UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Mister Defense replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way; Celtic makes a great point. Tebow is changing his mechanics because he has to to be a successful NFL quarterback. Because he is just doing this now, we don't know how he will progress in his mechanics. Taking Tebow in round 4 or below would be a mistake, demonstrating similar logic as drafting McGahee in the first. -
Yes, well said, as the Bills cannot afford to not give Edwards a chance, with statistics like the ones you point to a good indication that Bills fans have jumped the gun, as did Jauron last season. The Bills need better offensive and defensive lines. Both will make a difference in the development of Edwards next year. He is accurate, he is intelligent, and he has early career statistics that are similar to some of the best quarterbacks in the league. We don't know yet if he can be a consistently good starting quarterback, but the Bills need to strengthen everything around him, from lineman to coaches--and that will happen this offseason. The Bills needs to rebuild from the lines and up this offseason. Or, they will just keep spinning their wheels, with lines that cannot hold their own, as everything around weak lines crumbles. We have been too focused on our quarterback situation for much too long; time to focus on strengthening what is around him.

Can we finally call Matt Leinart a bust?
Mister Defense replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good luck, Arizona! They went from the 2nd most accurate quarterback in the history of the NFL, to one of the least accurate. If Anderson starts, next season is going to be difficult for Cardinal fans to watch. A good coach there, so maybe he sees something others don't. -
Kyle Williams should be traded
Mister Defense replied to evilcape's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I would definitely do that--basically, the Colts are giving us their #1 draft choice for Kyle Williams. Bill Polian would do this? Only if his brain has fallen out of his head. Another "let's get rid of one our best players" thread. Bye Lynch, so long Williams, adios Whitner, see ya Peters... We don't need these guys? -
What happened with the eye gouging, why no fine? It sure looked intentionall--how can that be unintentional?-- not a retorical question
-
Yikes. I am surprised I have never seen that before. Seems like it would have gotten more press. How long was Davis suspended for? Yeah, looks like the kind of high character guy that made the Bills a great team at one time.

Darn it... All the great quarterbacks are being swept away... What a great quarterback he has been of late... Now that Delhomme is gone.... Vick, Thigben, Garcia, Bulger, Quinn, Troy Smith (and the others suggested)--hopefully the Bill are wise enough to sign one of these winners.... Hope the Bills management only checks this board to determine what NOT to ever do. Can you say 1-15? I hope that the people that suggest these bums are only kidding--is that true?--tongue in cheek? WHY WOULD PEOPLE SUGGEST WE GO AFTER QUARTERBACKS THAT LOOK MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT WE HAVE????

Unless this yahoo's kidding, what a moron, huh?

LaVar Arrington speaks on Whitner, Campbell trade
Mister Defense replied to billsevans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone with some sense! Great! NO WAY should the Bills trade a pick for this pathetic loooking player, as they shouldn't even pursue him ONCE THE SKINS CUT HIM, which may be inevitable this off season. -
You got it. HE SUCKS, EVERY TIME I SEE HIM PLAY, SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS! THIS TEAM WOULD SUCK IF HE WAS THE QUARTERBACK, AND NOT 7-9, BUT big time, back to BIG SUCK TIMES OF 2-14. Stop the insanity: Campbell, Thigben, Garcia, Culpepper, Plummer... ALL SUCK!! I am not saying he is the man here, but Trent Edwards is better than all of these 'quarterbacks', worth more. At least Edwards has some intelligence and some upside.
-
My post from the "Let's get Culpepper" thread. Ditto: Just add Campbell to the list. He is inconsistent, throws the ball 5-7 yards a shot in his 'good games' and will, in my estimation, never be a starting quarterback again. Zorn was another dumb coach in Washington, going down with the ship, as he played one of the league's all time worst long term starting quarterbacks. And all the while the Redskins have had a quarteback on their roster who actually could have lead them to the promised land, with the opposite qualities of a bum player like Campbell--Todd Collins.
-
If the Bills would like to get really bad, return to the 2-14 seasons of the 80s, then they should just follow the adivce of some on this board, as in this example. I cannot remember the last time that Culpepper had a good game, let alone looked anything like a starting NFL quarterback. The kind of move the Bills did in the mid 80s, pre-Polian. NO Vick, Culpepper, McNabb, Garcia... NO WAY!

CBS Coverage of the Super Bowl
Mister Defense replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked Simms and Nantz, and the laid back feeling of the actual game presentation. I don't like the Fox broadcasts of events like this, as they go so over the top in visuals and sound, that they get in the way of the game for me. CBS's broadcast seemed like it was focused on a normal game, but a big one. I liked it, not a lot of hype during the actual game. -
Bills offer assistant GM to Doug Whaley
Mister Defense replied to shaker4187's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, I know almost nothing about this guy, but he has been very involved in getting good players to Pittsburgh, a team that has won two Super Bowls in the last 5 years. An extremely well run team, like the Bills were once. So, a good move. -
Yes, the Polian loss was huge. The 2nd biggest mistake I have seen in my liftetime was getting rid of Todd Collins, who in my view, would have been a pro bowl quarterback with a decent team. And he would still be starting for us. We gave away the house to get his replacement, Rob Johnson, and then, watched as we have had one quarterback after another, unable to even win a playoff game. And head coach after head coach. It was the most de-stabilizing move I have ever seen this franchise make in terms of a player.

Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No!! It can't be!!! Such a high character, law-abiding citizen like Michael Vick taking steroids, which are illegal!!! It just floored me to see this topic on Two BILLS Drive. Wow!! My hope for humanity, trashed now...

Anyone else EMBARRASSED by the new GM?
Mister Defense replied to Thurman8125's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why the heck is knowledge of the number of coaches the Bills have had relevant???????????????????????????????? Maybe the stupidest thing I have ever read in this forumn. Think Marv Levy knew how many Bills' coaches there were before him when hired as a coach? Or, for that matter, almost any general manager in the league when hired?? Bill Polian? ('Hmm, let's see, before I take this job, I need to find out how many head coaches have worked here...') I am not overly impressed by Nix at this point, but am willing to give him the benefit of doubt for a while. But unless I am reading this post wrong, ridiculously stupid and completely irrelevant. Like the dumb little girl I went to middle school with, Patty, who used to come up to me all of the time to ask me to spell Misssissippi. When I just looked at her she would always spell it, as if it was relevant to her intelligence. Pretty much all she knew. -
It should be. At first I was feeling discouraged that possible head coaches won't even interview, men with no head coaching experience in the NFL. How often has that even happened in the league's history?? But while I won't rest easy until a good head coach is hired, I think this could be a good thing for the Bills, a turning point. If these rejections don't motivate Ralph Wilson to do everything he can now to make this a respectable franchise again, nothing will. I think it will, just as the 2-14 seasons did in the 8o's.

Lynch is a top 5 back in the NFL
Mister Defense replied to Trent is Unstoppable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on now! I hated when they got rid of Henry, and when they drafted willis, the prelude, thought it was a huge mistake on both counts. Henry, in my view, was the best player on the team. BUT, Henry really was the moron that people were saying he was. He will be in jail for a long time, won't he? So, I revised my opinion, as Henry turned out to be the mess-of-a- man the naysayers thought he was. -
Leslie Frazer "blew away" Nix in interview.
Mister Defense replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, what a great head coach Marvin Lewis has been. His teams have always underachieved. -
But they do not know what they have in Brohm, not in game situations, though he showed some promise last week. When a qarterback has 'it', it sometimes reveals itself early in his career, as was the case with quartebacks such as Marino and Brady. The Bills don't know enough about Brohm. While one more game probably will not tell us too much, it MAY. That is enough of a reason to start the guy, rather than someone we agree will be a career backup. I do believe the Bills stand a better chance of winning with Fitzpatrick, but that really isn't the point today. Brohm did loook good enough last week to lead this team to a victory against backups today. It seems Wilson has stepped in too much the last decade and made coaches' decisions, but this is a time when he needed to say something, have his interim coach play the game for the Bills' future--and not as an audition for a head coaching position.

Will Josh Reed's career mirror Andre's?
Mister Defense replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Andre Reed equals Josh Reed? Their careers have been parallel!? While I like Josh Reed, consider him to be one of the many players used incorrectly the last five years, it is shocking that someone would compare the two the way you do: ANDRE: 951 receptions for 13,198 yards and 87 touchdowns 16 years in the NFL JOSH: 311 receptions 3,575 yards and 10 touchdowns 8 years in the NFL Andre Reed will be in the Hall of Fame, was the career leader in receptions at one point, and was a major reason the Bills were in four Super Bowls. He didn't garner much interest in free agency because he was old for a receiver, having played his kiester off for FIFTEEN years with the Bills. What a ridiculous post. -
Coaches that fit the Nix profile
Mister Defense replied to cale's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Herm Edwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you still drunk from last night?? One of the worst coaches I have witnessed in my life, his teams some of the least prepared for games that I have ever seen. NO!! -
Is the game a sellout and on television??
