  1. The problem I see here is that many people assume the Bills will spend a lot of money in FA. They won't. Ralph has already said he can't compete with the larger markets. We have cap room but no money to give two or three huge signing bonus. So, look for one major signing and a few mid-level guys to fill some holes. The rest will have to come from the draft. And I'd put my money on Eric Steinbach. If Graham wants less than a 10 mil signing bonus, I can see the Bills trying to sign him too.
  2. I'm fine with Okoye or Scenario C. Scenario A is the worst thing it could happen. If there's one thing we don't need, is to invest a high pick on a WR. If the QB doesn't have time to throw and we can't run, you can have two stud WRs and it won't matter. See Arizona, for example. If you think we need one, grab one in FA or with a second day pick. We need OL/DL/MLB with our first three picks, any order. You build a team from inside out, not with fancy picks.
  3. Good points. The lines are the most important part of a team these days. Good lines will mask deficiencies elsewhere. And it's cheaper to assemble a good line than to pay a top QB, top RB, top WRs, and top CBs.
  4. Do we? If the line can't pass block (that means the interior too), JP's ass will be on the ground. What good would a new WR be? If the adversary don't respect our running game, it doesn't matter who your WR are. See the Pats playing. Who are their WRs? But their line is giving Brady time. And the running game is a good one.
  5. I agree. It really doesn't make much sense to use a precious resource like a 1st rounder on an RB if yours is serviceable. It's not clear how much of an upgrade Lynch would be in his first year over McGahee, anyway. And if the line can't block, you can put Thurman back there and he wouldn't reach 1000 yards. If McGahee is a goner, take a shot on a possible replacement in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, where plenty of talent at RB can still be found. Or, better, draft a RB next year, when he goes to Miami or wherever. But by all means fix the OL, DL, and MLB (since Fletch will leave) this year. That's what this team needs to win NOW. Not another RB or WR - it's the sexy/Donahoe pic to fill the seats in the begining of the season, only to see them empty later on, since the OL can't block and the DL can't stop the run. The first three picks this year should go to the lines and MLB.
  6. DT, MLB (assuming Fletcher leaves), OG. Okoye looks good, although I'd rather have (who wouldn't) Branch. In this order. If Nate leaves, use a second to pick a replacement for him. Cover 2 schemes don't need superb CBs, but, as we saw this year, good-if-not-great DTs/MLB are absolutely needed for it to work. No WRs and RBs, that is, no glamour picks. If the line can't block and the D isn't stout, this will never be a playoff team.
  7. Baltimore wanted Ngata all along - so they made Buffalo pick Whitner believing he wouldn´t be there at 15. By deceiving Buffalo, they assured their man would be there when they picked, although they needed to trade with Cleveland to be sure of that. If Baltimore didn´t want Ngata so badly, would they have traded up? Think a little...
  8. Jauron´s hire is probably keeps in line with what Ralph has done in the last few years. Let´s say that Sherman was just too expensive for a HC... Of course, fans be screwed - they don´t matter anyway... I´ll probably not follow the Bills next season - why bother with these losers?
  9. Dick LeBeau was an asst. HC here before he left to be Pittsburgh´s DC. So no big deal there.
  10. This guy had red flags all over him, as far as I can see. Weight problems, laziness, lack of focus, poor technique, stamina - this makes me remember a fat slob who used to dress as our RT... Two things, however, tell them apart - overconfidence and inconsistency. Big Mike has none of both - he has no confidence and is consistently bad...
  11. If Mort did his homework better, he´d know us wallers have been clamoring for JP since it was clear this season was a train wreck...
  12. Right now just making the playoffs would be a big jump.
  13. Last one by far (Big Mike´s weight almost that).
  14. Haslett is definitely not the solution. That said, he would at least have HC experience - something I´d like to see in the Bills´ next HC.
  15. The combine is the biggest bust-maker of the whole draft. Only because a guy runs faster than the others, he jumps 20 to 30 spots in the board. Turns out later he can´t play. If a guy can play, he can play - you don´t need the combine to know that. If he can´t, the combine will only make some idiotic GMs forget the guy is a stiff and select him at a ridiculous spot...
