After a bit of hemming-and-hawing, I did decide to sign up to once again be a shavee at this year’s St. Baldrick’s event. It’s about raising funds for childhood cancer research; for finding/creating more child-centered treatments that don’t take such a devastating toll on their tiny bodies as the adult treatments they are forced to use now do. And it’s about supporting the kids who are currently at any stage of having to deal with cancer.
I do this in honor of my friend Matt’s daughter Sweet Sally Sunshine, who now battles seizures brought on by the harsh chemo that for now has removed the Infant ALL Leukemia from her body but has also damaged her white brain matter. And it’s just one of the challenges she and her amazing family endure every day. If you’d like to read about her journey, here’s her web page: http://www.sweetsallysunshine.com/
This year’s St. Baldrick’s event will be held at Finn’s Tap Room in Victor on Sunday May 7th, starting at 1PM. It’s a great venue and a wonderful environment – stop by to support us if you can! Great food and drinks too J
