  1. Can you post the mock instead of a link that doesn't show anything without being a member

    1. Mack--Hou

    2. Robinson-STL

    3. Clowney-Jax

    4. Bortles-Cl

    5. Bridgewater-Oak

    6. Matthews-Atl

    7. Watkins- TB

    8. Manziel- Min

    9. Lewan-Bills

    10. Evans-Det

If Watkins is available at 6, I think that's a trade up possibility for the Bills.

  2. Still hung up on the Mike Williams pick?

I don't see value taking offensive line in the 1st. Also Mike Williams has put up numbers in TB but he's a low risk high reward guy. If the Bills took a WR in the 6th I don't think that should prevent them taking a WR in the 1st. Which is how I look at the Mike Williams wr pickup.

As for Williams the OT pick. I think the game has evolved. RB's no longer have value early and I don't think OT's do either.

  3. I'm not a fan of taking offensive line early. Still not taking anybody in the mid rds would be a mistake. I wouldn't hate the picks but would like to see them address offensive line. Also even with both running backs going into free agency, I don't believe they're going to break the bank. I look at the deal Moreno got.

  4. Think my skepticism about Matthews is lately the last few "for sure" linemen have been far from being elite just average maybe above average. Eugene Monroe, Jake Long, Eben Britton, etc. Sure its just a uneducated hunch and he is one prospect I admittedly haven't focused on. O-Line is hard for me to judge, be the first to admit it especially when Manziel and Evans are on the same screen.

Robinson seems to have the higher ceiling, seen a few Orlando Pace comparisons. If we were to trade up I'm betting it's him.

If Matthews becomes a Bill, I'll be fan regardless though.

If the Bills trade up for an OT I think they're in trouble.

Nobody is a "safe," pick. Gallery, Curry, Dorsey were all considered safe picks. If Glenn is hurt the Bills got nobody to replace him just like if one of the WR get hurt or Chandler gets hurt. Mike Williams is a risk just like Chris Williams has been a bad player his career. If one of the WR gets hurt and Graham makes the team and has to play they're in just as much trouble. If Evans is available and Matthews is taken why settle? If Evans is taken and Matthews is available take him.

  5. Here you go Mr. Jackson:

Historically - the Bills have only drafted 4 WRs with the First Round pick, most recently Eric Moulds (1996) and Lee Evans (2004). The closest one before those two was in in 1982. http://en.wikipedia....und_draft_picks

Excellent ESPN article which goes into detail on how the Bills depth at WR is one of the best in the league (this is BEFORE the Mike Williams acquisition): http://espn.go.com/b...-wide-receivers

For those of you who are keen on analytics & supported data - http://www.drafttek....ek.com/ breaks down draft prospects based on historical data, franchise history, current rosters & team needs based on statistical analysis, and beyond. Based on their data, Marqise Lee even grades out better than Evans.

Before the season they ranked the Bills WR highly. After Rodak admitted he was too generous.

The Bills have historically drafted a lot of defensive backs and running backs, does that make them more likely to draft one this year? Scouts INC ranks Watkins higher than Julio Jones but less than A.J. Green at the time they came out. Evans and Jones were given the same grade.

With the trade for Williams I don't think the Bills will be looking for a WR in the 1st but I don't think it rules out the possibility if Evans or Watkins are available.

  6. Thanks for added info - AJ Green was well worthy of a Top 5 pick, but the other 2 seem to support being against a WR in the Top 10, let alone first round.

Austin was in his rookie season, STL QB situation is as bad as the Bills. Crabtree has improved every season. He was hurt most of last year but the three seasons prior his numbers improved. His last full season 2012 he had 85 catches 1100 yards and 9 tds. He's not Megatron but who is?

  7. Watkins #2 overall? Please. Let's come back to Earth and realize that him or Evans are NOT a mini Megatron, Marshall or Dez Bryant. In the last 4 years, only 2 WRs total have been taken in the Top 10. DHB in 2009, Julio in 2011 and Justin Blackmon in 2012.

Based on potential, should they be lottery picks? Yes. But just like RBs, WRs are becoming increasingly expendable when it comes to their turnover on teams.

The majority of teams picking within the Top 10 this year have desperate needs such as QB, OL, and DE/OLBs.

Tavon Austin, A.J. Green, and Crabtree were all top 10 picks also.

  8. Based on recent signings by Buffalo and several other teams ahead of us heading into May 8th's draft.....here's an updated mock that "likely" could happen come the #9 pick. I'm still curious to see if Doug & Doug Inc. will be willing to move up for the likes of Khalil Mack or Sammy Watkins.

#1 Texans - Jadeveon Clowney (regardless of if it's the Texans or a trade partner)

    #2 Rams - Khalil Mack

    #3 Jaguars - Blake Bortles

    #4 Browns - Greg Robinson

    #5 Raiders - Derek Carr/Johnny Manziel

    #6 Falcons - Jake Matthews

    #7 Buccaneers - Sammy Watkins

    #8 Minnesota - Bridgewater/Manziel

    #9 Buffalo - Eric Ebron

    #10 Detroit - Mike Evans

Based on the Mike Williams signing, I believe the coaching staff is satisfied with the WR talent currently on the roster. The more video I watch on Ebron, the more I think he makes sense for what the Bills were missing last season. I'm slightly concerned that the Falcons may take him at #6 in order to replace Tony Gonzalez and add to their arsenal of offensive weapons.

Do I believe Whaley is attempting to move up the draft boards for a higher pick this year? YES. Based on how Mack & Robinson are grading out, both are coming in to the league for immediate impacts. If the Bills find a trade partner in the Rams or Falcons, I believe Mack would be our preferred choice at #2 if able to acquire the pick. Robinson would be a gift at #6, providing us with a great offensive line with he and Wood/Glenn.

I don't think the Browns would have any interest in Robinson. Unless the Bills are looking at taking a QB, trading up doesn't make sense. With recent comments by Whaley that doesn't look like an option.

  9. With all the grief given to Tuel about his out put in his FIRST official start as a NFL QB the Bills fans have all but put him out to pasture so what's the sense of keeping him ?

If they feel that way & apparently the Bills coaching staff must feel pretty close to the same way as they dropped him to the 3rd QB & brought in Lewis it's all but over so get rid of him & bring in another QB like Boyd , which i think is another VERY good QB after what i saw him do 2 years ago in is bowl game .

But with the amount of talent at the QB position this year if we don't bring in another i think it will be a foolish move to not have a solid back up plan & who they have i don't think is a solid back up plan if EJ goes down again ...

I'd like to see more than the usual UDFA brought into compete as a backup.

  10. Does Trump pay newspapers to write about him? He must. Also I believe him as much as I believe that's his real hair. Committed to keeping the Bills in WNY? Why? Because he's a swell guy? I'm convinced if Trump ever came to own the Bills, which I think it's a long shot the NFL approves him, the Bills would be as good as gone.

Why? Because The Donald is out only for The Donald. Come 2020 he'd either move the team himself or flip them to another billionaire at a huge profit. The fox wants to own the hen house because he's committed to the safety and well being of the chickens?

    PTR

Trump is a lot of things if he keeps the Bills in Buffalo I don't care.

  11. OMG

    http://espn.go.com/n...e-new-trademark

Johnny Manziel continues to set himself up to cash in on his future.

In line to eventually secure a "Johnny Football" trademark, Manziel's team filed for more trademarks recently, including "The House That Johnny Built."

    ummmmm

would that be a Flop House ?

I see little chance of it happening but for the long-term viability of the franchise wouldn't the Bills be looking for a new stadium. Drafting Manziel whether fans want him or not makes the Bills or any team a helluva lot more interesting. He'd fill seats even if a bust for at least a season or two.

  12. I don't think McCown has been named the starer but will be given chance to win starting job

I don't see the Bucs taking a WR but I can see the Raiders taking one as they desperately need one

I'd have no problem with the Bills taking Ebron at 9

Lovie Smith said McCown would be his starter at a presser. I'd have no problem with taking Ebron at 9. I think Watkins will be targeted by teams. If he's available at 5 I don't think Oakland passes on him.

  13. Awful "gut". Almost every draft board and mock draft that I've read has Bortles the top QB pick and going first in the draft. Sure, Clowney and Robinson round out your top-3, but Manziel isn't going that high. Try this instead:

Texans - Bortles. They are NOT sitting for a season wtih Ryan Fitzpatrick playing QB. Clowney is the best athlete, but they NEED a QB.

Rams - Robinson. Don't disagree with this pick as their line has been atrocious. They could trade the pick as well for someone that wants Clowney.

Jaguars - If Clowney is still here, the Jaguars won't pass on him.

Browns - Manziel/Bridgewater. Brian Hoyer is not going to be the starter for this team. Alex Tanner is #2? Really?

Raiders - Watkins. Trading for Matt Schaub tells me that they'll be looking for a weapon for him.

Falcons - Mack. Best player in the draft (not the best athlete), and their defense needs help.

Bucs - Manziel/Bridgewater. Here's another team with a POS chunk in McCown as the #1 QB on their roster. Not happening.

Buffalo will be left with good options at #9. Matthews, Ebron, Evans, Lewan, Barr. There's a ton of players that would make an immediate impact for the Bills.

Mike Glennon was better than Manuel last season. McCown has been named the starter but I don't know if they'll give up on Glennon.

  14. Emotional maturity was the big difference between Manning and Leaf. Polian got that right.

Manning is an all-time great. I wouldn't argue it was a big difference but I think factors such as organization and structure come into play. Polian traded Faulk to St Louis when it was rumored Miami was offering more. Also he took James over Ricky Williams. Manziel is not Peyton Manning and comparing any QB to him is unfair IMO. I think Manziel is a better prospect than Manuel. The guy i'd compare him to is RG3. Year one I think you'd take RG3 after year two it's up for debate.

  15. If Johnny Football is such a sure thing, why would Houston (who clearly needs a QB) entertain trading out of the #1 slot? The answer is that he isn't a sure thing and since this is a deep draft with so many underclassmen declared, they'd like to pick up extra picks to get more good young talented players.

    Especially on Fridays.

Nobody is a sure thing at certain points guys like Robert Gallery, Aaron Curry, Glen Dorsey were considered sure things. Outside of Andrew Luck I can't think of one QB who was considered can't miss.

I'd love the Bills to take Manziel, I don't think it'll happen. If a team is trading up to the top pick for anything other than a QB, Whaley has to go. Clowney would have to be better than Bruce Smith to justify the trade.

With that said Ramses Barden is the guy the Bills should bank on?
