  1. The tone of voice kind of eliminates that....it was said a little in disgust (like "are you effing kidding me, back up JP???)....just my read of what I heard.
  2. He was struggling for words at the end of that question. He is still angry and bitter..."no two bit almost rookie is better than me" is basically my interpretation of this. The guy is a competitor with 12 years experience--JP is unproven. JP needs to prove himself and now he has the opportunity... Give Drew a break on this one--just like Donahoe when we he had his brain fart at the Williams firing press conference.
  3. Nick Bakay tale of the tape: Arrive in town: - Ralph's private jet - Fans along the parade route - HS Marching Band playing your college fight song - Laugh at Gregg Williams' man boobs - Laugh at Tom Donahoe's white hair Leave town: - Coach on Jet Blue - NJ Sue enthusiastically saying we love you/JP's gonna suck - Bills Front office Kazoo trio - Mike Mularkey's serious forehead - Tom Donahoe's fatherly good luck Advantage--Arrival.... Sorry Sue
  4. Probably the renewal of the McDonald's sponsorship......
  5. At least this was handled a lot quicker than Flutie/RJ...No matter what side of this debate you were on -- we are all JP fans now....Let's Go #7.
  6. What I mean is, he should be more aware of himself. He ought to know that he's not worth 4 million per year. He ought to know that his time as a backup has begun. He's simply not quick of mind. And you have to be. nod, this is dead on....I sure haven't heard many objective analysts say he still has the skills to lead his team to the Super Bowl. I still think the best place for him would be Buffalo--but its tough to tell someone who has been not just a starter, but the proverbial golden boy, for probably the last 20 years (including jr. high, high school, college and pro)--that the talent, timing, awareness are slipping... I just wish him the best...
  7. The man is a class act. Things didn't work out the way any of us would have hoped, but I was impressed by his values and his dedication to family. Thanks also for 8 games in 2002 when he took me from deep despair about this team to elation...I wish him the best of luck where the NFL road takes him for the 05 season.
  8. His wife is extremely good looking...Shania Twain good-looking.....met them at the NFL QB challenge in 1997.
  9. Thank you sir. Always appreciate the on-site insight.
  10. What size does Buddy wear? Any sign of Mike Williams' vehicle in the parking lot yet this offseason?
  11. I say this with the utmost respect. Please GAB......GET A BLOG....... Happy Valentine's Day Sue...I loved your comment to Hoggy in the deleted thread. Thanks for making me laugh.
  12. Cut all of them now--JP/Drew/ Twig/Berries/the server that hosts this maddening forum, everything... Bring in George Plimpton to play QB, bring in Burt Reynolds to play QB, Bring in Gil Bellows or Calista Flockhart to play QB..just shut these stupid mothers up for a week or two..... Thank you -- now back to your regularly scheduled insanity...I feel much better now...
  13. He needs two years......to be honest--I have nothing other than conjecture to base this on--but here is the way I think this will go 1st half next season--the kid has enough mobility and there is very little film on him--I say we are 5-3 at the halfway point depending on the schedule... 2nd half next season--teams catch up with him--they come up with schemes to control him a bit--we go 4-4 or 3-5 and just barely sneak in or miss the playoffs. 1st half 06-this is the make or break time--if he adjusts to the new looks teams are throwing at him -- we go 6-2 or 5-3 if not--we are 4-4/3-5 2nd half of '06 we make the playoffs and we have our QB of the future or we die on the vine and are looking at a total rebuilding job on O and D.... That's it -- two years...
  14. I am in doubly--- 1) I promise not to be critical through 2006 2) I promise not overhype if he has the inevitable 12 for 13 preseason game and crown him the next combination of Kelly/Flutie/Kemp/Ferguson and Lamonica...
  15. St. Pierre should be named Jonathan Paul instead of Brian---what kind of French name is Brian. He didn't even have to throw a pass to put us in the Veg-o-matic---all he had to do was hand the ball to Willie Parker.....
  16. I think there will be two John--they won't draft in '05 or '06 QB unless JP proves to be a horrible student these first few months of '05 or has a terrible fall and winter this season. One guess I would have is Kordella.....eeeeeeekkkkkkk--but he would be #3...I think Holcomb, Feidler, Maddox, Kitna (the last three if available) will top our lists. All guys who won't put extreme pressure to start (unlike a Garcia or Warner) but could do the job if needed. BTW, this probably means the $2.2 million in cap savings from Drew is a wash--because we need to fill two QB spots with those $'s.
  17. True words CW. We have no idea how this is going to go--your words apply to fan's evaluation of just about every personnel move made by a team. I will add one caveat. I believe this is a coaching staff decision--with blessing from Ralph and TD. The coaches who had input are Mularkey, Clements and Wyche. I have a lot more faith in those three than say--Gregg Williams, Steve Kragthorpe (who has turned out to be a good college coach) and Mike Sheppard... Those who will claim that TD is doing this to justify his investment in JP, fail to reference that he is inturn saying his #1 investment in Drew was not worth it. TD wants to win--I don't think he cares much about who he wins with or how they came to the team. This is a huge risk--one that could ultimately cost him his job..but then again every QB move in NFL history had a coach and GM's future at risk... So I broke my lenten pledge not to post on Drew/JP threads--bless me father for I have sinned.
  18. I did it to Ennjay--he meant I believe, Fast Freddie OR a UFA not Fast Freddie is a UFA.
  19. The session was bugged--here is what I picked up... Arbitor: So do you think we can come to agreement on this? Union Rep: No way Owner Rep: Not a chance Arbitor: Okay, hey Phil tell Harvey he has to stop at the Chinese place and the Pizza Place to bring in Dinner...each side wants different things...
  20. hmmmm the F's have number four on the way (a boy with due date one week from today)...the other three are pictured to your left....is there a market???--I can see it now -- a TBD suite at the Ralph...
  21. Bledsoe and/or Losman threads........I owe God 4 days on the back end since I waited until now to decide. Of course just about every thread turns into some facet of the debate--so I guess I will see you all in about 6 weeks -- Happy Easter!
  22. Kurt Warner and Amani Toomer and wives visited a village in Indonesia yesterday representing the UN World Food Program. Pretty touching story. The last line makes me reevaluate my opinion of Brenda Warner a bit--she has a sense of humor. Kudos to these four folks for making this journey. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns
  23. Cleveland is in rebuilding mode and a vet QB at the end of the road is no help to them Cleveland is in rebuilding mode but after they release Garcia they have nothing on their roster. Holcomb is a UFA. Don't be surprised if they express interest. If they start over in the draft--Crennel doesn't seem like the type of coach to send a Rookie to the wolves. Garcia is not an option since he was so vocal about his disdain for the Browns--and I think Garcia is a west coast only QB... Again just opinion but don't be quick to write off the Browns. The Skins have Ramsey -- and I think they are satisfied but never discount Danny boys penchant for sigining veteran named players. Brunnell not working out won't deter him in the least. There is reality and then there is the ego of Dan Snyder.
  24. Drew has displayed himself to be a very gracious, caring, thoughtful and generous person. I want only the best for him. I agree that the competitor in him will make him leave the Bills if he is not the starter. I think there will be few teams that will give him a shot to compete for the starters role. You eliminate the teams that run a west coast style (Tampa, Detroit) and those that have definitive or stable QB situations and you end up with: 1) Dallas 2) Chicago (Grossman coming off injury) 3) Arizona (although Green runs a version of the west coast) 4) Redskins (although they may be ready to commit to Ramsey) 5) Cleveland I am probably missing some...but I think that Dallas and Cleveland would be at the top of the list for him. The Bills will do whatever he wants them to do -- outright release is probably the route. I will never stop thanking him for 2003 when he brought a 3-13 team to .500 with some great performances and for shepherding the team through 6 straight wins this year. All that said-I think he has brought us as far as he can--we will suffer some growing pains with JP in short term and should bring in a veteran backup to hedge our bets -- but severing the relationship with Drew now has very little risk--we were never a playoff team with him--but we may be without him...
  25. http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=1989980 My browser is acting up-so I can't post the link correctly--but this story is worth a look--the whole witchdoctor thing is a little wacky.
