I think we should play 11 on defense not just 7....

I think he uses Right Guard.... I just hope he is in the workout room in the offseason....

From his bio.... Nicknamed “Pork Chop” by his mother who thought Floyd resembled Pork Chop Cash, a local pro wrestler, when Floyd was a baby. Bless me father for I have sinned, what I am about to post as a reply to this will reflect disparingly on Floyd's mom..... I wonder if Floyd's mom hung out alot at the arena waiting for Mr. Cash's Pork chop :-)

Holcomb looks like a very smart guy!

Great thread. A couple of observations on JP. He historically has been at his best when things break down and he has to create on the fly. We have not had that skill since Flutie. This is somewhat a talent that cannot be learned but is a combination of natural athletic ability and an innate ability to sense pressure. The danger is to rely on this too much and you end up missing out on some big plays that would have worked but the QB gave up on them early. I don't know whether JP's "play on fly" skills will translate to the pros--but it will be fun to watch if they do. As much as Flutie was reported to be a cancer--it was fun to watch things like the underhanded pitches and jump passes on the run--JP has this kind of ability. I think this skill protects us somewhat from long stretches of losing--there is always the opportunity to will out a few wins because we minimize the three and outs and negative plays. Interceptions probably increase but so does time of possession and other things as we convert some 3 and 5 + yards using a QB's legs and improvisation ability.... To the original point of the thread--we are immeasurably better than we were a week ago at backup QB. I really like the downhome guy from Fayetteville, TN...welcome Kelly Holcomb... -
Vikings | Wiggins Agrees to Terms - from www.KFFL.com Tue, 8 Mar 2005 22:02:45 -0800 Mark Craig, of the Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with free agent TE Jermaine Wiggins on a five-year, $7.3 million deal that includes a $1 million signing bonus. Reporter forgot to mention that Wiggins' contract includes 15 super bowl tickets to be sold through the head coach to a broker....

Ty Law/Buffalo Comments on NFL Access?

Clutch--just trying to be funny not being disparaging toward the information you posted yesterday. It was and is very much appreciated. Sorry if this seemed like a personal attack. It was a weak attempt at humor. -
Ty Law/Buffalo Comments on NFL Access?

Jesus--what fun would that be RJ?? Credible, credible--I'll give you credible--my cousin's friend's girlfriend's brother's blog said Ty was either coming to the Bills or is on a short list to succeed Vincente Fox as President of Mexico.... -

Gosh Mark--who would that be? I am stumped........ ;-) There is a certain similarity in style to the former TBD member who's name comes from the frozen state of water..... -
Not in 2005 as a starter--but maybe, if he works hard, 2006
-
"Ty Law visited with the Bills on Saturday. Apparently TD & him are trying to get something done." TD works on Saturday's....that's freakin hard to believe given his activities last Wednesday...

More habit than anything else billsfan--could do it either way....the cap increases every year too...

Maybe the Cards will rethink on Travis

For a Dell????? It could have at least been a think pad or a Mac.... :-)--Jesus, Dell is practically giving laptops away.... -
This is worth exploring....but if it doesn't work we should pay Nate now and wrap him up for the long term. We can actually save significant cap money this year (in the range of $1M) if we do this... Another note, Ty's injury is fairly serious--we should do nothing until that can be evaluated thoroughly... He has to be walking for that to happen.. Thanks for the information -- it was cluth Mr. Clutch..

WTH --- he should be with JP....that's valuable study time. Get Mularkey on the phone right now--what kind of damn ship is he running at OBD.... Those two should not be let out of the film room until JP is at least a Pro Bowler.. ;-)

Mad this is dead on... The guy is an elite coach...it took him half a season to reach a player with great potential and a high salary who we thought was unreachable and who had a huge meltdown before the season started. Coach M can work with just about anything -- but I think he was generally happy with the Right Side of the line last year and wants to tinker with C, LG and LT...so let's let him tinker---it could look something like... Teague--Demulling--Tucker/Faine (ohhhh--if the loss of stength is just a rumor)--Chris V -- Williams or Shelton--Demulling--Teague-Chris V-Williams Also--don't discount Jason Peters turning into a LT---the guy is special from an athletic standpoint but may have trouble grasping complex schemes --let's see if the McNally magic can work on this... By the way--I don't think we are necessarily tossing the playoffs away if we retool the line--continuity is important--but so is coaching and talent.....

Ralph Wilson.....how does he rate as an NFL Owner
JoeF replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You would know on the other stadium events :-) ---so if Snocross is the only thing---I was assuming a couple of concerts etc I am overstating that...I am probably a little light on the local marketing and radio rights--- Hammered, have you and Buddy had any interaction with the new starting QB? -
Ralph Wilson.....how does he rate as an NFL Owner
JoeF replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is in the bottom 1/4 in wealth probably--but the top 1/4 in class and respect for the Game...I can't think of an owner who deserves to hoist the Lombardi more. Remember that there is positive cash flow from the team every year...just rough numbers.. Expenses: Salaries and benefits $140 Million (Including players and staff) Operations and debt service $ 30Million (+ or - 20%) Total $170M Revenue Revenue from NFL TV and Merch $100M Tickets, parking, concessions $80M Local marketing contracts radio and TV $3M Erie County Lease $5M Other stadium events $2M Total Revenue $190M I bet the team clears in the range of $20-30M if not more a year...this is in addition to Ralph's diverse other business holdings...I think he can afford the bonus. My numbers may a little off--but I think they are close..where major markets the advantage over the Bills is in sweetheart leases that net much more than $5M and in local market radio and TV rights--which could go North of $30M for a major market team.... -
Good stuff. Thank you for the summary. Great pickup by the Bills....

Pompei's penmanship... Interesting that Peerless and Willis are mentioned in the same story Peerless tidbit: Don't be surprised if the Falcons cut WR Peerless Price this offseason. Price has not played up to the big contract the Falcons gave him when he was acquired from the Bills two years ago, and Price's attitude has not endeared him to teammates and coaches. There is a school of thought that says eliminating Price would be addition by subtraction. Cutting him would not come without a price, however. If the Falcons let him go after June 1, they would take cap hits of $1.7 million this season and $5.7 million in 2006. Cutting him before then would cost the team a whopping $7.4 million in cap space in 2005, or $3.8 million more than keeping him would cost. If the Falcons retain Price, he will have been saved by his contract. . . . McGahee: Bills RB Willis McGahee should be faster next season because he will be able to train for speed for the first time since blowing out his knee at the end of his college career, in January 2003. As McGahee gained confidence in his knee last season, he ran with power and gained yards after contact. His speed, however, was average.

RJ--I do think he is a stud cornerback and this is the market price. Nate has now made a pro bowl... Fred Smoot-no pro bowl Ken Lucas - pro bowl alternate just like Nate, 6 years, $36M, $13 M signing bonus Gary Baxter - no pro bowl 6 years, $30 M, 10.5 M signing bonus If we can get him for cheaper--we should obviously....and maybe there is a $3 or 4 million in salary over 6 years home team discount--but its not going to be significant -- this market is set..and its probably not going to decrease by the '06 offseason... Again just my opinion...
-
I think you two have hit on the major two reasons--not as much reason to market because we are coming off a winning season and switched to a young, exciting QB and wanting to be secretive to keep FA prices down and for competitive advantage. We have been used the last couple of years a couple of times to raise market value--but not near as much as the jets...

Can Marcellus Wiley be far behind.....
-
Cause it mentioned TY LAW
-
I doubt if Smoot gets more than Lucas, Bill..Lucas is pretty darn good in run support, Fred is a little timid...I think Smoot gets in the range of Lucas because of his a tad better coverage skills.. Gary Baxter signed with the Browns for 6 years, $30M, $10.5 M SB he was an up and comer--but still the 2nd best corner on the Ravens...

Unfortunately Coach--its the market for a stud corner--and Nate is one....My cap figures were wrong--corrected ones now appear.
