just to prove what a great move he made by taking a risk on McGahee. Wrong again. But Travis Henry was just released by the Titans! He plays hard all of the time, can get the tough yards, is a touchdown machine, and can still break the long run: In 14 games this year he had 1211 yards, at 4.5 yards a run, and 7 touchdowns. And he is available today! What a great week this will be for the Bills if Marv makes this move--with a vastly improved offensive line and running game before the draft. Then the defense will clearly be the focus in the draft. An excellent running back added to this team now? This will be a great team this year. Henry will be highly motivated to come on home--a place he should have never been forced to leave. With Henry on board this past year the Bills would have been in the playoffs. Pull the trigger, Marv.

What is Thurman Thomas doing?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think everyone can appreciate your honesty, bluffodan. -
If Willis McGahee has a good year the Bills should have one of the best offenses in the NFL in 2007. They should hire Thurman as an offensive assisstant and have him work with McGahee. Marv wants him to get that burst that the great backs have, and Thurman can help McGahee get it. Thurman Thomas's leadership will also be good for this team, as he can foster in them the same committment to quality that he had and that this young team showed themselves to have this season.

Lori, you left off the last part of my message, my fundamental point: Games are a place to be energetic and enthusiastic--not complacent and immobile. Our homefield advantage won't come back unless the seat potatoes get up off their kiesters and start making some noise. The atmosphere at games has declined, is less energetic now and less noisy when the other team is on offense and at other important times in the game. Now, it is often as if people are sitting in their living rooms watching a distant event--rather than a live sporting event , and one in which their beloved team is playing, occurring right in front of their eyes. The team feeds off the energy. "Pandemonium" was never created by people sitting in their seats--and you know it.

Yeah, very true--it is like the Bills fans are at home watching television. This negative change in fan behvior coincides with the jumbotron. Now, people don't have to see every play on the field--they'll catch it on the giant tv. Fans have the right to stand. Games are a place to be energetic and enthusiastic--not complacent and immobile. Our homefield advantage won't come back unless the seat potatoes get up off their kiesters and start making some noise.

Yeah! Best win, most promising, in a long time. JP Losman has arrived--and he will be our quarterback for a long, long time. He has all of the tools and he will sharpen them with every game. Yes!
-
A bumpy ride? Why would you say that? Because of the Chicago game? This Bills team is a playoff team, have played very well---and will, like any well-coached team, get better, and better, and better... Funny to read these negative comments on this thread about Losman, questioning him. I guarantee you if I checked the old threads, all of those STILL questioning him were the ones bashing him all along--just trying to hold onto their criticism--and ignoring the talent right in front of their eyes. Ridiculous. I wouldn't trade Losman for ANY of the young quarterbacks in this league now.
-
I said it before the season began--Losman is the better quaterback--more accurate, a much better arm, and more intelligent. It is very acceptable to say he is the better quarterback--already. You are probably one of the pre season bashers, or Leinhart fans. Predict the Bills at 4-12 probably, eh? With Losman at the helm, this team will get better and better this year. A great arm, very intelligent, good leader, and very, very determined. He will be considered the best quarteback of those drafted the year he was.

winless teams in the NFL always worry me
Mister Defense replied to Max997's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winless teams worry me less than any other team, as it means that they have not won a game, and therefore, are not a good team. This insightful analysis has not been easy to come by. It has taken me decades to ascertain this fact: no wins==bad team. The Bills secondary will have their hands full with all of those great #1 receivers the Lions have drafted in the last years. Matt Millen is building a powerhouse team, one that will be scaring fans like Max for years to come. -
CW= Conventional Wisdom
-
What is the betting line on the Bills reaching the playoffs? I want in! How about the line on them winning it all? (I want the last laugh!) My main reason for optimism is that Losman is sooooo much better than the national--or local--media are giving him credit for. He will be our quaterback for a decade if he stays healthy. And how nice is it NOT to have an old, worn out loserl like Bledsoe now, who looks oh so good against crap defenses--and ALWAYS falls apart against good one?

Collins chances in Washington
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, Saunders and Gibbs will not choose Campbell oaver Collins--Collins played for Saunders for four years-and is the better quarterback to boot. Can you imagine Saunders telling Collins he is bypassing him for Campbell? Won't happen. -
He will get his chance this year. Brunell is looking old. Collins looks young: "Collins was 13-of-22 for 201 yards and a QB rating of 104.5 in his best showing with his new club. Collins hooked up with Steven Harris, the first-year player out of Arkansas, on a 54-yard completion." He has played in that offense for five years, under Saunders. It is logical. Gibbs will go with him by the third or fourth game of the season and stick with him.

how?

I know it goes against the CW, but I think their offensive line is underrated-a cohesive unit that is well coached, and they have three quality players at WR, RB, and QB. Losman looks good, will be good, better than Big Ben. Their defense is well coached with a good secondary, very good linebackers, and young, hungry, well coached lineman who will get better with each game. Great special teams--best punter in the league. Marv Levy is making all of the right moves, molding a yonger, hungrier, more disciplined and well coached team. 10-6

Come on. After ten years of production and leadership, you discount him for one incident. Pretty high standard, I' d say, and not reasonable
-
Levy wants to keep Moulds because he has a very young offense in every area--line, backfield, wide receivers, and tight ends. Moulds has been an excellent leader on this team and that is needed now. Some seem to discount his leadership because of one negative incident, albeit after 10 years of high quality play and leadership. And he is still very good. But Moulds better take a big pay cut. He would not command half as much in this league as he is now scheduled to make, not at 33 and not with less than 900 yards. Levy needs lineman. Moulds is wanted, but expendable. Moulds staying is best for both sides: his best opportunity to end his career with production and dignity and the Bills best option for a second receiver, when his leadership is factored in. Levy knows what he wants and is converting the Bills into a cleaner, younger, better team. Good; just what this team needed.
-
But the flaw in all of the Mcgahee 'supporters' '' logic is still obvious: They want to replace what has has been an outstanding player on this team, our BEST player during the last two years, with a player who has had ONE hundred yard game (against a team that had given up multiple one hundred yard games already this year). Henry, if you recall, had a slow start last year as well--and then was GREAT, dominant. It is the Rob Johnson logic--basing your conclusions on virtually nothing but smoke and mirrors. McGahee has proven NOTHING. Henry has been one of the best backs in the league for the last two years. Period. Does this mean that I don't believe that McGahee can't become a great back? No, of course not. But he has not even proven himself to be an NFL starter yet. Rob Johnson logic: and the reason this team fell out of contention. No way should we accept this again.

How does Willis for Peerless look now?
Mister Defense replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was one of his worst moves, shows the same kind of decision making that got him fired in Pittsgurgh and will get him fired here, probably at the end of the season. He got rid one of our best players, in reality the second best player on our team at the time. Traded him away. Our team was a shell itself in large part because of that stupid move. Price was worth the money. And you say it is a good move because............? Of Travis McGahee???? Shocking. The Rob Johnson logic. (Hey, maybe we should extend his contract and offer him huge bonus, too? Let's keep it going, let's dig another hole this team will take years to climb out of.) (And I think McGahee can become an excellent back--but we have NOTHING to back up that contention yet...) -
Here, look just as impressive small and black: 2002: 325 rushes, 1438 yards, 4.4 ypc, and 13 touchdowns 2003: 15 games, 331 carries 1356 yards, 4.1 ypc, and 10 touchdowns But this deserves to be shouted form the rooftop, so: People want to trade our most valuable player!!!!! And replace him with a completely unproven player!!!!!!!!!! Can you say, 2-14, 1-15? That logic will get us there only. (And MDH, aint nothing in your post to back yourself up--except an immature attack. I'd rather have logic and support in finger paints than none at all. None.)
-
For KD and FREZ Henry's stats the last two years: 2002: 325 rushes, 1438 yards, 4.4 ypc, and 13 touchdowns 2003: 15 games, 331 carries 1356 yards, 4.1 ypc, and 10 touchdowns Yes, one of the best in the league and statistically too. GROSSLY ILLOGICAL for people to say Henry should be traded, that McGahee should be start, and that McGahee is the better back: Henry has had almost 2800 yards in the last two years and 23 touchdowns. Not illogical to say he is one of the top five backs in the league. I think he'll be an MVP in this league. More than illogical, irresponsible suggestions really: (I hope none of those calling for such illogical moves runs a business!!!)
-
Just reading over some of these threads, I was wondering if the majority of people on here really believe that it is a good move to hand over the starting job to McGahee, and that Henry should be on his way out? Surely, MOST people on this board cannot be that illogical. Please, give me some faith in BILLS FANS! Travis Henry has been an extraordainry NFL back the last two years, our best player during that period, and is one of the top five backs in this league. And people think we should replace him with a player who has proven....what??? Absolutely nothing and is coming off a HUGE injury. If it's true, that most people on this board believe this, what illogical people! Probably the same people who thought it was a good idea to hand Rob Johnson Millions (and the Jaguars our pick(s)) because of his two good starts. ( I said at the time it was the most illogical move in the history of this franchise. This move is right up there.) In any case, this is the same misguided, illlogical reasoning that allowed that move, which in my mind, was the beginning of a major decline. PLEASE, say it aint so! Please say that only a tiny minority are this uninformed..................................................
