I'm going with Chris Wells from Arizona. Arizonas zone blocking, three WR formations are just perfect for the one cut and go north Wells. He has GREAT game speed and vision. I would have loved to see Buffalo get him -- as he is a force and a very mature leader type. He acts like he has been a pro for 5 years. Wells will score 8-10 TDS and have 1100-1300 total yards this season. Probably the closest thing to Eddie George I have ever seen.

Greenbay rolls over Arizona
jimmy griffin replied to bills-fan in arizona's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
green bay might win 11-12 games this season. dom capers blitz packages will get the ball in rogers hands a lot each game. capers has some VERY active linebackers on that club. if charles woodson shows up this seasaon and stays healthy -- they will make some noise. rogers is just brilliant as a passer and leader. he can run as well. but that OL protects very nicely - and they of course have some dynamic WRs. Ryan Grant is a force to be recon with at RB. While not elite, he is determined to make defenses work and loves contact. that is a 3rd or 4th season offense with the same personnell. they will be VERY good and i wouldnt be surprised to see rogerw throw 30-35 TDs this season. -
Well this certainly changes things

this would be a great find if bell can start some games. the guy has good footwork adn technique. but i really like his balance -- he is very sure footed and goes back and forth quite nicely for a big man. his hand checks are always correct and he seems to be able to control pass rushers. i havent seen enough of him run blocking or pulling out of his stance and going after a would-be-tackler yet. he might just be a good pass protector -- i dunno... if he can play, that is great. and this kid nick harris is another surprise that will start soon. This guy is active and smart. His game fits pro ball and he should be on the field opening day. I guess he will be a special team hero for a while... -
maybin only played one season of college -- so he is very green. but he has all the tools to be a great player. his arm lenght and span is unreal and he is able to use that along with his long torso to extend and snatch /pressure qbs and rbs. of course, he has that great first step/ burst. He is paper thin -- like a cheetah. If he stays healthy -- he will be a 10 sack guy every season of his career. He will be like Jevon Kearse IMO. Mario Williams is a totally different player. Williams is VERY physical and gets into the middle of guards and tackles and drives them off the line. Mario is like reggie white with his great first push and explosion off the line. white later developed arm moves (swim/ hump move, chucks) and that made him a legend. Mario is getting bigger ever year...

eugene parker at it again
jimmy griffin replied to jimmy griffin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Crabtree is going to be awesome -- and that is the sad part of the story. Thsi guy is Andre Johnson PART II. But this idiot agent is holding it all up for greed. Parker is a the worst agent in pro sports. a greed monger... -
give me a break. #5 just needs to get rid of the ball faster. he needs a running game and needs a defense and special teams unit than can keep him out of poor field position. forget the warm milk.

It is widely believed that the 49ers won't pay Michael Crabtree a dime more than the Packers gave to defensive lineman B.J. Raji at the ninth overall slot. Meanwhile, we're hearing that his agent, Eugene Parker, is dealing with the Crabtree conundrum on the recruiting trail by blaming the holdout on the player. Parker, we're told, is pointing to the deal he negotiated for defensive end Tyson Jackson at the third overall slot as proof that Parker is willing and able to negotiate a fair deal for a first-round pick. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...iners-crabtree/

The Curse of Nate Odomes (Crowell done)
jimmy griffin replied to CarwellGardner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sammy Morris debunked the Nate Odoms curse. Sammy has been awesome since leaving the Bills. But all -in -all, most former Bills have been terrible /injured. -
Good point on the work stoppage. The strike will foreclose much and make front offices think hard about salaries. At this point, IMO, Wilson has to pay for a big name. It has been 10 years since this club has made the playoffs. 1999. Thus, he has to sell more tickets and create a buzz. There are GREAT coaches out there now -- ive never seen so many superbowl (and winnings guys) available in one season. These coaches are not just expensive -- but they are winners. Gruden, Shanahan, Cowher, Holmgren and Dungy are all SB winners. All still innovative and reliable. All want to coach again IMO -- with maybe the exception of Dungy. DJ is a teacher. The OF coordinator is a joke. The talent evaulators are jokes. They need someone who can think with Bill Belacheat. Every week, DJ gets outclasses and outsmarted by innovators. He coaches scared and timid. The team has taken on this personality. Weak. A SB coach will instill confidence -- ala PArcells in Maimi now.

Cump Sherman took Stone mOUNtain GA is three days in 1864. No one thought he could do it. THese coaches could come to blfo. Anything can happen my southern friend...

I'm not sure what you have against Cowher. But to call the guy overated is hilarious. You cant be serious, are you? He is a former LB - -a free agent who, I think, was undrafted and made the Eagles. He got a coaching job from Marty Schottenheimer at 28 years old! He is just what the Bills need, a rugged, no nonsense hard nosed disipline first guy. He knows talent and made Donahoe leave Pitt -- after TD lost a power struggle with Cowher. That was the only reason Wilson had a chance to sign TD adn fire John Butler. Cowher's drafts (with GM help) are legend. Look at the talent he, in part, incorporated and fostered during his time. His O and D lines demonstrate the PURE piss and vinagar he expounds and is infused with. Under Cowher, the Steelers showed an immediate improvement from the disappointing 7-9 season the year before, going 11-5 and earning home field advantage in the AFC after the Steelers had missed the playoffs six times out of the previous seven years. In 1995, at age 38, he became the youngest coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl. Cowher is only the second coach in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first six seasons as head coach, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame member Paul Brown. In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles. The Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach. Cowher is sound. Skilled in coordination and the head job. He is innovative and he gets players to react to emotion and passion. He would counter Bill Belacheat quite nicely. Cowher's record as a head coach is 149-90-1 (161-99-1 including playoff games). Cowher has half as many wins as the all-time greatest coach Don Shula. Dick Lebeau is a great coordinator -- and was an amazing player in his day. He had good defenses in Cincy and Blfo (it was so-so). He worked for Cowher. Cowher was Dick's boss. That is all you need to know about that. Cowher is a pipe dream to come ot Buffalo. But you never know...

Cowher is a great coach. His Derrick Thomas Defense in Kansas City was epic. As we know, his defenses in Pitt were just as impressive. He also seems to have an eye for talent (he basically made Tom Donahoe leave Pitt -- and drafted his own players which won him and Mike Tomlin SB Rings). He is worth $5 mil per season. How is he overated? Salary: maybe they move DJ to the front office and pro rate his salary. He would be an excellent scout. Wilson is forced to spend for a top coach now. He tried to do it on the cheap with Mularky and Greg Williams and DJ. Now he has to pay the piper. DJ has been a good teacher. HOwever, he is not a winner, a leader or an innovator. DJ is a hell of a foot ball guy and a VERY good defensive coordinator -- but he cant get guys to play bigger than they are. The culture has to change -- and a strong old timer has to step in to add the steady hand and control and guidance. Also, someone has to be of the same, or at least similar, intellect of Bill Belacheat.

i like your OL alot. This seems practial. Maybe Chambers at LG -- if he can play it. Levitre is too green still. Bell and Wood are gamers.

DJ is a teacher. This core of players is being taught this season. 8-8 this season and then a winner comes to Buffalo. Here are the choices: Shannahan: Would install a west coast offense using TEs and a great running game (one cut to north south). Would score points and scare Miami and the Pats. Cowher: Would be an aggressive blitzing defense. The offensive line would be physical and dominate. Good special teams, just a hard team that would be in every game and win about 9 -11 games per season. Holmgren: West coast offense. Would want to GM as well. Would have a boring style of play -- but he was good in a small town before --- see GREEN BAY. Gruden: West coast offense. Would be a drill sargent. Knows good players and would install a very good ground game. He was great with the Raiders where he made Ty Wheatley an all pro overnight. Dungy: Chill guy who asks for maturity on the team. Would instill a winning attitude. It helped that he had Peyton Manning. I don't think Dungy is any better/worse than Herm Edwards -- who stunk as a pro coach. Buffalo will get one of these guys next season.

No, they are scared of Eric Studesville's running game plan. WHO THE F IS ERIC STUDESVILLE? Let me guess, he is related to Ralph Wilson or some member of the Buffalo Club or the Saturn CLub? -

kelsay can't stop the run for anything. he gets pancaked numerous times during each game. he tries -- he just aint strong/big enough on that edge. His pass rush is predictable. he would look better if he had some support at LB behind him. i dont like this tampa cover 2 with this personnel. it is way to soft. However, the 46 defense Greg Williams brought did'nt work either. Yet Jeff Fisher gets it to work in Tennessee. GO figure... -
paup was a stand up LB who rushed the passer every play. poz is a runt inside tackler. this is apples to oranges. paup also had a guy named bruce smith on the other side of the line and a very good offense and special team squad that allowed him to play most of the game with his ears pinned back on the rush upfield every play...

Official game day thread - Bills vs. Packers
jimmy griffin replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it is only preseason. Clearly, Miami and the PAts are the cream of the AFC east. This Bills team could win 8 games. DJ is preparing this crop of kids for one of these guys: CowHER, Shannahan, Holmgren, dungy or gruden. SO, help is on the way. Dom Capers is a very savvy DE coach. His old Steeler blitz packages are legend. Ask Jim Kelly. So, credit him for having some good packages against our first team guys. And credit the Packer athletes for getting after guys -- this is a very good defensive front. As far as the Bills O line go -- it is patchwork yet again. Reminds me of when they had Jerry Crafts out there -- pure confussion. The line is a year away, yet again. No way they dominate any DE this season with 200-300 yard ground games. At $9 mil, one would expect that the O Coach would draw plays up for Evans. Why is he not the focus of the club? He ought to be running every pattern, running reverses and catching screens. Horrible use of a player that costs ALOT. Does anyone know how you attack a 3-4 defense? -
Trade Whitner while we still can
jimmy griffin replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Donte will make almost $3 mil. ($2.9 something) this season. Langston Walker will make about $5.4-8 mil. Who is more valuable to you every play? Are you going to address the botched Jacobs tackle, not making players around you better, the lack of pressure up front, why the BIlls only had 24 sacks last season, or anything else in the post? Or are you simply going to cherry pick (ala a Ray Sheppard goal) one area of my post -- as you did -- and call it a day? Rather bold of you to say "and you don't know what you are talking about" -- when you only nip at one area of the post with a subjective answer (i.e., who is to say $3 mil. is a lot of money to pay a safety or not -- what objective standard do we use?). -

jimmy griffin replied to Heart Throb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As the #8 pick -- you would expect more. I think this is reasonable. Yes, his supporting cast has been pathetic. The defensive groups for the last 15 years have been a colelction of scrubs. With no pressure up front (they had a SAD 24 sacks last season (28 th in the National League)), any backfield looks worse than they are. Donte is a servicable player -- but not a difference maker on the field. He doesn't seem to elevate the players around him whatsoever. When the Giants beat the Bills in Bflo. two years ago, Donte took a terrible angle at Brandon Jacobs on a long TD run. He looked scared to tackle the hulking RB. That was all I needed to see. I say we unload him. His salary is insane. Look at his cap hit this season, you will faint when you see it... -
Brandon Marshall "near incident"

i have never seen lott play live -- only on tape. i know lott was a tremendous player. lott was a great leader too. i think troy is that type of guy. his skills are top shelf -- i'm telling you, his speed, hitting, coverage and overall angle to the ball is the best i have ever seen. i suppose lott had that too. i would like for a lott fan or San fran fan to chime in.... -
im very concerned. brady makes VERY quick reads and gets the ball off. He makes decisions and goes for it. that mentality will win and loose games for him (see brett farve), but against the bills, soft cover 2 zones and NO PASS rush -- brady could post GREAT numbers. who can cover winslow?

yes he is. i saw him live last weekend in DC vs. the redskins. he is just incredible. his closing speed and angles to the ball and play are unreal. he hits sooooo hard too. just a great player -- the best safety i have ever seen. i know that i bold -- but i stick by it.
