  1. I believe we are still living with the consequences of this action. The unceremonious dumping of 3 of the best players this league has ever seen. Buffalo went from a desirable destination for players & coaches to being the NFL's figurative (if not literal) Siberia. Having to completely over-pay marginal players to come here in free agency. High draft picks playing out their initial contracts to get away via free agency (if not forcing a trade before then). The Butler/Donahoe/Levy/Brandon/Nix carousel at GM making draft blunder after draft blunder. Retread coaches or middling coordinators put in charge of the team on the field. All of this eroding the fan-base.
  2. It didn't take much thought to say "no". Difficult is not the word I would use. Difficult means hard-to-do. It's not hard for me to be a Bills fan - takes no effort at all really. It's pretty much ingrained in me and has been a big part of my life since I was old enough to remember. I think it would be difficult for me NOT to be a Bills fan. A word I would use instead would be frustrating. Draining. Maybe even painful. Those of us who have been through one or more of the "up" times (mid 60s, mid 70s, early 80s, most of the 90s) remember just how euphoric those periods are. It's almost like gambling - the hope of another payoff like those keeps us coming back, even through the pain of loss. And like gambling, you find ways to make those losses less painful. You bet less until it turns around. You curse the "gods". You blame other people at the table. You share the pain of a dealer draw to 21 with the people around you. You tell yourself that if you lose 2 more hands you'll get up and take a break, and then self-loathe for not getting up sooner. You enjoy other activities at the casino for a while. For those who have not experienced the good times, I understand. You don't have the joy to keep you in. But then again, maybe you're sorry for me not being able to break away.
  3. It only took 42 years for the first one to come out so you may be onto something there. And I love the quotes around the word "dead"
  4. sounds alot like Cindi Lauper EDIT: Oh, that was an ad for an upcoming Cindi Lauper performance on New Year's Eve at Mohegan Sun where she'll undoubtedly play both of her songs.
  5. http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/Orchard+Park+NY+USNY1071:1:US Cloudy, 30% chance of rain, high of 49, winds 13 mph.
  6. An excellent point! But then we'd see more of his face, which we probably don't want.
  7. Probably not much different than going to early-season meaningless road games. I often kid Kenny that the Bills' slide coincides with his streak - we've only won 1 playoff game since it began, and that was in '95 (the 'Tim Tindale' game against the fish).
  8. cell reception is improved this year - it's one of the things they got big-time dinged on in the annual survey of season ticket holders.

  10. Mine now smells like camp fire after being downwind for hours at the Pinto Tailgate, but it's a good memory.
  11. The hat was camo-style in honor of Veteran's Day. I kept joking that anyone wearing it would be invisible inside the stadium.
  12. That drive in the 4th quarter killed us. Almost 9 minutes long but only 46 net yards. No passes. Overall 12 penalties for 108 yards. 3 turnovers.
  13. I'm not surprised the D started slowly, with the number of new pieces and other pieces moved along with a new coordinator/scheme. Add in the injuries, family tragedies, and rookies learning on the job and you get an incohesive mess. I fully expect continued improvement for this unit as the season progresses. This is one more reason to be optimistic that we can make a run.
  14. Having Roethlisberger out (and maybe Leftwich too after last night) really helps.
  15. Well look at that, yes I did. And hopfully so does Chan.
  16. I can just as easily see them losing 3-4 of 'em.
  17. I'm just hoping we can win a game - another game...
  18. PS - It is also well known that Hammer is very discrete and he does not broadcast to the world when those associated with the team frequent his facilities.
  19. Same as usual - avoid turnovers & penalties, convert 3rd downs, score TDs from the red zone. Luck might be a little skittish after yesterday's beat-down so some pressure from the front 4 would be good.
  20. Always entertaining... http://nfl.si.com/2012/11/18/bart-scott-attempts-to-lead-teammates-in-media-boycott-after-jets-win/
  21. Indeed. Guys.... Hammer has the closest private lot to the stadium and is willing to park RVs there. Lee's family adopted Hammer's lot as their lot of choice. Lee would head over there to party with his family at their RV after games. Anybody who spent time at Hammer's during Lee's time in Buffalo knows this. As to why he/they were in Buffalo for this game I do not know. But believe me that if they WERE in Buffalo for a game (and I have know reason to doubt they were), that's where you'd find them.
  22. Update: All charges have been dropped. Apparently there's now a law on the books that says that if a call for help is made for someone in drug-related distress, no charges will be brought against the caller or victim for drug amounts under certain limits. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/drug-charge-dropped-against-bon-jovis-daughter-220945819.html
  23. Spend the extra $ and get seats on ticket exchange in a lower-bowl season ticket holder section (between the 10s). You'll be glad you did.
