The same is holding true in business right now. The trend a few years ago was to expand and diversify, but what ended up happening was that companies ended up doing many things, but none of them very well. Lately the thing to do is focus on "core business" and partner with other business in complimentary areas.

Why reinvent the wheel? Focus on what you do so that you do it better than anyone. SDS has done that. BillsDaily and TBD have a working arrangement. Billsdaily is linked at the top of TBD.
