Brandon Marshall "near incident"
jimmy griffin replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Big Hit Whit! Donte never tackled Brandon Jacobs last season on Jacobs big TD run. Donte was scared and took a poor angle at the big man. That showed me a lot about him. He is a good palyer -- but not worth the $10 mil he is paid. he is NOT NOT a probowler. Compare him to Pitt's, Troy Prom.... -
Jay Cutler's best day as a pro

guy throws a GREAT ball. eh? and he can run too. he is pretty damn fast -- and at teh end of the game ran a 20 yarder to set up the marshall TD. but his arm is incredible. i dont know if i have seen that type of throw ever. not compact or spaztic like Favre. it is just smooth, with touch yet fast. like carlson palmer. dude is going to win a championship some day -- mark my words... -
Ryan Torain had his knee sprained last night. It looked as if it happened after the play -- as Torain was laying under the pile post tackle. A Brown then jerked his knee back -- it was brutall. A Denver lineman was fuming pissed off at the play. Anyone esle see that play? As a fan of the sport -- i thought it was sick.

Brandon Marshall "near incident"

good points. but to challenge you a little, the QBS usually get twice or three times as much $ as the WRS. so, the agents and GMs know who gets the credit for a good pass. Also, a good WR can draw coverages. teh top guys u mention all make the other WRs seems much better. With out bruce, holts sucks. without a healthy TJ Houz - johson sucks. Driver is not a top 10 WR. Not is evans. REggie wayne is the exception. HE does his job and keeps quite. Santana moss is a little punk. -
Ellison is a major problem. He is not an NFL caliber player. Ko and Donte are not run specialist. They are jack-of-all-trades, who do not impact any area of the field. They can't support very well. POZ may be big -- but he is a gang tackler. He is a good player -- but not an impact blocker shedding running back killer. he is more of a jump on the pile type -- als Chris Speilman -- late in his career (post Detroit). Mitchell is a devasting tackler. But his is only one guy. The DE ends are week and soft. I reported this after the Redskins preseason game when Kesley got driven back 5 yards every run my Portis. And Denny has always been a kitty, who after every play is standing with his hands on his hips looking around like a deer in headlights. I have NO PROBLEM with williams/ stroud and co. they have been fine. And poor Stroud -- he is like a Lion who is attacked by 10 mangy wild dogs OLs and TEs all game with no help.
-
We knew they were soft at DE end for some time now. Kelsey and Shoebel are undersized. Without substantive run support behind them, they look terrible. Ellison is udnersized, as well as POZ. Wittner and Ko Simpson are not impact tacklers who play bigger than they are. Thus, you have a situation where the DE ends have no support -- to hide their weakness (run support). Mithchell supports well, but he is one guy. Runs off-tackle and on the edge are killing this team. They can run away from Stroud and Williams. Problems with the Special Teams is looming large. McGee out -- has been terrible for the return game. Field position is important -- clearly. Where are teh timely speclial team plays? Bobby April needs to shake some things up... Trent needs a running game. The line has talent -- with Peters especially. They need to develope a mentality on the line and an indentity. A blocking TE might be needed. Teams are not respecting Trent. If they drop back into 9, 11 step drops backs, they need to max protect and lets him loosen up defenses and safeties that are cheating to the line and up into the box for run support. If they want to run, then go double TE and run it. Either way, they need to define what they are doing. Defenses are dictating -- and that is a sign of poor coaching and poor execution. Peters and Dockery and Fowler must take a look in the mirror. The DE backfield looks good when there a passrush. It also looks good when they have talent. Leonis needs seaoning. Not fair to blame. When you loose your starting Corner -- it is just hard to regroup (look a the Broncos without Champ). They can still win vs. the PATS. The Miami game was all turnovers. Trent needs to go back to managing the game -- and protecting the ball. More plays on special teams are needed. I like the Bills to win this weekend...

thread is about ashton. but yes, spoon did rip the same one twice. once in college and then as a bill.
-
spoon wasn't that bad, but he was undersized. i think poz is undersized too. these guys have short playing careers and agaist teams dedicated to the run, usually geet steamrolled. stroud must stay healthy to prevent this above from occuring. the defense goes as marcus goes IMO...
-
the problem is that the afc left tackles suck. no ogden no willie anderson. i expect brick fergusson to be the starter this season. with joe thomas as backup. peters will not make it and get paid $6 mil per season -- after they cut denny to free up some money.
-
we reported on ashton's progress on this board in august. at camp, he stood out with his closing speed and maturity. good body control in the air and he was turning his hips and head around to the ball nicely. he came out as a junior from a very good OSU def. backfield and had the injury and his mom's death. but levy believed in him -- and you can see ashton is a savvy player with good balance and technique. but he the pressure on the passer allows for our nickle and dime guys to look even better.. GO ASHTON!
-
Yea, he showed some moxie there. As his confidence grows, this team will turn the corner. a solid QB allows the entire team someone to rally around. #1 job is to keep trant healthy and on his feet with good weapons. no injuries...

How many Yards for Marshawn Lynch?
jimmy griffin replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think he will do alright -- 80-90 yards. he can only play 2 downs. but our 3rd down back MR. FRED JACKSON will have a GREAT game. i see him totalling 100 yards with a large TD reception and a few 15-20 yard runs. it will depend on how well teh WRs block down field. the shrimps are bruttal, but hardy can plant some guys and that will be good to see. to demonstrate, james lofton and andre reed were premier downfield blockers. thruman -- when he got to second level, was a wild little water bug out there. evans adn reed adn roscoe are like three rodeo midgets out there. .. -
holmgren will have his vet team ready to play. they are methodical on offense and will pick the bills apart. but bflo can stall their drives in the redzone. truffant will shut evans down. lynch will have trouble finding room with seattles active LBS. I EXPECT a field position game where a big special teams play wins it for either team. edwards will be fine, and will work royal and the flats ands hot reads well. jukius jones does not scare me. but ducket does as he will and can run over the soft underbelly of the bills (LBS). leonis will run a td back and lindell gets the game ball...

Peters will report Saturday
jimmy griffin replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yea, but t hey cant overpay for evans. he is a nice player but is NOT elite by any standard. they way overpaid moulds years ago. evans should make top 10-15 wr money -- not more. he is undersized, average route runner, an average down field blocker and playing on an sad offense -- for the rest of his career. he sure has soem speed, but who doesn't? good player, but he aint getting top 10 money. peters get that money or a few LBs in the draft in 2009... -
Now Peters will show us what he is worth. Can he stay healthy? Will he dominate? If he does, Wilson will reward him with $7-8 mil, with $12-20 mil. guaranteed. This was like the Cuban Missle Crisis. a win win. a young man gets to show his worth and an owner get to pay a man a fair days pay for a fair days amount of work. good bless america. no hard feeling to eugene parker. we leave it on the field gene...

wilson won this battle. good for him. he aint no band leader. good for jay. he is good young man who will do a nice job in there this season. he will get some money soon. $7 mil. per season, no more. matt murphy's days are numbered. kurt chambers is a nice backup for langston ! -
Crowell out for Sunday's game...
jimmy griffin replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see what a common mind would be thinking, when they read the post you agreed with. That is, there are two NFL linebackers who have knee injuries who both disclosed that they had such injuries before the season. Fans and the media were confused as to why disclosure of the injury took so long. The facts are that both guys had knee injuries that were known to both teams. Crowell never played all summer. I was at camp the entire time, he sat around giggling while others hit the pads. we dont know the damage in his knee. medically speaking, we don't how sever it is, etc. meriman's injury is in his knee. the extent or grade of the injury in unknown. a partial tear, small tear, large tear, etc had NEVER BEEN DIAGNOSED. so now we have tow guys, with all this said, who have knee injuries of some sort. the idea you support, that you got from another posters, is that Crowell should play -- ala Merriman. Based on what facts? Oyu agree with a point -- based on merriman playing? I say, not a good point, to state that the original posters made a good point. Think about what i have written. I think it is reasonable. i dont want to argue, but you are supporting a bad point and not a good point b/k there are no medical facts to back-it-up, only some arm-chair medical diagnosis... -
eddie kilgore is still doing sports in bflo? pretty good. im waiting for irv weinstein and tom toles and ric azar to sound in next. but really, i like eddie, and he is right. wilson has peters in his doghouse and won't budge. peters is a 26 yr old punk who had success fall into his lap. a man who forgot where he came from and ran into the loving arms of mean-gene parker, a power agent who seeks to hold the game hostage at the expense of the game itself and the player. the player gets more money, but the game is watered down, ultimately. the rational is that the player needs security and can loose their career on one play. its a game. a game with big money involved and business standards and protocol used. both sides have their worthwhile points. it would be a shame to sit peters. a young guy who should be using his skills. on the other hand, he made his bed. peters tried to muscle an old man who has seen his share of shake down agents like parker and young players who are clouded by greed. parker thought wilson would roll over b/k the team sucks and peters is a building block type player. this is wilsons team and he runs it like a business. parker should appreciate that. after all, isnt he and his fellow agents mantra, 'THIS IS a BUSINESS?" peters will get his money, but why bicker over $1-4 mil when you have NO standing, other than one season in a probowl, in a down yr (rookie joe thomas wsa the starter -- weak crop, ogden had retired) and you limped off the field with a torn groin last time wilson saw you? peters has no standing.

Crowell out for Sunday's game...
jimmy griffin replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this is what you said was a good point: "WTF Merriman is playing with some duct tape, two rubber bands, and a dab of super glue keeping his knee together. Cro decides to do this out of nowhere 3 days before the opener? Something seems weird about that." remember? nobody knows the extent of the injuries of both players. as such, the point that "Cro" did something wrong(as the poster you support has suggested and purported), and that because another Linebacker did something different about their KNEE injury (how meriman handled his injury v. crowell), is not related, or make sense. i see where your brain was going with it. you see a connetion between two NFL male humans who have knee injuries and are LINEBACKERS. indeed, they are both linebackers with knee injuries. carry on... -
