For 1980 and 81 I think he was the best back in the league. He was great at catching the ball out of the backfield following his blockers down the field. Yes Ralph was a real cheapie in those days and a lot of players were going to the USFL back then but it seemed strange when he came back in 1985. The talent was gone but I think he finally got some money. I don't really remember what happened after that to him other than I believe Rob Riddick or Ronnie Harmon meant he was done. Does anyone remember if he was even a starter the year he returned? I partied to much back then. When he held out in 82 I think he was asking for 480,000 and at that time that was some serious green. I believe he was only making about 150,000 a year on his rookie contract. Ralph should have paid it.

No way are they dismantled. They signed the most important players on this team and still look solid. I think JP is a good player but didn't really play well in the second half of the playoffs. All he did was cherry pick. He did score a nice OT goal. Max, Connelly, Danny Brierre were priority and the Sabres made the right moves. Its just everyones contract came up at once. JP is a great guy though and I wish him the very best. Class player.

From the highlights I saw today I think we'll hear a lot of "Losman to Parish for the TD." I really like the way JP is looking and Roscoe looks real good along with Lee right now. JP hit both on TD bombs today and on one he pump faked. He did throw a pick but looked impressive again. Willis looked real quick, Crowell had a sure pick that he dropped.

While I know looking good in practice does not always translate to a success on game day (see RJ) I think with his improvement he's our best bet at the QB position this year of course I never got to see Nall. I think JP showed signs of a good QB last year against K.C. and Miami so if he can become consistant given time by the new O-line he could make things interesting this year.

I saw some some highlights and I did notice JP's improvement. He was impressive

They already made that comeback last year so I think its time to make it a permanent change. They look so much better than the current ones.

...and also JP needs to do much more than cherry pick for 3 periods. He's done nothing but in this series

I know Teppo is hurting still hurting but I hope he can play threw the pain...Ruff said Mair was cleared to play so I'm not sure why he wasn't in the line-up. As for Tim Connolly it is extremely important for him to get back in this series. Their are risks to concussion injuries but this may be the only time these guys get the chance to play for the Stanley Cup. I hope they make the right decision. I'm not saying their Jakeing it because they are hurt but the team needs them to get back before it's to late. Tallinder really hurts if Teppo stays out.

I'd go as far to say if Connolly alone comes back we win the cup

If he wants a Stanley Cup he may have to in the next series because I don't think we have a chance without him. It's a risk. Hey maybe he can get one of those kazoo helmets like Mark Kelso wore for the Bills. I would like to see Lindy give Vanek another try. When he sat him earlier in the year it lit a fire in his belly.

They really need Tim Connolly back. They lack a playmaker with his stick on offense. They may end it tonight but to advance beyond that Tim needs to come back. I know concussions are a series business but he has to decide because he may never get another shot at the cup with another team.

What a freaking game. This team never gives up and you can just feel it. They know they will come out on top. Who ever wins this series I believe will win the cup.

I'd only agree with that as long as we get 2 Rd 1 picks like in 2003 with Willis and JP. I do agree he's a rare talent and if he's still their and Marv can swing a trade to get another team to give up their number 1 and we still get one of the top lineman in the first round. That's alot to ask for but I'm hoping that Marv has stayed quiet in FA for the upcoming draft
