Longtime NFL Scout Says Taylor Is "Below Average QB"
KD in CA replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In other breaking news, turns out the sun is hot. When you have no alternative, it’s easy to get caught up in wanting to believe, but, the dwindling diehards on this board notwithstanding, I think most people have known all along this wasn’t the guy. -
Ben McAdoo Has "Giant" Problems - Has Been Fired
KD in CA replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone thought the Jets would be picking a QB #1 next spring. Now it looks like it might be the Giants. -
Or back to the original bowl format with traditional conference bowl commitments. For all the whining, there was a definitive national champ almost every year under the old system. That one year it would have been great to have a Washington/Miami game but otherwise it was always settled on the field from my recollection. Seems like there have been even more controversies since the BCS thing started.

QBs only audible if they understand what the defense is preparing to do and understand how they can take advantage of it.

Woods? Sure; good player, hard worker, doesn't whine like a little B word. The other one? Meh....no real reason to expend the effort.
-
Relax. Plenty of time left to tank their way to a top 12 pick.

Last night i had the strangest dream....
KD in CA replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I dreamed that within a span of about 20 hours, Notre Dame and the Bills combined to get outscored by about 80 points. -
All true except the "forced" part. Those turnovers where handed to Miami on a platter. Wimbush was horrible, and the Book pick-6 was the back breaker. But yes, credit Miami with designing and executing an aggressive defensive plan that took away Adams (I don't know what going on with him, but he wasn't right) and put pressure on Wimbush. A great QB would have beat them deep all over the field (guys were open all night) and forced them to back off, opening up the run game, but instead Wimbush crumbled. The lack of preparation, low energy and no Plan B once the offense was stuffed in the first half was yet another nail in Kelly's coffin (hopefully).

More “painful” layoffs coming for espn
KD in CA replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would that be the segment that isn't completely brain dead? It's not like ESPN (or virtually any other news outlet) is subtle about their political views. ESPN has every right to preach politics. And people have every right to pretend that has nothing to do with round after round of layoffs. -
Bob Costas says CTE will destroy the NFL
KD in CA replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's 30,000 per game -- you forgot to divide by two (teams per game). Which is pretty good considering each team plays ten times the # of home games as NFL teams do. I have a hard time seeing the Bills drawing 30,000 for 81 home games. Even Bills fans can't drink that much! -
Eh, Alabama seems to do that every year. Usually it works out for them; as long as they don't lose twice in Nov they are gauranteed a playoff spot. Looks like it's Bama, OU, Clemson and Miami for now, thought Wisconsin should replace Clemson if they run the table. Also gets interesting if the Canes lose to Georgia.

Sex Allegations Against Roy Moore Send Republicans Reeling
KD in CA replied to ALF's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Considering how the news media has tripled down on the dirty tactics since Trump won, I have a hard time believing anything they say anymore. Just look at the ridiculous narrative they've been pushing for the last week about the 'wave' of 2 or 3 Democrats who won elections in solidly blue state (huge shock), plus the smear campaign against Donna Brazile. Given all that, it's entirely possible the Clinton crime syndicate has decided this would be a monumental win and manufactured the entire thing. Never been a conspiracy guy, but there is no reason to believe anything coming out of the left wing media any longer. They are all working the agenda and doing nothing else. I'd have anyone caught diddling with children or holding kiddie porn executed on the spot -- that's not hyperbole, I really would. But I can't just assume things uncovered by this crooked media are true any longer. They've destroyed their own credibility. -

Attendance of 72 million people this year isn't bad for a dead sport. LOL NFL only needs 1700 guys. College needs what, ten times that number? -
Good grief, apparently Miami has been improving since they squeaked by some of those ACC teams Notre Dame dominated. Wimbush showed why he's just average. Maybe if he doesn't miss the wide open TD on the first drive he gets his head into the game and doesn't hand Miami 10 extra points and we have a ballgame, but I doubt it would have made the difference. Miami was ready to fire on all cylinders and ND came out flat. Kelly had nothing once the original offensive game plan was stuffed; that's the most troubling outcome. The only highlight of this night was that sideline reporter. She's heat.

Catholic v Convicts IV Going to War Once More There was a great 30 for 30 about the 1988 game and the guys who made the original tee shirt. As with a lot of things, there were a lot more regrets than happy memories. Go Irish.

This is one of the reasons Vin Scully was the greatest baseball broadcaster ever. Didn't need a studio crew, bimbo on the field or rambling dope next to him. I laugh whenever I watch old videos of the '86 World Series where they had Vin in the booth with Joe Garagiola. Garagiola would say something about every ten minutes. He was the perfect color man! -

I know this is the popular wisdom lately, but are there any stats about injury rates based on # days since the prior game? -

Yeah, you'll see football disappear in certain communities in the US but I'm pretty sure there will never be a lack of guys willing to risk potential long term health benefits in exchange for millions of dollars. IMO, boxing declined due to a combination of factors. Boxing had an incredible parade of talent from the 60s through the early 90s which eventually dried up. Most people would have trouble naming a heavyweight champion since Tyson. This coincided with added safety rules limiting the length of fights, which turned off a lot of people. And of course, it lost the younger audience to MMA. But that's like major networks losing audience to cable, it doesn't mean fewer people are watching TV. -
