B/R Report: Rex wants to start Tyrod, other coaches split
TSOL replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Opposite of detracting in my words is supporting. Besides, I'm just screwin around, its just a game and I can only take it so seriously. Like I said, I love the debate. I also fully accept your source saying Cassel is frontrunner in Romans eyes and I think it's best to leave the decision up to him. I will accept Cassel as starter if that's what happens, I'm OK with it. I'm also mostly OK with EJ being 3rd string. You seem to be one of the most level headed posters on here, and I know you don't fact bend, but many on here do. If the detractors want to fact bend in their favor, I'll try to do it in my favor, that's all. He has two seasons under his belt, not three and that's all I want to point out. -

I haven't heard any of the coaches say Cassel has outperformed EJ, I haven't seen Squat from Cassel this season, I have seen EJ and he looks good. You saying EJ dosent look as good as Cassel seems fabricated. Also, EJ only has 2 years in the league, he is begining his thrid year, so when people say he's a third year player, that seems inaccurate, also seems like wording to propel your beliefs that EJ is just not good. Nitpicky, I know, but this is a nitpicky debate. Look, I love the debate, I really do love the argument and back and forth between the detractors and supporters. It's fun, and discussing differing opinions is healthy and interesting to me. But you hillbillies trying to say he won't be in the league in 10 years, and he only looks good against grocery baggers, just, you need something better. Cassel looks no better than EJ, and if you were sitting down, having a few beers with Rex and Roman, I bet they tell you that exact thing. They may just trust giving the keys to the car to an 11 year player over a second year player. Put it this way, would you sooner let your 16 year old son drive your brand new 2016 Corvette Stingray around the block or would you trust it more in the hands of your 28 year old friend. As a note, I'm not just directing my comments to the poster I quoted, I'm directing them to the numerous detractors posting in this thread. -

Anyone read last weeks Jerry Sullivan column? What a basket of rainbows and sunshine that guy is. -

I've been thinking the eaxct same thing as the OP. Only thing is, is such an elaborate smokescreen would only really benefit us for the first game. While it could be true, hell, I wish it were true, I just don't see EJ getting the start at this point. I do think Rex and Roman are having a lot of fun keeping the media and fans chasing their tails on the QB issue. I know I'm having fun with it! Love the excitment Rex has brought to the franchise so far, now just win some friggin games! -

I'm pretty sure he's right, that was Bruce. *edit* looked it up, it was both Bruce and Biscut that did it together. -

TSOL replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like the sound of Cassel getting the nod either, but if that's what our coaches decide is best, I'm behind it and will root the Bills just the same. They are the ones with the p!an. EJ is progressing, most people agree, and another year on the bench can't do anything but good for him. I think we're seeing him get the fire in his belly, and wouldn't be surprised if he gets some playing time this year. But if not, as another poster said, maybe next year he does get a legit shot. This QB competition is doing all three of them nothing but good. Maybe we will get a legit franchise guy out of this process after all, one can only hope. -

Funny, cuz I knda thought Tyrod looked a lot like Lamont! Good stuff though 26, thanks. -
EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.

Well, yeah that was a little much but Marrone will no doubt go down in Bills history as one of the all time great jerks! -
If Marrone still coached the Bills ...

EJ starts drinking heavily, develops beer belly. -

Do you remember last years preseason when Marrone gave EJ like two series in each preseason game. What was up with that, EJ needed the work then but St. Doug was like obstinate to not play him. And remember I forget which game last year, Manuel got in at the end of the game, had 2-3 minutes left, and Manuel didn't get one single passing play call. What was up with that, he could've used the work. Almost like Marrone just had a personal vendetta against him. Anyways, my point is, I think he deserved a fair shake back then, and I do now. I know he's not going to start the season (probs) but he deserves a fair shake. That's all. Orton wasn't even on the team back then. -

You know, they're probably all going to suck this year. If we start Cassel, everyone's gonna be calling for Tyrod or Manuel by week 4. If we start Tyrod, everyone's gonna be calling for Manuel, and if we start Manuel.... Well, you can only imagine. -

I'm not saying Cole is not a good reporter, I'm saying Rex has a strategy of dealing with the media designed to have them chasing their tails like puppy dogs. -

Smokescreen. -
Biggest concern of mine on Rex is the way he has handled offense, but got mad trust in Roman. And yeah, that's a strong concern, don't want to lead the league in stupid, but would be great to lead the league in kickin' ass!

Wawrow Article Indicates EJ Sees Wall's Writing

Rex is so playing our small town media like a fiddle and having a field day with it. I'm really starting to like this guy. Until our first loss, of course. -

This QB competition this year's is actually turning out to be freakin EXCITING! I love it it's been the best hope we've had in years. I love the way Rex is playing his hand, and the competition is nothing but good for all three of them! Go Bills, this may shape up to be an exciting season! -

Bulldog on wgr right now giving EJ some credit but completely dismissing his ability to start. His manlove for Tyrod is making me blush, but seems to think its going to be Cassel to get the nod in week one. Bizzaro radio... To me at least -
What Is More Important Final Game Stats or Individual Drive
TSOL replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think stats are meaningful when trying to determine individual players abilities. As far as scouting players to bring in, or determining if a guy is good enough to keep on the squad. But stats can be misleading in the final outcome of a game, say if a QB goes 5 of 17 for 120 yards and two touchdowns, but loses the game. Did he play a good game? You would have no idea from those numbers so you have to watch the game. Because football is the consumate team game. I'm not huge on stats, they can be misleading but can be a good gauge of players. The strategy aspect of football, the back and forth, field positions and yes, mini battles, that's what I love about football. -

Thank you for responding, I was just curious,Manziel can throw a pretty pass at times and has some intangibles. -

FC, serious question, would you trade EJ for Manziel? Who do you think is the better QB with more potential. -
Dareus unhappy with Bills in contract talks (update:He's ok)
TSOL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's Marcel using every bit of leverage he can to get as much as he can and I can't blame him for it. It's up to the bean counters to decide if they can pay him what he want, make him happy without neglecting the rest of the team. If a 100 million dollar contract is going to cripple the team, then, you don't do it. Don't forget, were gonna have to pony up a big contract for EJ, before too long...
