  1. I go out, just like I have my whole career, and I learned from Jerry Rice, and catch balls. If they dont want to throw it to me then whatever. Me likes Mr. me.
  2. Joe Weisnewski, of Canisius High School, will be calling the plays this Sunday. He is an old pal of Ralphs - both attended high school together in Detroit in the 1940s.
  3. I wish the Bills would offer this guy a contract. And then have him split time with POZ. What a fearless player he is/was. And then he could tell us how the hell the Pats draw up defensive game plans. Adn it would be a great pain to Belacheat. Sign him!
  4. I disagree. If this team was a winning one, with all pros across the board and playoff experince in the locker room -- you would be right. however, these is the complete opposite. This the same hodgepodge, mixed-matched. patchwork roster that is has been since the Bills lost in Tennessee on the homerun pitchback play. that cursed this team and francise for a decade. they are finally adding good players to the roster with prodcutive drafts. but they are still a bunch of clowns on both sides of the ball. and still have poor talent at the key positions on the field -- defensive end; OL (center and RT), TE and QB!
  5. no. This late in august, they would want to have their timing down and blocking looking sharp. The defense would want to see pressure with certain packages, etc. There are still major problems. Defense: So far, they have shown ZERO pass rush, attutude or identity. There is NO leader on that side of the ball. And that is really important. Pitt has Troy, Chargers has Merriman, Miami has Porter, Pats have Teddy B., etc.. The great Bills teams of the 1990s of course had Leonard Smith, Bruce, Henry Jones, etc. Stroud was supposed to be that guy -- but for whatever reason, he is mentally disinterested. POZ is a role player at best. A poor mans Keith Brooking. 1/3 the player of Urlacher. 1/2 the player Zach Thomas was in his day. As the MIDDLE GUY -- you need to be a force and kill people. THe unit as a whole, tackles really well. Donte is a hell of a tackler -- but not a playmaker. Leonis is the gem of the unit. He will have a strong season -- but he is only as good as a pass rush can make him. Shoebel could get the passer b/k he had a great first step. He is undersized to play the end on run plays. His body has been beat to hell. I dont know if his frist step is still there. Kyle Williams is a real player. He is an absolute force IMO. But Kelsey and Denny are weeklings who are usuall standing with their hands on their hips after and during almost every play on the field -- unless the play is directed exactly at them. Denny would make a great long snapper on STs -- that is about it. THose two should be in the Cananian League. Maybin is the future force -- but he a rookie who only played one season of college. He is green still. These are great generalizations of course, but on balance, they seem rather fair, merited and reasonable. No all pros, no turnovers, no emotion, no identity. Offense: The line looks like the same patchwork we have been stuck with since 1997 -- when Robert Hicks was the "savior." When you play the Pats, you face Seymore, Wilfork and Green -- as FIRST ROUND HELL RAISING SOBs. The TE play and blocking is average. The RBS seems fine. But they never make it to the second level for two reasons. First, the WRs need to stay on their blocks. TO will help this-- as he might be the best WR blocker in the game. Second, there is ZERO threat of a passing game. The QB doesnt scare anyone. His release is accurate but has no zip on it Defenses pack the box with eight and poor Edwards cant get the ball out in 3, 5, or 7 step dropbacks with any authoirty. Pass protection is bad - -but Trent just doen'st have any zip in his arm. Matt Ryan, Flacco and Brady Quinn and other rookie sensations can rely on their arm to get them out of trouble. It is apparent to me that Trent needs to roll out, boot legs, etc. He is lilke a taller Jake Plumber IMO. I dont think Edwards is the pocket passer we thought he was. His reads are average, his arm is average, is footwork is so-so, his ability to create an extra minute to make a play is non-apparent. With a patchwork line -- the QB needs to be special in arm strenght or footwork. Manning, when the Colts were first building -- always had great footwork in the pocket (knowing when to step up into the pocket or get the hell out of a colapsing one).
  6. He is one of the best coaches ever. Are you drunk?
  7. Good post. This sums it up. Totally agree with this.
  8. lol. good point. i remember james "big cat" williams -- RT for the bears years ago. he was a mean sob. comparing the best to , is a benchmark. this gives perspective. bills dont seem to have a running game, a passing game or inturn, playaction. good teams have good coaches. good coaches teach these things to good players that they draft by being good talent evaulators. good creates good. bills might have bad creating bad. for 12 years now...
  9. I agree with you and Joey Greco -- it appears that Trent gets the benifit of the best drive starts. It would help him out if his defense could generate some turnovers inside opponents 50 yard line. young QBs, like Flacco and Ryan seem to benifit from that happening -- and that is logical. the bills defensive turnovers is paltry -- i think. But on the field position for kick returns, agree -- trent gets the best. But the worst, just to play devels advocate, is only 10 yards behind (ie., raiders start at 23, bills at 33 (estimates)). so, big deal, 10 yards. and where are those 4th down and short stops stats?
  10. i've never read the thing, except one time when i got my hair cut the United States Senate Barber Shop in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. why? does it say what i just wrote? i dont get it...
  11. Bell is puzzling to the coaches. He plays pretty darn well. He doesnt have the pedigree of most LT in the national league. He is a project. I like the guy. But his injury isnt allowing review of his play again top talent rushers. WALker is the starting LT. Butler, a guy who has a lot of pro experience now, will man the RT. simple as that. time will tell what Bell has. His injury doesnt help his chances...
  12. Why is it always receivers that are the dolts in the NFL? Moss pretends to rub poop on the goal post. Ochoconco wants a trade. Owens insults his own QBS. RAy CAruth kills his wife. David Boston is a moron. andre reed became a little B word at the end of his career too. plexiglass burress and his gun usage. steve smith's antics. stallworth kills a person with his car. etc, etc... MArshall is a loser. A child. I hope some safety "knockes his block off."
  13. walker is the starting LT game 1. BEll is injured right now. he is a enigma, a riddle, a mystery -- as Winston Churchill once said about Russia. Bell aint starting anything. He is the backup. THey just gave money to the new center from CArolina and Butler to play RT. Eventually, maybe midseason, WALker goes back to the RT and Wood shift to C and Butler shifts to RG and Bell starts at LT. But that is a long way away. There will be injuries and drama before that happens anyway. Walker is a bargain right now. He has played well -- and in games, he pass and run blocks veryh well. HE is good player who shows up on Sunday.
  14. there a lot of reasons for trent's poor performance. we know most of those reasons. this chart does seem to demonstrate that trent gets the BEST field position. but this stat might only be based on kicking and STs. as such, we dont factor in the defense(s) getting turnovers (fumbles or interceptions) and allowing QBS to take the ball over inside an opponents 50 yrd line or inside it, etc. when we look at the ravens defense generating turnovers -- one has to beleive flacco gets the reward of good field positions. what are the bills turnover stats for 2007 and 2008? ALSO, how many 4th down stops did they have? and where were those ball exchanges at? these all go to field position. to generalize, i would say that trent has NOT been helped by these possible stats and theories (that seem to have relevance and merit). on the plain ST front/ concept, i agree with you. the bills STs is not hideous -- in fact, it is the BEST for field position (for kicking and returning kicks)
  15. Here is link for you (Dallas News): http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...de.38f0fd2.html I would like to see an average field position stat. I know that exists.
  16. the bills special teams were indeed good. in fact, the Dallas Post, this summer, said that the bills have the best (with all special team factors, using some sort of math equation) STs in the league. But i disagree that edwards is NOT forced to have bad field position each game. when you get scored on, you usually start at your own 20. and the bills get scored on a lot. their defense has trouble stopping folks. pull some stats on how many "3 and outs" the bills caused -- b'k drives were sustained on them taking chunks of yardage. And you ignore something VERY important. ask your self how many turnovers the bills caused or created? not many. and that puts an offense on the field in the oppositions side of the 50 yards line quite often. forcing fumbles and interceptions within the opponents 50 yards line. this goes to field position -- and the bills defense is lacking there. JOe Flacco comes on the field a lot when his defense hands him the ball after an interception/ fumble at the opponents 30 yards line. It happens at least once a game -- i would say. trent would like that opportunity...
  17. i'm talking about managing the game. knowing when to take a sack, when to throw a ball out of bounds, how to sell playaciton, how to carry yourself as a young man on the field and as the teams field general. to the poster before you, you are correct, the bills have great STs. i amend that.
  18. his handoffs are famous. his play action is probably the best of any pro QB in the games history. as we know, to have good play action, you need to have a real running game. indy has that. they are professional there in indy. they practice (tom moore and line coach howard mudd) every detail of a running play. the bills seem to jsut lineup and RUN. indy are tactical and it shows. smart, smart OL help. jeff saturday is the modern day kent hull. a smallish center who can block albert haynseworth; and can pull out of his stance with great speed and run over a LB on another play. saturday, like hull, and many of the smallish bronco lineman of the last 15 years, are good with their leverage. technique, balance and being able to angle bigger guys off using physics -- NOT BRUT POWER. jeff saturday -- what a player!
  19. I like Raji too. He is clearly a force. I just wonder how he will hold up for 4 quarters and 16 games. right now, he looks fresh. to keep that power up -- will be his biggest test. constant double teams, etc. And we will see how he plays in the cold up there in wisconsin when he is freezing his balls off and his cleats slip out from him every time he goes to push off.
  20. BIlls go 8-8 again and get another nice defensive line player. then they get shannahan, cowher or gruden as a coach... this team still needs two or three dynamic game changing players. edwards is a the biggest question mark on the club. he has DONE NOTHING since getting his head smashed in against arizona. After that game -- he has been timid and clueless. He ought to go watch joe flaco manage a game. doesnt help that trent's defense and special teams are hideous. trent is forced to play each series from terrible field position. he constantly has pressure in his face and has no real running game to rely on. poor bastard...
  21. he tore the univ of buffalo to pieces. haha. but really, he has very soft hands and is physical. and he can take a lick. his speed is great when he gets into open space. he is not silky smooth like a lot of the great backs with the great balance and vision. brown is a straight ahead guy who will take tacklers on. he will see some 3rd down work and catch screen passes all game long. this is rob riddick PART II
  22. aaron brown is an interesting player. he is really really fast. but he only has ONE speed. i liken him to jerious norwood. i hope this kid can keep his off-the-field problems to a minimium as well...
  23. yea, that is a good point. but nobody is really running vanilla defenses this late in august. they are all using their tricks. more importantly -- rogers looks great. his throws with good pressure on him are accurate and powerful. he runs out of the pocket when he feels pressure. he is the next great QB in my opinion. he seems to make the game slow down and almost stop. the plays seems t o take for ever to deveope. he surveys the field and almost always makes the right decision. i like this guy. it will be great to see him play brett favre!
  24. man, the cards were pretty darn good on both sides of the ball. their defense was active and stout when it had to be late in games. in the playoffs their linebackers played amazing and pressured the hell out of offenses. their corners and nickle packages were not weak. on offense, clearly, they are dynamic. boldin and fitz are 2/5 best WRs in pro ball today. they have two good blocking TEs and a VERY GOOD and nimble pass blocking offensive line. and warner is a savvy hall-of-famer. they have been a laughing stock for years as, we know. but they have turned the corner and added some real fiber and athletes to their once sad defense, etc.
