Cody Ford takes 1st reps at RG
Mister Defense replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ford did not look like an NFL tackle in the limited video I watched of him after the draft--too slow, lacking the athleticism a tackle needs. Makes more sense at guard. The more experienced Nsekhe will start at right tackle. It also means that the Bills are back in the market for a right tackle, maybe even before this season. Probable starting Offensive line: LT- Dawkins LG- Spain C- Morse RG- Ford RT- Nsekhe But Ford needs to play better now at guard or won't start this year. -
I assume the OP is just messing around with some of his comments, such as the possibility of the Bills trading Foster for a 3rd or 4th round pick before the season?? An oversupply of NFL quality receivers on the Bills!?!! Good idea: trade away what, from all appearances, seemed to be one of your best young players last year, in one of the weakest areas of the team, to a desperate enough team for a mid round draft pick. We don't know if Foster will become the star he looked like he may become last year, but our eyes did not deceive us. (And most of the other players mentioned, like Bodine, generally have almost no trade value at all.) Whenever I read a bizarre and ridiculous post like this it makes me want to go back and check what the poster's views were on things like the Marshawn Lynch trade and see if they thought that (one of the worst moves in the history of the Bills) was a good, logical idea too...

Hardknocks Gunna be great this year..awesome clip

We should all be extremely grateful that Beane and McDermott would NEVER even consider being on that drama creating, team dividing spectacle. I think this will be the case for as long as they are in Buffalo. -
Which player will surprise us most this summer?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. I can't believe I didn't even think of Lawson until I read your post as he was a much improved last year and made some big plays. I think the Bills will regret declining his 5th year contract option this summer. THAT would be huge if Lawson excels now. Imagine how good this defense can be if Lawson, Murphy, Oliver, Hughes, all play to their potential this year. -

Surprised that his name has not come up before this. More of a 'hope' it happens for me this year, but if he played well, and then Kroft comes back strong, then an extremely weak area of last year's team becomes a strength. Would move this offense to another level. -

Yes, as with Singletary and Williams, if players like Murphy (and Johnson, though less vital here as the secondary looks solid) rise to their potential, and a player like Ty, then the Bills will be an excellent team. The good thing this year is it seems likely that several of these players will come through--and move the Bills to the next level. And it is different this year than in others, as the base of the team is much more solid than it has been in a long time, so these players can then be the key to a great year.. -

What do you mean about Jones?? I have no idea! If this happens and McCoy rebounds then this would be one of the best stories of the summer--and instill even more hope for a great season. -
Almost every summer at least one player pleasantly surprises in training camp and preseason. I realize that this is more about hoping this is the case than anything else. This summer, my prediction is that Duke Williams and Devin Singletary will be those players. In this case, if these two players come through, combined with a great defense and Josh Allen progressing, the Bills will be a very solid playoff team. They can help turn around two of the weakest areas from last year and also play a big role in Allen's progression.

Duke Williams- can he make the team?
Mister Defense replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think signing Williams may end up being one of the best off season moves by the Bills. He dominated in high school, junior college, and in the CFL. In my view, if in the fall we are talking about players like Williams, Singletary, Knox, Dawson.. the Bills will have a great year. -
Report: NFL owners pitch 18-game schedule

Yup, dumb; pure greed from some of the richest men in the country. -
Is having a #1 WR that important or just good to have?
Mister Defense replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was shocked to see the ignorance of the writer to name Watkins as an elite/#1 receiver, he who had under 600 yards receiving each of the last two years. I think the writer is confused because of his salary, but earning an unseemly 20 million next year does not make Watkins a #1 receiver. Watkins is not a #1 or elite NFL receiver, but a receiver who couldda been one, and may be one day, but that can be said for many. Foster, Brown, Beasley, Jones--this is the best group of receivers the Bills have had in many years. The wide receivers will be considered a strength of this team next year, not a weakness. If a tight end comes through as well, the Bills' receivers may be the team's most improved unit. We will see in a few months. So happy the Bills did not get Antonio Brown--our Brown may have the better year.. -
Come on! It doesn't feel like football in a dome. Domes are BS. If there is a new stadium it will be an open air stadium.

Yes, a great moment in the Bills history. It made me think the Bills can almost always come back, despite obstacles.

Is Donovan McNabb Hall of Fame Worthy?
Mister Defense replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He seemed like he was missing that edge, sometimes seeming lackadaisical even in big games. Maybe a bit like Bledsoe? He was a good player, very good maybe, but not an NFL Hall of Fame caliber player. -
EJ Manuel Retires from NFL
Mister Defense replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A good guy, is set for life financially. But he will likely work hard and be very successful. Look at his college stats, and at his college success. He could only do that with hard work, as we know his limitations. (Just not good enough for the NFL.) I was excited if his throw was in the vicinity of the receiver. I wanted to believe that the Bills had a good quarterback, finally. EJ will do good things in his life. -
This is nonsensical--Allen is by far the more recognized talent at this point. Of course not everyone feels that way, but as far as praise for their play and potential based on last year, Allen is clearly the choice. Not to say that Rosen will not be good, although now that he is a Dolphin I hope he is not.

RD 3, Pick 74: RB Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic
Mister Defense replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Um, yup..this fall.. -
Clearly the OP is joking, being sarcastic, correct? To put on the Bills wall the most inexplicably, unacceptably traded player in the history of the organization? To remind the Bills faithful of how incompetent, even negligent, the franchise has been at times in the past? A player that immediately then showed himself to not only be an all pro, but a hall of famer, the day after he was cut loose. (I remember after Lynch was traded of posting that it was the worst move I had ever seen the Bills make, and the backlash I got on the board when I said the Bills just cut loose their best player, and for almost nothing, and what may be the best back in the NFL.) You don't put evidence of the worst move in the franchise history (and one many on this board at the time felt was no big deal, a fine move) on your team's wall!

Both your question and mine are real questions, but mine seems more relevant to this thread.

Not game changers? Not much in Buffalo, but of course there have been many.

I don't know--what is your theory?

Been busy, and while paying a little attention to the draft players, today was one of the first times I have had some time to read about Hockenson. And frankly, as a long time Bills fan, hard to get excited for a tight end so I haven't been interested. To me, 1983 pick, Tony Hunter, a first round tight end, is still a key reference point. He played two years for the Bills. As Daniel Jeremiah said in his evaluation: "Hockenson is at his best in the run game. He rag-dolls defensive ends and linebackers. He had multiple pancake blocks in every game I studied. Overall, Hockenson is one of the best blocking tight ends I've ever evaluated, and he is dependable in the passing game. He's a Day 1 impact player at the next level." The Bills went after free agents to make their offense and Allen better, and shockingly, even making a play for Antonio Brown. So the Bills are looking for impact players on offense. Hockenson is the player the Bills' offense needs, like Cornelius Bennett was the guy the defense needed in 1987. Hockenson can have a similar impact. Imagine Josh Allen and Hockenson in the same backfield.
