The Bills may be trading a one and done playoff appearance this year for a quarterback developing: - A more refined ability to read defenses - Some self preservation skills - A reduction in "idiotic" plays - More consistent mechanics - Better sense of line of scrimmage calls Not sure its time to take the reins off...taking the reins off likely results in more hits like the NE game. Just speculating...

Kay is the perfect woman....smart, funny, knowledgeable, kind, unafraid, beautiful and also cute...she reminds me of my wife. I really like the GMFB crew. There is a dynamic that is both entertaining and informative. I am glad they talk about the Bills a lot.

We are spending Thanksgiving in Dallas at Jerry's World -- wife and the three youngest sons. That was the only way I could escape being institutionalized after behavior at a family Thanksgiving event. Plus Senior in High School Son requested this as his graduation gift. I love that young man!

The Steelers protected Big Ben in his first two seasons -- how-- with Defense and a running game. He had less than 3000 yards passing each year (the second year he missed 4 games). That contributed significantly to his progress. McDermott is not going to rely solely on Josh to win games until he feels Josh is ready. If you think Offensive game plans will look the same next year, you aren't watching. Last year- get the kid a feel and use his feet This year- Develop his skills at reading d's; working progressions, becoming a complete QB; stop hero ball; protect the ball Next Year- will be based on year 2 -- may still have to do some remedial work The goal is to be a complete team and dominate...but now we rely on D and controlled offense. Its really not that hard to see if you think about it. I think the coaching has been pretty damn good and I am not going to complain about 6-2...I still think missing the playoffs is possible but I think the character of the team will get them through.

I know this will not be popular in this thread, but I believe the Bills have not played their best football yet this season. The O-line play--guys were getting absolutely blown up last year. Russ Bodine, Jordan Mills, Vlad??...Morse, TY/Ford and Feliciano are serious upgrades. The Bills are better up front... The play calling has been good at times but mostly what I call "cute" -- not gimmicky but not the way I would call a game. Coach McD wants a physical, tough team and Daboll sometimes wants to show us he's a genius. Let the big O-line just be physical a little more...try a game where we use the run to set up the play action rather than the reverse..which I have seen a couple of times this year. Josh is progressing...he had the least game experience of any other rookie QB in his class. He is on a pretty fast progression all things considered--but running a bit more may help that. On D--Zone blocking has killed the Bills and the phins exposed this...Bills need to show they can adjust. Bottom line, I think there is better football in the Bills future this year.

When a player is released (Trent not released yet as of this writing) with a failed physical designation it simply means that the team has terminated the contract of the player on the injured reserve (IR) list because the team has decided that he can no longer play for them because of the injury. When a vested veteran (more than four years of service) is released by his team, the player is free and can sign with any other club. However, when a player released with a failed physical designation is unable to play again due to the injury, the team will have to pay a league-mandated injury protection payout.

I just watched the entire presser. This was an answer to a second question about the trade deadline. Coach used the word responsible about 7 times in the two answers before he talked about irresponsible behavior of the past. A couple of things: 1) There was definitely no shade toward Beane. Went out of his way to say he and Beane talked about the deadline the last couple of weeks and implied there is a shared vision of short and long term thinking. 2) I honestly think this is more about cap management than specific personnel. Teams take chances on players all the time...that they can unlock talent, etc. I think its more about being conservative...etc.

We got good/extremely accurage Fitzy last week and I think good Fitzy is better than Wentz....gives me a bit of confidence.
